“No,” Violet raised both her eyebrows and shook her head. She would not accept anything more from this man, not if it cost money. She couldn’t do it. A house was enough. More than enough. Way too much in fact. It… It will forever stress her out…
“Uh, no. I found out the day before they bought the ticket; they didn’t even know at the time. I’m pretty sure they don’t know I know actually about the baby. They’re replacing me… I hope it’s a boy, so when he gets older, he can fight back.”
Violet began randomly roaming around the house, more wanting to talk to him than anything. He was usually gone at work, or busy… So, now that she knew he didn’t think negatively of her… “What’s your family like…? Do they love you?”

SOLOMON RICHTER | THE ONCOMING STORM
"Haha! Don't worry. I expected that answer. I have no doubt you'll earn enough to treat yourself in due time."
Solomon accepted her response without any objections. He understood the fact she likely believed he'd done enough for her, and that anything else was out of the question, but if this event told him nothing else, then it was assuredly that he'd go to any length to ensure a bright smile dominated her countenance. She meant far too much to him now to accept anything else. When she broached the subject of his parents, his smile dimmed somewhat, though he hid it relatively well. His expression closer to bashful than regretful.
"Well, my parents have been divorced ever since I was a teenager. When my mother was present in the household, I had no doubt she loved me. To this day, I still visit her in Greece whenever time permits. Me and my father, on the other hand, have rarely seen eye to eye, and that hasn't changed for some time."

Seeing his smile fade, Violet tilted her head and nudged him lightly as a way to cheer him up. Once he explained, she understood the change in his expression, but she was kind of happy for him. “Be glad they divorced instead of staying together under like... selfish pretenses… At least there is some honesty in that.”
Violet wasn't super nosy, so they ended up back at the front door soon enough. She pulled out her cellphone and texted Vanyel to come pick her up again. "You know... I was really scared coming to tell you everything, but I'm glad I finally did... It's... it's hard for me to open up like that. I'm not used to being allowed to... It can be scary."

SOLOMON RICHTER | THE ONCOMING STORM
"I suppose so, but it does make family reunions somewhat awkward every now and then."
Solomon reassured her with a smile, chortingly softly as waved his hand. He had long since learned to accept that part of his life. His gaze looked toward the setting sun as he reflected on how the day had progressed. It was no doubt disheartening to hear what happened to her, even more so when he was effectively powerless and unable to be her protector. Even so, he was relieved to know that she was learning to move past it, to rise above it and take control of her life. Embracing her one more time, he patted her head softly as he shook his head.
"Good. And know that you can always voice your issues or troubles with me no matter what. Whatever you decide to do moving forward, I'll be there to support you no matter what. At any rate, come and visit again sometime. When I'm better prepared, perhaps I can show you some of my family heirlooms from the past."

Violet nodded and smiled, a sweet and cheerful smile plastered on her face at this point. She felt so much better now that he knew everything and she didn’t lose him permanently like she thought she would. After having some casual conversation, catching up with each other, Vanyel pulled up on his motorcycle to pick her up.
“Alright, I’ll see you later,” Violet said, waving as she stepped away. Before she fully left, Violet stopped, turned toward Solomon and threw her arms around him in a tight, tight hug. “Thank you, Solomon…” she whispered sincerely and then released him, jogging off toward the street and waving just before she left.
