Reina Arácnida [Evolución] [Approved, 2-4; Hazard Rank D]
Fri Nov 08, 2019 11:18 am
THE HOLLOW TEMPLATE
The First Evolución
I. Biography
» Name: Reina Arácnida
» Age: 821 Years
» Gender: Female
» Race: Estado Evolución
» Association (Individuals): Arianda Vael; Elyss Kishimoto; Ulv Auber
» Association (Locations): Minatumi Harbour
» Association (Organizations): Gotei United (Former); Unabara Clan (Former)
Reina's hole announcing her as a Hollow is located in her stomach, where her navel would normally be found. This signifies her endless hunger, and the appetite that lead her back down the path of Hollowfication. She has no traditional mask, as a Hollow, or estigma, as an Arrancar, but rather is covered in a black and red chitin across various parts of her body.
She is 6' 2".
II. Personality
Reina is hunger, domination and a self-serving attitude distilled down to their purest forms. It is not only easy for her to take the lead in a group, but her very being commands that she do so and detests the idea of being ruled over by another. She is extremely proud, selfish and thinks predominantly of herself and her own needs before those of others. She simply takes that which she desires and makes it her own, whether that something be an individual, property or blood.
She believes and lives by the creed that strength is what writes the morals of the world. The strong are so by birthright, and those without are only as good as tools or sustenance for those with. Strength may come in many forms, whether physical or monetary, measured in land or command; no matter the source, it simply is.
She is ruthless, and more than glad to make an example of one who displeases her by consuming them. At these moments, her sadistic tendencies shine for all to see, and she gleefully revels in them. When the opportunity to land a killing blow on her opponent presents itself, she may decide instead to prolong the fight to make them suffer just a little more.
Underneath the pride, passion and resolve, however, Reina can be cowardly. She holds no qualms about a fair fight, but only sees the paths to victory which she might take. She does not live to fight another day, but rather, she fights to live to enjoy the next day. Life is cruel and unforgiving, and if one is not the same, then it will take every inch that it is allowed.
Numerous betrayals throughout her many lives and the very circumstance of her birth have deeply rooted an acute paranoia within her mind. She finds it difficult to truly trust another, or to open up to them.
She is highly protective of that which she has deemed to be her property. Whether an individual she is fond of, a lover or a comrade in arms, she responds to threats towards their well-being with anger and violence. It's times like these that she may forget her own cowardice, in favor of defending her own.
Reina can be short sighted, and prefers to live in the moment and enjoy herself than to dwell too much on the future. She likes to be around others, and can be quite social in the right mood, though she does have a deep appreciation for quiet and intimate moments, as well.
She has retained her fondness for romantic literature and confectionery, as well as her distaste for still and dead forms of art, such as paintings and sculptures. She is quite easily swayed by music and other emotional forms of performance.
III. History
Reina has lived under many names in her lifetimes: Lord Adán. Skitterer. Arácnida. However, to most throughout her time, she was simply Abigaíl.
- A Life Worth Living:
Born in the fall of 1598 to a poor family of serfs in southern Spain, Abigaíl was adopted by a neighboring Lord and Lady who were unable to have a child of their own. She was raised as their son, Adán, and taught mathematics and to read and write from an early age. Over the years, she made friends with many of the children of other nobles and the family's servants, both.
Disaster struck during her childhood, as disease swept across the land and took her parents. As the only "son" of the bloodline, she was set to inherit the family's wealth and land when she had come of age, and was taken in by an elderly servant by the name of Emma, who became a surrogate mother during these harsh times.
At the beginning of her teenage years, Abigaíl's developing body presented a new problem, in that the Espinosa family was supposed to have a son. Emma helped her to hide this from others, and all was well for several years. In her nineteenth year, however, a door left unintentionally unlocked resulted in chaos, as a young servant girl caught her in the bath. The girl, Florencia, was quick to hold this discovered secret over the young woman's head, and made her life hell for several months.
