Psych eval (Stella/Emil)
Tue Aug 06, 2024 5:35 am
Stella woke up greated by a cold sweat and increased heart rate as her eyes darted around the room. Once she realizes it was just another nightmare she looks at the clock, annoyed with herself for getting so worked up again. How many nightmares does that make it? She would lay back into her bed after taking a drink of water before remembering she has an evaluation today. It's whenever he had the time, so there is no set time for her. Deciding it would be easier to just stay awake until he gets here she'd turn on the TV across from her and allow herself to do nothing.
She didn't want to think. Whenever the red head thought, the visions of her team's dead bodies flash in her eyes and she remembers the pain she went through that day. Shivering slightly she was glad she was awake. She allowed her mind to drift into nothingness as she watched the t.v

Yet another drop into this foul pond of tragedy, hmm? He had received word of the situation; a kidnapping, possibly a rogue Shinigami, one of their newer soldiers having quite the rough recovery. Though she had an assignment to her case, he had personally decided to step in and take over; not out of any special interest for her specifically, but rather how delicate the situation was. He wanted in-person assurance of whatever information she may have, as well as to get her back in working order as soon as possible - a well company was a smooth company, after all; couldn't risk any more erratics.
With a gentle knock, his steady hand would softly open the door a brief moment later, the young lady greeted with a friendly smile upon his pale lips, his voice filled with warmth and interest, "Ms. Bauer? Are you ready for your session?"

Looking over from the t.v she wad greeted by a friendly smile. She hadn't met this person before and wondered if he had been sent here from a higher up to question her? She had answered questions from a few different people, but this person was supposed to evaluate her. So it was going to be different types of questions she hoped. She didn't want to dwell too much on her own inadequacies but she that was hard for her to do. Banishing the thought she would give a polite smile and a small nod of her head.
"Yes sir."
She spoke with as much respect as she could muste.r Her voice coming out barely above a whisper as she picked up the remote muting the t.v. A few seconds later deciding to just turn it off as she didn't want any distractions during this.

"Oh, there's no need for 'sir'. You can call me Dr. Holsen, or simply Doctor. Whatever you feel is more comfortable dear."
He'd take a nearby stool, calmly sitting down. Nothing was in his hands, not even a notepad; there was a recording device courtesy of his little assistant on his person, not that the young lady would be aware of. This meeting had to be as authentic as possible; clipboards tended to be far too stuffy and rigid for patients to be able to connect with him cleanly.
"So how are you today, Ms. Bauer? Have you gotten enough rest? Ate properly?"

She would nod silently to the doctor as he would begin to ask her questions. She had eaten her meals but she's been plagued with nightmares that wake her up often. Every hour or two all the way through the night. The red head had slight bags under her eyes as she would shrug her shoulders. She had technically gotten enough rest purely hours wise, but it wasn't solid.
"I'm pretty tired. I've eaten, but I have nightmares that are waking me up every hour or two. Guess I'm not getting good enough sleep."
Taking a drink of her water as she looked at the doctor. She wondered if sleep medicine could help her or if that could potentially put her in an even worse spot. Taking a breath and sitting her water on the night stand shed just ask the question.
"Is that something sleep medicine could help?"

Of course she would be suffering nightmares after such a traumatic situation; he did pity her a touch, but pity wasn't going to get her back in working order. He'd have to inform the doctors to keep a close eye on her and monitor external activities... Poor sleep quality after traumatic incidents tended to lead to reckless action or extreme emotions from a mind clouded by exhaustion.
"Medication won't make your nightmares go away, my dear," His soft voice carried across to her, hands folded together as his posture read as unimposing, kind, "It is oft thought that dreams are the mind's way of processing information, or to prepare you for something. Though one's body and mind are capable of incredible healing with rest, sometimes you need something outside to help you make sense of it,"
Leaning back a little, he made sure not to make any sudden movements, keeping his glassy expression on the young woman, "The only way to begin healing, is to address the wound Ms. Bauer. Are there any experiences you wish to share with me today?"

