Re: Earning your Scales [Lerna, Hana]

Huh, it really WAS arcing to the floor. There was a brief moment of confusion on Lerna's face at the strange behavior. She expected it to maybe miss, explode, or just sortof fizzle. But the bizarre behavior of the straight attack simply shooting toward the floor was a mystery. But she didn't let that stop her as she closed in and promptly snatched the front of Hana's uniform. With a sudden and hefty exertion of strength, she lifted the girl clean off her feet before dropping her onto her back in the sand, using anough force to wind the girl for a few seconds Though truth be told, she almost felt a little bad. This seemed way more ....weird than just a misfire.
Hmmmm... She circled Hana for a moment and considered just keeping up the pressure. But that seemed unfair given the situation. Maybe she needed to see it one more time.
"Alright girly, nice enough for your first try. Up an at em so we can try again." She called out, this time watching the girl much more closely. Surely something was causing this strange behavior, hopefully a bit of closer inspection might help her figure out what it was.

Hana barely saw her at the corner of her eyes when the front of her uniform was grabbed. She was lifted from her feet and thrown to the ground so easily; she had no chance to really counter it. However, she did not stay on the ground. She winced, taking around two seconds to catch her breath, and then rolled over. As she got to her feet to be ready to continue, she noticed Lerna was stopped. She got up when Lerna told her to, but was confused. "Did I do something wrong?" Hana asked.
Hana dusted off the sand that stuck to her uniform, watching Lerna, who seemed to be watching her closer than before. It was a little off-putting, but not in an awkward way. Hana was worried. She always found herself freaking out about her kido. She was either scared it was going to explode, hit someone it shouldn't or backfire and harm herself. Even though she was good at it while on her own, if any other person was near her, she completely choked, like she did now.

Lerna perked up a bit and tilted her head when Hana spoke up. Ah, right she kinda probably made that a little obvious huh. She put on a sheepish smile and cleared her throat. "Ahah, It's.... not necessarily... bad. It's just a little strange. Kido is a sort of ... it's not quite like a normal attack. Byakurai for example is just a concentrated shot of spirit energy. It has a general shape of lightning and has some qualities, but it's not ....literal lightning from what I understand. It's a straigth shot, but it never adjusts it's path for like... metal or anything. Your spell is like.... it doesn't seem like a Byakurai. It's .... just acting ....like lightning. trying to ground itself. Which is a little perplexing." Se chuckled, rubbing the back of her neck.
"It's mostly just a little odd, heh. I kinda am not really sure how to ...give ya tips." she admitted, tapping her chin as she did so.

With what Lerna explained, Hana felt... discouraged. It showed on her face too as she stared at her hands, completely frustrated. She didn't know what to do about this. However, she didn't think all was lost. If anything, this showed her that there was something very specific she had to do. This could not have been just a lack of kido understanding. She read every book and passed her classes enough to get here, right? Something more had to be in the way. Hanna took a deep breath.
"That's all right," Hana said and bowed respectfully. "Your help has made me realize I should approach a specialist in kido. Something more feels off here." Hana collected her sword and began heading to the exit. "Next time we meet, I'll be thanking you for helping me take another step forward. Good luck!"