Against her will, the family's wealth was squandered. Their name was dragged through the mud over and over again, and Abigaíl herself subjected to humiliation at the hands of those she was supposed to trust. In the end, she had had enough, and attacked Florencia in a fit of rage, only for the girl's friends to come to her defense. She isn't sure who held the dagger, but only that its cold steel slipped between her ribs, and the fear she felt as she lay dying on the floor.
Chained to the walls by her regret, resentment and, most importantly, hatred, Abigaíl watched and seethed unseen as her family's property and memories were picked apart, sold and taken away. She was almost unaware of the hunger at first, but it quickly became all she could think about. The last thing she still recalls before her memory failed her: the face of Florencia as she was torn apart by monstrous teeth and claws.
- A Second Chance:
The first thing Abigaíl remembers is waking in a very different world than her own. Some five hundred years after her death, her soul had been granted its relief, and was given new life in the Zaraki district of the Rukongai. Her status meant nothing here. Her secrets meant nothing here.
She had nothing at all to hide anymore.
Over time, she made a home of her new environment. Her martial skill served her well in taking charge of a local gang, and life was good, for a time. Different, but good. Laughter and joy were shared with her fellows in the afterlife, and her influence and territory slowly grew outward.
Some years after her arrival in the Zaraki district, a Shinigami arrived to do battle with a Hollow that had been plauging the area. Unfortunately, the woman fell in battle, and Abigaíl lead her forces to slay the injured monster. It was only by taking the blade from its hide and cutting a large gash in its side that the creature retreated, leaving the gang leader to celebrate her supposed victory.
Much to her anger, however, the next Shinigami to arrive merely took an account of what had happened, then left. He couldn't have been bothered to chase after the Hollow, nor did he care too much for the asauchi the young woman had wielded in battle.
So, Abigaíl made the most of her fortune, and her reputation spread as one able to fight back against the Hollow that preyed upon them. Over the next few months, her forces even absorbed a couple of rival gangs, to her satisfaction. However, with this fame came responsibility, and with responsibility, came greater dangers.
Due to the usual slow response from Shinigami, she had taken it upon herself to defend her territory from the Hollow that sought only to destroy them. Men and women were trained, and defenses built until the area was turned into what could only be described as a fortress. For a few months, this was enough.
However, the Hollow from that day did return, under the cover of night and much larger than it'd been before. It was only by spotting the scar on its side during its rampage that Abigaíl did recognize the beast, and a fierce battle ensued. When it seemed the monster would be victorious, a disembodied voice came to the young woman, and after calling out her sword's name, she ran the monster through as it'd leapt upon her to deal a finishing blow.
She would never forget the weight of its body as it fell upon her, or the taste of its blood in her mouth.
- A Soul Split:
Life never quite returned to normalcy after that battle. Abigaíl's gang cheered for her feat of strength, though she could only think of the monster's shrill call as it pounced. She couldn't make the sword transform again, but whenever the world was otherwise silent, she could hear a faint scratching at the back of her mind.
The scratching preyed on her sanity over the coming weeks, until following a successful raid on a rival gang for food and supplies, Abigaíl took one of the women back to her room as her prize. She never spoke of what happened, but everyone knew the woman wasn't seen again, and their leader had stopped appearing so skittish for a time.
More years passed, and her new inclinations only grew more horrific. Flesh was the only thing that kept the scratching noise in her head quiet, and as her appetite grew, it became more difficult to hide. Finally, she was confronted about the countless that had gone missing, and all things came to light.
Anger and fear took over the young woman then, and she blacked out only momentarily. When she awoke, it was in a grand and exquisite mansion, and she was guest to a monstrous woman that called her by name. The woman named Arácnida attacked her, and their fight lasted for what seemed like hours.
When she was near the point of exhaustion, a voice came to Abigaíl from up the stairs of the mansion, and she called out its name for a second time. Her sword transformed, and for a moment, the balance of power was tipped in her favor. However, the spider retreated, making threats all the while.
