Seaside Fight Night: Yumichika vs. Reida

This is a no-holds-barred match to knock out, concession, or disqualification. The arena is assumed to be sufficiently sized for combat, a 25m square raised pavilion inside of a larger 100m square field. Outside of this 100m square field is a 10m buffer zone for the purposes of ring-out. Beyond this buffer zone is a barrier erected by the Gotei Captains Kuchiki and Urahara, so assume it can withstand all but the most absolutely extreme destruction. Combatants will begin the match each on one corner of the raised pavilion.

A reminder that breaking any of these rules is grounds for immediate disqualification:
1. Anyone who leaves the boundaries of the ring is disqualified.
2. Injuring or involving spectators in the match is grounds for immediate disqualification.
3. Killing blows are strictly forbidden.

Breaking these rules will result in a combatant being immediately rendered unconscious by way of Binding Contract with Albedochiffren Director Kishar.

In the right corner: Coordinator of the Vandenreich's Todgestalten, Reida Ray Copeland.

"Eh?"

The most beautiful shinigami of them all cocked his head at the sight of his opponent. A sweet little flower with an ugly stigma, my my what an ugly eyepatch she wore. Those stings must be so painful but he'd show her the difference between a flower and a weed. A flower was to be appreciated but a weed was to be cut down; pruned back to hide in the dark where it belonged.

"Well, well. I'm quite dejected they made me fight a pirate, with only one eye to appreciate the display I'm about to put on. What a shame."

He mused from afar. Drawing out his zanpakuto with a faint grin, he loved the thrill of a fight. This quincy better have something good about her because there were two outcomes. She gets cut down so fast that there is nothing to enjoy or he must try and lose in the most beautiful way possible. A loss could be a win if he did it in the most spectacular way possible. What secrets did the unsightly pirate he was facing hide under that eyepatch?

"Ayasegawa Yumichika. Third Seat of the Second Division, and let me introduce the sword that will cut you down...."

A quick swing of his sword, upon the conclusion of that swing it had unfurled into its five bladed form.

"Bloom, Fuji Kujaku"

Reida had been pretty glad to volunteer for a bout here, and not just because of some sense of duty or patriotism or what have you. First and foremost, it'd be a good opportunity to get a little more training in with something besides her Fullbring. Couldn't exactly go shooting someone in a show match, after all. But second, and perhaps just as important, Reida was rather glad to have an opportunity to beat a Shinigami. Wasn't like she was the fondest of them, after all.

And then this fruitcup decided to really needle her, huh?

"Sorry, fella, but I ain't interested in your little flower display. Ya showin' off for a boyfriend in the stands?"

Shaking out her hands only briefly, Reida quickly focused her blut fully into offense, before stepping toward her opponent with a hirenkyaku and throwing out an exceptionally quick punch toward the prettyboy's face. Sure, it wasn't anything spectacular, but it also wasn't supposed to be. She was testing the waters, not taking risks just yet. Besides, she could afford to be a little reckless in ways other people probably couldn't.

"Ohoho. Such language."

He would never entertain the idea of a partner, there was only one person for him. Him, himself and he. Though for the moment he would not put another scathing remark just yet. He had things to worry about as Reida rocketed towards him she was quick but Yumichika's met her headon. His Fuji Kujaku slashing directly at the woman's torso to gore it and slash across her stomach as he ran past and winced from the blow he'd taken to his shoulder.

"My my, you would imply I had a boyfriend and yet it was my nose assaulted with the smell of men all over you when we connected."

It was a feign but women were so fickle about these things. He wanted her thinking about his taunts while he was contemplating the factors which had given him a bit of trouble. Hirenyaku was obvious but he could hardly say he was overly familiar with quincy techniques in the flesh. Something was making her stronger though.

"Smell of men, eh? Sorry, pal, only one man for me. Guess I shouldn't be surprised you'd be so keen for the smell of a man, though."

As the slash connected with her stomach, Reida gritted her teeth, narrowly avoiding her guts spilling onto the floor thanks to her footwork. That'd been close. Sure, she'd been through way worse than that, but she didn't want to go showing her whole hand right from the start. She could deal with a few cuts for now, even if they were a bit deeper than she'd have liked. Turning to aim one open hand toward her opponent, Reida focused on both her own spiritual energy and the reishi surrounding her, pulling on it to feed into a spell as she spoke.

"Catechism: Illumine."

As she spoke, Reida's hand closed, ribbon-like formations of glowing blue energy shooting from between her fingers and forming into a cross shape, before a sky blue beam shot from the center of it directly toward her opponent, followed by four more, one from each point of the cross. It wasn't an especially complicated spell, but Reida wouldn't have ever imagined herself doing anything close to that a few years back.

"Bakudō #8. Goken Seki"

He muttered as she cast her own spell, quietly to himself while aiming his zanpakuto towards her. It was a basic modification designed for Fuji Kujaku with its plumage of five blades. A single seki at the end of each spike to be struck with her spell's five beams to redirect them back at her. Cheap parlour tricks, what a shame. He was looking for a fight here and if that's what she wanted to do then he'd just force her to dance to his song.

Following her redirected attack Yumichika dashed right back to close to the distance between them under the veil of the explosion and apply some pressure, it would be a proper melee.

It was child's play to absorb the energy from her own spell, at the very least, and Reida drew it back into herself without needing to focus on it much. That was good, too, because her opponent was right on top of her now. Seemed like he didn't wanna maintain the distance, eh? Fine by her, then.

Once more reinforcing her arms with Blut Arterie, Reida moved directly toward Yumichika, much of her enhancement focused on the inside of her arm specifically. That was just what she'd need, after all, as she moved right toward her opponent to lay into him with a clothesline. She had the height advantage, thankfully, so that worked out well.

Whether or not the clothesline actually laid him out was pretty irrelevant, though. Getting in close was the primary aim here, especially considering that sword of his.

Damn Quincies. He complained, so frugal and persistent with trying to take control of the scene. Can't she see that there's only one spectacle deserving of people's eyes right now, and it wasn't her.

"Foolish as she is tall."

What an interesting move though to try and bring her arm up like that seemed utterly moronic to him. He had every intent of punishing her for it and so what was going to be a slash anyway was aimed to cut into and maim the arm that wanted to coat hang him.

Admittedly he was ill prepared for the amount of force that came through his sword and was thrown off balance. It had kept him from getting the full amount of force he'd wanted to put into her arms.

Grinning as her opponent's sword cut into her arm, Reida seemed wholly unconcerned with the fact that it had gone deep. It hadn't cut all the way through, and that worked out for her perfectly. Flexing just enough to keep him from pulling the sword away as easily, Reida used her other arm to swing hard toward his midsection. The injury was a bit much, but she certainly wasn't finished here any time soon.

"Sorry, little guy, but I ain't no baby."

Rearing her head back, Reida aimed a tremendous headbutt squarely for Yumichika's face, blut coursing through her head now as well. Sure, she could have defended, but that wasn't the way to go for this just yet. She could do that later, when things got a little bit worse. This guy was still on the back foot for now.

If she thought that his shikai was in a bad position then she was sorely mistaken, the blade left its shikai state and the blade embedded in the arm disappeared and the plumage of five blades dissipated to reform into its sealed state. It was back to a simple katana which let him take a step back, if she would so recklessly commit to following through with her attack then he could just as easily step into her and impale his foe.

"Nice try, you inelegant gnat."

He said to her before swinging his sword to slash at her in a flurry of strikes. Pressure her and seize the advantage if she played it safe by deciding against her offence..
