All the Little Things [Ehefra, Helle]
Tue Aug 06, 2024 1:06 pm
ShitshitshitshitSHIT!
Power walking through the vandenreich, Ehefra felt a bit of sweat beading on her brow as she hurriedly made her way to Helle's office. She forgot. She forgot. SHE FUCKING FORGOT!
With everything that had been happening! Operations. The whole...STELLA nonsense. The residual data from Africa. Fucking Lukas going INSANE and the City almost going on lockdown. So much had gone on that she'd gone and made a big mistake.
She FORGOT about their date!
The Administrator's face was tense as she finally pushed her way through the big door leading into Helle's office and a big smile flashed across her face. "Helle! I'm soooosososososo sorry. I comPLETELY forgot about our date! Works just been so crazy and the damn alert a few days ago and UGH we had a friggin-"
She was already talking when she walked in through the door, the woman promptly stalling briefly as she then spotted the Administrator at her desk. And was briefly reminded of how pretty she was. Not just now, but her mind, as it had...annoyingly begun to do whenever she saw the woman, flashed back to that smile she had once seen gracing the woman's face.
Concurrently, perhaps a few microseconds AFTER that more kneejerk reaction, she realized that she'd just barged into the woman's office and started yammering potentially in the midst of whatever Business Helle herself had been occupied with, and so she cleared her throat. Straightening her posture a bit as she attempted to ...regain her composure. As if she HADN'T just barged into the woman's office.
"Erhem...uh.... anywho Director Armstrong... May I ...come in?" She asked with a nervous smile. Trying to walk things back a little bit and offering the option for Helle to tell her to fuck off until she wasn't busy. If she WAS busy.

HELLE ARMSTRONG
Helle's head tilted, eyes closed. Her chest is rising and falling in slow cycles. Arms folded under her bosom; her posture lacked its usual rigidness, instead replaced bny a small slouch. Hair a knotted mess, some would probably say that the Director's seen better days.
Ehefra's sudden appearance was met by Helle's sleeping form. Even the loud racket the tomboy had brought with her did nothing to cause Helle to stir.
But, as inquisitive as Ehefra is, the Quincy would probably guess the situation. Helle's desk is, like always, full of paperwork. It's probably not Ehefra's place to snoop through any of it, but it's clear that Helle had exhausted herself, and it's unclear how long the Director's been sleeping. If what had happened didn't move her, then Helle must have been deprived of a healthy amount of sleep.

The fuck? Was she ignoring her? The thought managed to flick through her mind for just an instant before realization suddenly dawned on her as she saw that volumous valley start to gently rise and fall with the subtle rhythmn of restful breaths. Ah... she was.... flat out asleep.
As the realization settled in, so too did a light blush form across her features and she silently stepped in through the threshold of the office to glance at the piles of paperwork that were built up on Helle's desk. Fuck there really was a lot there. A quiet sigh escaped her and ehefra's attention shifted from the pile of work to the very woman she'd come here to see. Well, the woman she'd come here to take on a date. To apologize to for taking so long to get to it. But well, she was reminded that Helle was just as run ragged as she was.
And ..... unfortunately for Ehefra. She now discovered a second expression she really liked on Helle's face. That blank, placid look she'd sought to change, even if it wasn't that earnest smile. She really was annoyingly cute when she was asleep too. Making her way over behind the woman's desk, she couldn't help but wonder... was she at least sleeping alright? a slight sheepishness coursed through her mind. How as of late, she'd had Helle sleep in her bed with her so that she could rest a bit more easily.
She wondered. Did Helle sleep better when she was there?
She didn't really know. And the possibility that to Helle it didn't really make any difference, that did twist a little in her chest, that glimmer of insecurity. But she didn't focus on that now.
Gently kneeling down she paused for a moment before leaning in and speaking softly. "Hey... Helle?" She asked softly, very gently resting her hand on the woman's shoulder, the slightest touch to see if she would wake up. She had no idea how deep a sleeper Helle was. Though already Ehefra was thinking things over. If Helle was conked out like this she probably needed some rest. She ....COULD just have Beeps do the paperwork. Heck she AND Beeps could get all this done... and if Helle didn't wake up, maybe she could just...scoop her up and take them home so they could finish sleeping? Maybe curl up with her? Oi, fricking hold your horses Heff, she might just wake up, dont get ahead of yourself! A brief self chastisement.
One thing at a time, she told herself.