She awoke from her dream then, only to witness the nightmare that had been wrought. In the mere minutes since blacking out, all that had stood to accuse her lay dead at her feet, and many more still in the wake of her rage. Tears fell down her cheeks, chasing away the last remnants of the Hollow she'd become.
The week to follow her rampage saw those previously loyal turn against her, as no matter the excuses she spun, the facts were very clear. Abigaíl found herself shunned, and exiled in every way that mattered. Angry and confused, she left to seek out answers in the only place she could think to look...
- A God of Death:
It took time to find a Shinigami willing to listen to her plight. Those sent to the Zaraki district were often unhelpful, but in one of the more compassionate swordsmen, she found an ear and a helpful hand. By his escort, she was taken to the center ring of Soul Society to be examined thoroughly.
Unfortunately for her, the news was anything but hopeful. Within her soul was harbored that of a Hollow, kept momentarily at bay by the brunt of her untapped power. Its return was inevitable, though she was given the choice of two options: she could be executed, to spare others the horror of her eventual hollowfication, or she could accept training that may help her to subdue the infection herself. Needless to say, she chose the latter and was immediately enrolled into the training course of the Gotei.
With the threat of hollowfication ever looming, her training began at a breakneck pace. As she had already imprinted upon the asauchi she carried, it was up to her to make meaningful contact with her zanpakutō spirit. To do so, however, meant returning to the world where she had fought with Arácnida before.
The scratching noise returned as her stress over the coming fight built.
Abigaíl was more prepared for their second battle. With a deeper understanding of swordplay and her zanpakutō's spirit assisting, the battle was hardly quick, but it was decisive. With the monster cornered and laid bare on its back before her blade, she cast it from the home and into the darkness of the surrounding forest, thinking to banish it from taking control again. In the world outside, her rampage ended, as with the threat of her hollowfication. All was normal again...
Save for the mask she now wore.
By the time she'd graduated as a full-fledged Shinigami, the worst of World War 3 was behind them. She was quickly swept away to the combat division, where her skills could be honed further, and she could better practice control over her other half. Eventually, she discovered a talent that was more easily exploited in the stealth force, and was given her first assassination mission.
She enjoyed a newfound freedom in the stealth force, one she hadn't felt in the combat division. Missions were her own to carry out, and most of the time, she was on her own and free to use her power with less danger to an ally. She was quick to specialize in hunting the more elusive Hollow that gave other divisions trouble, and earned a reputation for efficiency and dedication to her work.
Unbeknownst to her superiors, however, her dedication had held ulterior motives. In the Seireitei, she was watched much too closely to act on her desires and needs, but in the field, she could do as she pleased without the questioning gaze of other Shinigami. Not only could she fight as she wished, but she could satisfy her hunger all the while.
She discovered that Hollow flesh had the sweetest taste to it, above and beyond that of any Plus.
She was known to volunteer for the missions that gave others pause, ones which sent her alone or with greatly limited backup to dispatch more powerful prey. Sometimes, they weren't even Hollow. The times when she'd taken on more responsibility than she could handle were few, but they did exist, and she learned from these mistakes how to better press what advantages she had. Speed was to become her domain, where she acquired the skill to be better than those she felled in battle.
- A Fallen God:
Several decades in the stealth force treated her well, helped her to grow and kept her fed. However, as her power grew, so too did the Hollow's within her. Numerous attempts to forcefully take control of her body had failed, and after so long, it changed its tactic. What had once been overt exchanges of aggression became smaller, more subtle prods at her psyche.
She was the Gotei's enemy, it told her. They would turn on her, eventually, just like everyone else in her life. For the longest time, she did her best to ignore the voice of her other half.
However, one small mistake was all it took to bring her world toppling down again, just as before. A fellow Shinigami approached her after a mission, and confronted her about her actions. He had seen her eating the flesh of the Hollow she was supposed to purify, and threatened to report her to her superiors, who would surely punish her for her crimes.
