Cold As Ice (Rei, Armina)

It was an unusual situation today and as Armina stood in the training grounds of her division, the blue haired woman was pondering to herself. She’d requested that the grounds be empty for an hour or so, or more accurately, threatened the members that’d originally been there. They hadn’t been doing an awful lot anyway and the fact that one actually made a pass at her hadn’t exactly left her feeling much in the way of sympathy towards them. The male in particular had received a rather unpleasant present and it wasn’t a kiss either.

Needless to say, the whole affair hadn’t put her in a great mood and as she drew her zanpakuto and swung it a few times, there was nothing but anger in her movements. It was probably not the right mindset for what she was supposed to be doing but fuck it. She had already agreed to the surprising request, one that involved her training someone that she hadn’t even met before. It was incredibly odd and out of the blue but it was a rather pleasing ego boost and the 4th Seat wasn’t going to say no to clashing blades with someone.

“You’re actually going through with this? I’m shocked.” The voice of her blade uttered into her mind, as amused as ever.

“Oh shut up.” Armina snapped irritably.

“I wouldn’t go and thank me just yet. You might regret asking me.” Armina replied dryly, turning around to face the other woman.

She was humble at least and as the 4th Seat looked her over, the blue haired Shinigami couldn’t help but notice her well toned form. Clearly, she was fond of a good workout and that was something that Armina did approve of. The 4th Division member was well known for her own severe physical training and there weren’t all that many individuals who could go the distance with her when it came to that. Armina had lost count of how many hours she’d spent pushing herself to the limit and the more Shinigami who did likewise, the better in her opinion. Softness didn’t belong in the Gotei.

“Introductions first and then we’ll get into it. I’m Armina Willsaam, 4th Seat of the 4th Division and you are?” She asked, her Zanpakuto changing into its Shikai without so much as a mention of its release phase, a sign of the level that Armina had reached with it.

A nod of the head was Armina’s response to Rei’s introduction, briefly recalling another member of the 8th that she’d met before. Frankly, she couldn’t stand the little bastard and if the blue haired woman ever saw him again, the temptation to smash his face in would be rather hard to resist. Still, the 4th Seat wasn’t going to let him affect what she thought of the woman before her though and would give Rei the chance to show what she’d learned so far. The fact the girl was unseated kind of put a limit on just how much Armina was expecting but in some cases, ranks were just numbers and nothing more.

The head of Armina’s Shikai would freeze over at that point, becoming rather jagged and sharp, with shards of ice sticking out all over it. An unpleasant weapon for sure and given the size of the duel handed hammer, one swing from the 4th Seat was enough to give any opponent something to think about. Rei would most certainly know about it if struck by it but for the moment, Armina would take up a defensive stance, her gaze briefly looking down at the aura of ice around the girl.

“Come on then. I’ll let you have the first strike. Show me what you can do with that Shikai and we’ll go from there.” She boldly commanded, her stance firm and solid, as though she was a block of ice herself.

The girl didn’t have a bad flash step although Armina was able to follow it easily enough, swinging her hammer from left to right to batter away the strike. The 4th Seat wasn’t messing around and it would be a sign of things to come. Due to the force of her swing, it naturally spun the six footer around, allowing her strike to also batter away the incoming spike that was about to pierce her from behind. It was a clever trick and honestly, it may well have caught her had it not been for her momentum.

Armina would quickly tap into the powers of her own Zanpakuto, creating a pair of ice chains that would burst from the head of her hammer and try to grab a hold of her fellow ice wielder. The 4th Seat wasn’t the quickest Shinigami but if she could lock the girl down then it wouldn’t matter much.

Another flash step would again result in Armina missing her attack and this time, the 4th Seat would follow suit, using the ability herself to disappear and reappear behind Rei, which allowed her to avoid the girl’s attack to her back. She wasn’t the best with Shunpo and it tended to take a bit out of her but she’d been attempting to improve her skills. For the time being though, it would do the job that she needed it to do.

“You don’t seem as though you are trying to actually harm me.” The 4th Seat commented, attempting to draw out the girl’s strength. “When you come to this division requesting training, it’s expected that you put your all into your attacks. Hit me with your best, I can take it.”

As a sign that she meant what she said, Armina would lash out at the girl from behind, channelling her spiritual energy into her leg in order to attempt to kick Rei in the back hard. Hakuda was an art that she was rather fond of and with her natural physical strength, it would sting a fair bit if she actually hit the girl.