Nodding solemnly she'd think about what had happened. What had been the main crux of her issue. It really wasn't even the time thst she had spent in captivity but that does have some to do with it. It was more so the fact that she had been the one who told her group they could head back while she finished up the mission alone. Had she not done that, then maybe they could have worked together to bring the green haired demon in.
"I....told the group I was working with that they could head back to the village. It was just one last hollow. I was more than capable of taking care of it, and wanted to let them get some time to hang out before we had to leave."
Her voice shaky as she felt a shiver go down her spine as she comes to the next part. When she found them, or atleast when she found their bodies. They were slaughtered by that demon.
"W....when I went to catch up with them I stumbled across their buddies. Mangled and bloodied by a shinigami."
Looking down she could see her hands were shaking as she recalled the event. This wasn't going to be the easiest thing to work through was it? If she hadn't given that order. Or if she was stronger and killed that hollow faster then maybe.
"If I hadn't told them that. Maybe they would still be alive."

"Breathe my dear, look at me. Four in, four held, four out," He'd gently put a hand on the edge of her bed to grab her attention, calmly demonstrating the steps with his hand as extra emphasis and grounding, raising it for the inhale, curling it into a fist for the hold, and lowering it for exhale. It'd be difficult to work with her if she had an anxiety episode, and that breathing technique was oft something he'd teach to his anxious patients, "Any time you feel that burn in your chest, that weakness in your hands, you must breathe Ms. Bauer. It will help calm your nerves. Ensure you have water nearby as well."
Leaning away again, his hands would rest on his lap, "As for your story, i'm certain that was a very terrible scenario to live through, especially for a novice to this work. We have many honorable members perish on the field, that is the price of having to deal with spiritual threats. Look at me, Ms. Bauer."
His expression would be played into something more serious, stern, like a parent looking upon their child before telling them something important, "You cannot hold yourself responsible for a tragedy beyond your control. You will destroy yourself over something none of the victims would have blamed you for. Self-flagellation may seem like the reasonable conclusion, but you did not orchestrate their deaths, you did not wish for them to die; you are as much a victim here as the slain."
Singing a deep sigh, his shoulders dropping, he'd conclude, "Mourn them, cry for them, but no amount of self fault will improve you, or bring them back. It's happened. You must focus on what you can control."

Stella would use the breathing exercise thst he had told her to. This was actually helping her quite a bit as she calmed her breathing down. Listening to the man she would feel herself feeling less bad about the deaths. Perhaps it really wasn't her order that got her allies killed? Of course it wasn't. She didn't order them to their deaths. She had just wanted them to get to head back early.
"S...so, don't think about it being as my fault? Is it okay for me to think about how to avoid these kind of tragedies in the future? Things like getting stronger or trying to bring her to justice?"
Stella asked, seemingly much more calm than she was moments before. She did move her eyesight back down to her hands as she felt herself stop shaking. She wasn't in the best head space still but she was trying to move her thinking into a different direction. Possinlg something more productive for the red head.

"Ms. Bauer," He'd calmly interject, once again resting his hand on the edge of the bed, giving care not to actually touch her but simply get her attention in an unintrusive manner, "Do you truly believe that thinking obsessively of how to prevent an unpredictable tragedy will be of benefit to you on the field? If anything, i'd say it to be more necessary to keep a clear head and acknowledgement of your task is what you could be doing. There is a reason all of the strategists do most of their work here; it's quite to chart a detailed path when you're already on it without missing a landmark or two."
With soft grace, he lifted his hand away once more, "I advise you allow the individuals who have experience in this form of work to do their job; you cannot bring such a dangerous individual in on your own. But, you may take this as reason, motivation, to strengthen yourself. Simply don't push yourself too hard; putting too much strain on your mind and body will sooner make it break than strengthen it, dear."
Hands on his lap, he'd give a gentle smile, "Is there anything else you'd like to talk about?"