Rage and dread took hold of her again, and her accuser was permanently silenced. The Hollow wasted no time in speaking, and in a moment of weakness, she agreed with it. She had crossed the line, after all. She had slain an ally, and in a moment of anger, no less. He hadn't even tasted good...
With the blood of her fallen prey staining the ground of the Rukongai, she hastily took the power offered by her other half, and vanished into the waiting darkness of the world between worlds.
She lived out the next century in exile from the Soul Society, as a vagabond. Any chances of lucidity and reflection were quickly snuffed out by her Hollow, as it only reinforced the notion that she was to be hunted for her crime. She hid away in the wastelands of the Earth, where fewer patrols might spot her, and when Shinigami activity rose, retreated to the barren world of Hueco Mundo.
The Hollow within her soul never stopped trying to take control, but rather under the guise of aiding Abigaíl for the sake of self-preservation, opened her eyes to more of what its power could accomplish. It was only recently, in the decade of broiling tension before World War 4 that Arácnida resumed her more blatant attempts to assert dominance, but thus far, Abigaíl has prevailed over her other half each time.
Despite this, the Hollow continues to grow in strength all the while, and she cannot stand against it alone forever...
- A Rising Spirit:
Abigaíl would not be alone forever, as fate would have it. Her battle for possession of her very soul was joined by a comrade in the form of the Vizard named Ulv Auber. She was caretaker, for a time. She was watcher. She was lover. Abigaíl found peace in the harbour city of Minatumi, and slowly, she built the bones of a life again.
However, it was after meeting a boy named Takehiko Kuchiki that fate again reminded her of her struggle. In trying to atone and be a force for good in the world, the progress she had made with Ulv was undone in one swift motion. The hunger had gnawed at her, and in a moment of weakness, she had given in to its demands. She had tasted flesh again, a mere month after her promise to abstain.
The flesh only continued to call to her. Under no more a watchful eye than when she wished for it, Abigaíl continued to feed her darker desires. While she treated herself and enjoyed the pleasures of life, her other half reveled in the twisted truth of it all. Behind the veil of cooperation and a vague sense of camaraderie, she would bide her time until the Vizard was at her most vulnerable.
It was around this time that she first met the Demon, Arianda Vael, who would prove only another vice with which to distract herself. Drunk on her own power and more, Abigaíl failed to realize the imbalance growing in her soul, as her other half amassed its leverage against her. In due time, she would come to realize that her actions would have consequences, whether she acknowledged them or not.
The nightmares had begun small. One or two here, before they quickly became a nightly occurrence. Visions of the dead haunted her; the dead that she had killed. The dead that she had consumed. It was a warning from her very soul that there was still time to correct her many mistakes, yet she couldn't listen. Her self-destructive course continued, until...
IV. Natural Abilities
» Alert: Eight hundred years living as a Hollow or in the Zaraki district have left Reina naturally wary of her surroundings. She is quick to react to the slightest stimuli, and always prepared for an ambush.
» Poise: Reina possesses an impeccable poise and sense of balance. She is an adept climber, and very light on her feet.
» Speed: Reina is swift and nimble, and used to making quick attacks with precision. While her bursts of speed are exceptional, she is less capable using such speeds over long periods of time.
» Swordsmanship: In addition to her supernatural powers, Reina is a deadly combatant with a single-handed blade, and favors strikes to the head, body and arms, in particular. These habits tend to bleed into her use of other attacks, including unarmed combat.
V. Racial Techniques, Abilities & Skills
» Bala de Veneno: Bala charged with Reina's corrosive energy. Rather than a concussive impact, these projectiles deliver her Acidic Touch at range and high speeds. This ability consumes more energy than a standard Bala.
» la Estocada: A preternaturally swift thrust with the blade that extends half as far beyond Reina's usual reach. The attack itself is twice as fast and powerful as normal, but leaves her open to counterattack as she recovers afterward.
