History

At the prime age of three, Haneul's parents died in a car crash on their way home from a dinner date, his babysitter being the first to hear the news.

He doesn't really remember them. Sometimes he has flashes of scents, of kind eyes and touches, and blurry blobs of color moving. A soft kiss on his forehead, or being held in warm arms. Things that continued to bring him comfort well into his teenage years.

Haneul lived comfortably in a fairly well funded orphanage for the next two years, developing a bit of a mean attitude that never really went away. He would talk back to the adults whenever he could, getting punished quite a few times, and it only worsened as he continued to get older.

One day, a woman arrived at the orphanage. "My name is Raisa Faust," he remembers her saying with accented korean as she crouched down in front of him, her bright red eyes glittering with amusement. Her pale pink lips quirked in a smile as she reached out to pat his head, running her fingers over his hair. "Looks like you have the same hair color as me, hmm?"

Her eyes widened momentarily and then she burst out in laughter after he replied, like the precocious child he was, "No! You have the same hair color as me. I was here first!"

"You are a funny one, child. Ein freches Kind. I shall see you soon."

And then she was gone. But not for long. After a few days, Raisa came back, Haneul and the other kids waiting with baited breath as she disappeared into the orphanage head's office, likely to discuss adopting one of the children. Her last words to Haneul continued to repeat in his mind the whole time, until finally the door opened. The children around it trying to eavesdrop scattered, and everyone else tried to pretend like they hadn't been waiting eagerly for any news.

Only Haneul himself continued to stare as Raisa and the head walked out of the office, agreeable smiles on both of their faces as they shook hands. The white-haired woman turned around and scanned the immediate vicinity, her ruby eyes finally locking on his. Her smile widened at the sight of him. "Haneul!" she called out to him, waving energetically. "Go pack! I'm bringing you home!"

The five year old ran up to her and gave her a quick hug before running off to do as she said, gathering up his meagre belongings and clothing, a huge smile on his face the whole time.

His new mother had been renting a high rise apartment nearby and had been living there for about a month before she'd first visited the orphanage. He had no new father, no new siblings, and a single new pet: A lazy white cat named Weiss.

» Spirit Weapon Name: Curtana

» Spirit Weapon Appearance:
While Hanuel's Spirit Weapon is named after the famous Sword of Mercy, it is, not, in fact, a sword. It is not even the standard ranged weapon a Quincy's Sprit Weapon typically appears as. Curtana takes the form of a simple silver-colored bo, 6 feet in length and 1.25 inches thick. The color belies the flexibility of the weapon, coming off as metal, while in reality, the weight and durability of Curtana are more akin to being made of oak.

Stehender Himmel

When Stehender Himmel is active, Haneul's hair becomes longer and messier, and he gains a bright red line on his waterline. A ruby-like jewel appears embedded in the middle on his chest, surrounded by golden markings, which are typically hidden by his clothing. His shirt morphs to become a black and red crop top with a diamond shape cut out in order to display the oval gem, while the bottom of his jacket turns into a flame-like substance that is neither hot nor cold, merely acts like a flame. His jacket also has a hood he can pull up if he so pleases. Haneul also gains gloves and golden earrings.
