Clinch River Incident

Things are peaceful, relatively speaking. But it seems that those are always the times when the most unusual occurrences happen.

Among the Appalachian mountains of eastern Tennessee, in the valley of the Clinch River, a spiritual burst has been recorded of significant power, and perhaps more pressingly, of unknown origin. It resembles no currently known permutations of typical reishi, and as such, it naturally has caught the attention of the organizations which maintain interest in Earth. However, even before any organization was capable of mounting a response, paramilitary forces of unknown origin and no apparent affiliation had already descended on the area. Their presence suggests knowledge of the event before its occurrence, and one thing is certain from preliminary reconnaissance; they are not willing to speak on the matter, and will maintain their perimeter by force.

Because of this, interested organizations are now given no other option but to assemble task forces to investigate this matter.


Due to the unknown and potentially volatile nature of the situation in Clinch River, it is at this time recommended that those with a high level of destructive capability are kept away from the area and left on standby. Characters of a lower to middling power level are recommended for these situations, but those who are exceptionally interested and have compelling reason to join at a higher level of power may still apply and discuss the matter with the GMs.

Due to the potential danger of a situation which involves wholly unknown energies, this emission has called the attention of those organizations most involved with both the Earth's safety and with spiritual matters, and members of the following organizations are encouraged to join:
-The Gotei United
-The Vandenreich
-Lux Orior
-The Iramasha Union

However, these organizations are not the only parties vying for attention. If the character you wish to use for this event is not affiliated with those organizations, then it is still very easy to join by working as a freelancer for one of several other interested parties, in particular the nation of Vastime and the corporate enterprises of the Duvalier Group. Those unfamiliar with these factions are encouraged to ask about the opportunity if interested!


This event will be one which puts players into direct conflicts of interest with one another in many cases. Players should expect to be put into a potential PvP situation, outside of the guarantee for PvE combat. Diplomatic and social options will also be present. Anyone who wishes to join is encouraged to make clear if there is any particular sort of writing that they would prefer to focus on for this event.

In short, this is an event for anyone and everyone, and content will vary wildly based on both the situation and the characters involved. However, characters who possess an extremely high level of destructive power are not recommended, on account of the potentially volatile nature of the energy being operated with at this time.


Signups for this event will end on January 7. After signups have completed, briefing threads will be made for those participating, and players will be grouped according to affiliations. The event will formally begin on January 14. Posting deadlines will be strictly enforced, and each posting cycle will have a duration of 7 days before it is forcibly continued. This is in order to maintain the flow of the narrative and allow the plot to continue.