During Resurrección, Reina may perform this skill with her extra limbs, without the increase in range.
» Llamada de los Condenados: As a Hollow, Reina possesses the ability to instinctively command the lesser members of her species. At her current level of power, she may control Lesser Hollow at tier 4 and Gillian at tier 3. Beginning at tier 2-5, she may control four Lesser Hollow at a time, increasing by two for every sub-tier increase until capping with 20 at tier 1-2. As dominating a Gillian poses more of a challenge, each individual is worth two Lesser Hollow, for the purpose of tracking the number of Hollow she has enthralled.
Should an enthralled Hollow escape her control or be willingly released, it will either rampage in an attempt to satisfy its hunger, attack Reina in retribution for its domination, or flee back to the safety of Hueco Mundo. This ability can only enthrall the weak-willed, and thus, cannot dominate another player's character.
» Mordedura de Araña: Reina coats her zanpakutō in a strong corrosive energy, increasing the sword's cutting power by an amount relative to the potency of her Acidic Touch and leaving wounds that ache and burn severely. At an Adept level of Acidic Touch, her sword's cutting power is increased by 20%. For every skill level higher, the effect is increased by another 10%.
During Resurrección, this same trait applies to her extra limbs.
» Sonido: Reina's instinctive skill with high speed movements extends to and beyond her use of the Shinigami's Flash Step. As a Hollow, she is capable of performing Sonido at the same level of skill as Hoho.
» Subida: Playing to her strengths as a natural climber, Reina utilizes smaller platforms than usual for the purpose of flight. She may stand on or hold to these platforms with her hands, giving the impression of climbing or crawling up sheer surfaces.
» Veneno Cero: Cero charged with Reina's corrosive energy. These blasts leave a lasting trace of highly acidic residue, which continues to damage and burn the target for two posts per level of Acidic Touch above Beginner. This secondary damage is relative to her Acidic Touch. This ability consumes more energy than a standard Cero.
VI. Powers
» Hollow Power: Reina possesses a powerful bite akin to a spider that delivers her Acidic Touch at its full potency. An individual can be affected by a single unique bite at a time, and a new one overwrites the old.
» Mordida de Veneno, Consumir: Reina's bite inflicts a wound with terrible acidic energies that infects the body and breaks it down from within. The potency and longevity of this effect increases with her overall power: the target's durability (and similar physical defenses) is reduced by 10% for two posts at tier 3, by 20% and four posts at tier 2-5, 30% and six posts at tier 2-2, 40% and eight posts at tier 1-5, 50% and ten posts at tier 1-3, 60% and twelve posts at tier 1-1, and finally 75% and fifteen posts at tier 0.
» Mordida de Veneno, Reprimir: Reina's bite inflicts a wound with persistent acidic energies that infects the body and inhibits its ability to self repair. The potency and longevity of this effect increases with her overall power: the target's Regeneration skill (and similar healing abilities) is nullified for two posts if at Beginner level or below at tier 3, at Adept level at tier 2-3, at Advanced level at tier 2-1, at Elite level at tier 1-3, and finally at Master level at tier 1-1. The duration of this effect is increased by two posts for every level the target's Regeneration is below Reina's current limit.
VII. Resurrección
» Resurrección Name: Matriarcha del Arácnida
» Resurrección Release Phrase: N/A
» Resurrección Release Actions: Reina consumes her zanpakutō.
» Resurrección Appearance: Reina sprouts four long, black, powerful limbs akin to that of a spider from the middle of her back. These limbs move with the same speed, power and ease as her arms and legs. The final segment of each limb is lined with a row of sharp teeth, allowing for their use as cutting weapons.
» Resurrección Abilities: In Resurrección, Reina awakens to the full scope of her powers as a Hollow, and twists the nature of her zanpakutō to match.