HELLE ARMSTRONG
The papers on her desk are a lot of different things, from daily reports to the recent recordings from Jefferson. The city's infiltration is soon, and Helle had busied herself preparing. The horrid mixture of casual documents and sensitive files made it difficult for just anyone to look through them without seeing something they probably shouldn't, but Ehefra wouldn't have to worry about that.
Helle's shoulder sparked as the other's hand was placed on it, Reishi seemingly pulsing out like a sonar, spreading out from the blonde Quincy. The next second, Helle's eyes opened, stirred from her rest. Her eyes, a pale green, stared forward, a blankness about them that'd suggest Helle had turned into a vegetable. When they turned to Ehefra, they did not seem to properly address the woman, looking through her before Helle's body itself twitched.
She'd blink her eyes rapidly, shaking away her vacant stare as color returned to her gaze, her expression still measured.
"Ehefra?" She questioned, her head tilting. "What brings you here?"

GUH?!
The little spark surprised her for a second and she blinked a few times as she tapped her fingers together. The hell was that? It wasn't a defense mechanism, but seeing Helle's blankness, she found herself furrowing her brows slightly. Was she in some sort of meditative trance? When Helle finally spoke up she cleared her throat slightly. "Huh, So you're awake. You looked like a zombie for a second there." She murmured, reaching up and gently itching behind her ear for a second before clearing her throat.
"I came to uh, apologize. I forgot about our date we were supposed to have. But I guess I'm not the only one whose been super busy these days." She tilted her head slightly towards the work on the woman's desk. But even so, she gently sighed and folded her arms across her chest.
"What a pain. It can't be helped, but I still feel bad about it." She conceded, pausing for a moment as she looked to the side. "Plus I haven't had you over in a bit so I'm not sleeping as well. But that's no real excuse." she noted evenly, trying to be nonchalant about the situation. After all, she knew how much Helle could pounce on any openings.

HELLE ARMSTRONG
She blinked before turning her gaze down to her desk, sweeping her eyes across her paperwork.
"I apologize," She eventually muttered. "When I was young, I would usually cover myself in a net of Reishi to protect myself from wild animals. It allowed me to sleep, and if something were to interact with my body, the Reishi would pulse, usually scaring the animal off."
Why she had it on while sitting in her office could be waved off as habitual, but it also made sure any small inconvenience would wake her. It just so happened to be Ehefra that caused it.
"But... I guess it did do it job of warding off curious critters."
Placing her hand on top of a folder, Helle's eyes snapped to Ehefra, her gaze accusatory despite her blank expression, but someone with keen eyes would probably detect the faintest hint of a smirk pulling the Director's lips. It wasn't there for long as Helle returned her attention to her desk, moving files here and there, organizing her mess. There was no explanation given as to why she had looked like a zombie, but if it was something Helle felt sharing, it would have been shared.
"There is a lot of work that requires my attention, but I have been at this for too long, as evident by my loss of consciousness. A break will do me well."
She was quick to assure Ehefra that she's putting time aside for them to go out. She did agree to letting the woman taking her someplace on a day she should have had a clear schedule on. It would be wrong to let work make her a liar, so after her work was secured, she rose from her desk.
"Come. Let us be on our way, and you can share what has been keeping your nights restless."

Ehefra cleared her throat and looked off to the side. as Helle explained her little defense mechanism. But she couldn't stay mad. "don't worry about it. Not like it hurt or nothing." She murmured, rubbing her hip before pausing as Helle further explained WHY she used to put up such a defense. And then when that subtle, sly little smile was turned her way, she instantly tensed and felt her heart race just a little. "Tch, don't you go calling me ... a critter." Doing nothing to deny that she was curious. She might have liked to imagine the process of carrying the woman home wouldn't involve any ..exploration.
But well. Who could blame her?
"Hot damn is that you welcoming a break? Well slap my ass and call me Kitten, is the great Helle learning to pace herself?~" A very sly smirk forming as she stood up and watched Helle stand as well. Much taller than her. Fuck she forgot how big this woman was sometimes. She cleared her throat a bit and offered her hand to the woman, a little flourish as a thin line of reishi circled her frame and slid down her body. Her outfit namely... her labcoat, her skirt, her top, basically everything but her underwear, was promptly broken down for a brief instant into the reishi and interwoven thread she'd constructed it from, in the very same moment that it was being reformed, a line of swirling particles down her body as her work uniform was promptly reformed into a more...spiffy outfit.
An open collar button-up shirt, dressy slacks, and a thin band of reishi even lifted her hair up and tightened to give her a ponytail, leaving a portion of her bands to hang over her forehead a bit roguishly.
A fancy little trick accomplished by weaving reishi with thread. Thus, with a bit of manipulation? Modular clothing~
Reaching out, she sought to take Helle's hand and offer a kiss to her knuckles.
"We'll get to that. But in the meantime. I think you could use some food. what do you think, do you wanna go out. Or shall I take you home and make you something special?~" She ventured with a wink.