» Extra Limbs: The four limbs that sprout from Reina's back during Resurrección are four feet in length, and as fast and strong as her arms and legs. The inside of the final segment of each limb is adorned with a row of sharp teeth, allowing for its use as a cutting weapon. The carapace that covers each limb is as hard as Hierro, and grows more durable with Reina's overall level of power: a Beginner Hierro at tier 2-5, Adept at tier 2-2, Advanced at tier 1-5, Elite at tier 1-2, and finally Master at tier 0-5. This carapace cannot be made harder through focus.
» Web de Arácnidas: By activating shikai or bankai from within her Resurrección, Reina gains access to all the abilities thereof. Abilities and techniques that would normally require the use of her zanpakutō instead substitute her extra limbs. Such forms are subject to the same constraints as from without Resurrección, including time, and their use may result in the loss of this higher form at a crucial moment.
---
» Alambre Ácido: The threads spun by Reina through her shikai and bankai are coated in her acidic energy. Any person or object that comes into contact with the thread is damaged as though by her Acidic Touch.
VIII. Zanpakutō
» Zanpakutō Name: Araña
» Sealed Zanpakutō Appearance: Araña appears as an espada ropera, or rapier. The blade is long and thin, and largely silver in color, leading back to a flared, white guard with a singular, thin bar that fits over the hand. The handle itself is comprised of black segments overlaying smaller strips of parallel white bars. The blade is sharpened for three-quarters its length.
» Sealed Zanpakutō Powers: Araña possesses a strong adhesive force that is controlled mentally by Reina. When in her hands, the sword cannot be forcibly removed from her grip against her will, nor from anything that the blade might touch. This trait does not extend to other objects or people, however.
IX. Shikai
» Shikai Release Phrase: "Weave!"
» Shikai Release Actions: Reina releases Araña with a quick flourish, twirling the blade in a showy fashion as it changes form.
» Shikai Appearance: Araña becomes much more elaborate and intricate in its design in shikai. The guard expands outward and takes on a motif akin to a spider's closed legs, adopting a basket-hilt style. Two short prongs appears at the blade's tip, with no clear purpose at a glance.
» Shikai Abilities: In shikai, Araña discharges a fine, strong thread from the tip of the blade that adheres to anything the weapon may come into contact with, save for Reina herself. This thread has a durability relative to Reina's overall level of power: Beginner at tier 3, Adept at tier 2-5, Advanced at tier 2-2, Elite at tier 1-4, and Master at tier 1-1.
» Bala de Teleraña: Reina contains the power of her shikai within a Bala that is fired towards her target. Upon impact or at her behest, the projectile explodes into a rapidly expanding sheet of adhesive, akin to a cobweb. The speed at which this web expands is comparable to the speed of the Bala.
» Explorador Web: By discharging multiple threads as light as the air, Reina lays her web over a radius of up to one mile. She may detect the location of any person or object, and their movement within this radius via the changes in vibrations through the threads as they drift. This ability takes one post to perform and can be prolonged through focus, but ends when Araña is moved suddenly or forcefully enough to engage in combat.
» Web de Anclaje: With swift handling of her shikai, Reina uses Araña's thread to attach two points to one another. She must be able to make contact with both points without moving.
X. Bankai
» Bankai Name:
» Bankai Release Phrase:
» Bankai Release Actions:
» Bankai Appearance:
» Bankai Abilities:
XI. Equipment
» Gigai: A black market body made in the likeness of Abigaíl Espinosa. Reina finds it difficult to get rid of this remnant of her past life.

This is the next stage of evolution for Abigaíl Espinosa. Skills have been left the same, and some abilities have changed where appropriate. Reina's history has been written up to the point of her birth, which will occur within RP.

Comments/Notes:
Everything looks good. Talked in DM's about the scaling on those skill levels for the various abilities. She'll be receiving an increase in Power, Tier, and Focus from Abi, but a decrease in resources due to the adverse affects on her relationships due to the Hollowfication. Have fun!
Tier: 2-4