That mouth. Ehefra's words were usually unkempt and brash, but when faced with constant professionalism, Helle preferred the lax wordage over anything else when she's trying to relax. People are always proper towards her, and she had found Ehefra's way of trying to sound as improper as possible a bit amusing. Maybe that is a reason they found themselves in that peculiar situation that felt forever ago.
Though, her eyes would watch Ehefra change clothing, her brow rising. Reishi synthesized clothing? She thought the mechanism usable, but she hardly felt like overthinking it. Besides, her thoughts were quickly brought out of her mind as she felt her hand tugged. Instinctively, she felt the need to pull away, but blinked as she watched Ehefra kiss her knuckles.
Cue a long pause as she stared at the other Quincy.
"Chivalrous, Ehefra, but I am not sure most would agree to such coddling, especially on a first date."
She made sure to emphasize that this is their first outing together, whether it be a date or not. There is a chance that Ehefra took their prior interaction as something more than Helle offering a friendly hand and an opportunity. They have been far too busy, and maybe the distance had warped Ehefra's idea about their relationship. In dating terms, Helle assumes they are still in the testing the water's phase.
However, it is funny that Ehefra had committed a sin that Helle would have found more humorous in the past when her whole schtick was formed around Shakespearean literature.
"Let us be on our way. I know a lovely little diner," She added to save Ehefra from any embarrassment that may weigh on her shoulders.
And to make sure the woman doesn't feel too bad about her actions, she gave her a small smile, even as she slipped her hand free and headed towards the door.

Ehefra smiled all the wider as she noticed Helle watching her change. Certainly not minding them watching the transition. However she was a bit surprised when she saw the reaction to the little knuckle thing. "Eh?! Are you kidding? This is totally a firstintroduction thing! You know those old timey movies. Where like, a knight or prince sees some beautiful chick for the first time and kisses their knuckles! Thats like classic day 1 behavior even before the date!" She insisted with a slight puff of her cheek before canting her head a bit to the side. "alright alright. I'll stick to more modern flirting. I figured you'd like that old timey stuff." She rubbed the back of her neck, releasing the woman's hand.
That said, she WAS a bit surprised when Helle made her decision, but ALSO picked the venue, making her heart race a little. "Oh uh shouldn't...... " She trailed a bit. Shouldn't SHE, the one who was wooing her, be the one to pick the venue? She was the one wooing right? She paused and actually thought about it. Wait, actually wasn't Helle the one who had brought up the date? She blushed suddenly and instantly furrowed her brows a bit. Wh- DID HELLE THINK SHE HAD THE PANTS HERE?!
Sadly, before she could protest, Helle already was walking, and she had to scurry a bit to catch up. "R-right, well, sure I think eating out would be rad." She stammered a bit, attempting to salvage some sense that she was at the wheel here. Bah, she'd just show who was leading this dance later.
And surely that was her.

HELLE ARMSTRONG
Helle pondered.
"I think the average woman of today would find the antics of then a little invasive," She'd mutter, not exactly responding to Ehefra but coming up with her own musings. "I imagine the evolving economy and devolvement of the nuclear family a factor."
She'd have continued on, but a quick shake of her head with a sigh said enough about how she felt about the idea of knights and damsels. If fairytales were true, she'd not exist. There's the question of if that's a bad thing though.
Ah...
This isn't supposed to be a get lost in wayward thinking time. This is supposed to be a go out and enjoy yourself time. Helle was the one who suggested she'd go out with Ehefra every now and then, and the thought of it becoming more was tossed. The first step into the unknown shouldn't be bogged down with silly thinking, even if Helle's musings were her own.
And, to make matters worse, Helle seemed completely absent as they walked, too consumed to properly interact. It's impossible to even garner what's going on in her head either, since her face is always so steady and calm, like the perfect day out at sea.
