I. Basic Information
» Name: Abigaíl Espinosa
» Titles: Lord Adán (Former)
» Appearance Age: 24 years
» True Age: 821 Years
» Gender: Hermaphrodite, Female Pronouns
» Affiliation/Rank: Gotei United - 5th Division - Stealth Force (Former)
» Appearance
Abigaíl stands at 5' 5", and weighs approximately 115 lbs.
II. Personality
Abigail is a passionate woman with a domineering attitude. It is easy for her to take the lead in a group, but difficult to accept the rule of another. She is very proud, and has difficulties asking others for help. She is selfish, flighty and prone to think predominantly of herself before the well-being of others. She takes what she desires and makes it hers, whether that something be men, women, property or blood.
Taught to her at a young age and further reinforced by life's trials, she believes that strength is what writes and justifies one's morals. The strong are so by birthright, and those without are only as good as tools or sustenance for those with. Strength may come in many forms, whether physical or monetary, measured in land or command; no matter the source, it simply is.
She is a practicing cannibal, and makes no apologies for her actions.
Underneath the pride and resolve, Abigaíl can be a coward. In the face of a clearly stronger foe, she has no delusions of a fair fight or standing her ground to the bitter end. She does not live to fight another day, but instead fights to live to enjoy another day. After all, life is cruel and unforgiving, and will take every inch that one allows.
Repeated betrayals throughout her life have left her with an acute paranoia. Even those close to her cannot escape being the subject of darker thoughts, making it difficult for her to truly trust and open up to others.
She is highly protective of those she likes or is close to, whether the person in question be a friend, a lover, a comrade or something else entirely. She may become violent when that which she sees as hers is in some way threatened, and it's times like these that she may rarely forget her cowardice.
Particularly when she's acting from a position of power, Abigaíl has some sadist tendencies. She may opt to injure an opponent rather than make an early killing blow, or if she has reason to hate them, simply inflict torture until her desire for retribution is satisfied.
At times, Abigaíl can be short sighted, and tends to live in the moment when she's able. She likes being around others and can be quite social when the mood strikes, though she does have a deep appreciation for quiet moments and empty nights, as well.
She takes easily to romanticized literature, and has a fondness for confectionery. She does not hold much appreciation for still forms of art , such as paintings or sculptures, but is easily swayed by music and other living, and especially emotional performances.
III. History
A Life Worth Living
Born in the fall of 1598 to a poor family of serfs in southern Spain, Abigaíl was adopted by a neighboring Lord and Lady who were unable to have a child of their own. She was raised as their son, Adán, and taught mathematics and to read and write from an early age. Over the years, she made friends with many of the children of other nobles and the family's servants, both.
Disaster struck during her childhood, as disease swept across the land and took her parents. As the only "son" of the bloodline, she was set to inherit the family's wealth and land when she had come of age, and was taken in by an elderly servant by the name of Emma, who became a surrogate mother during these harsh times.
At the beginning of her teenage years, Abigaíl's developing body presented a new problem, in that the Espinosa family was supposed to have a son. Emma helped her to hide this from others, and all was well for several years. In her nineteenth year, however, a door left unintentionally unlocked resulted in chaos, as a young servant girl caught her in the bath. The girl, Florencia, was quick to hold this discovered secret over the young woman's head, and made her life hell for several months.
Against her will, the family's wealth was squandered. Their name was dragged through the mud over and over again, and Abigaíl herself subjected to humiliation at the hands of those she was supposed to trust. In the end, she had had enough, and attacked Florencia in a fit of rage, only for the girl's friends to come to her defense. She isn't sure who held the dagger, but only that its cold steel slipped between her ribs, and the fear she felt as she lay dying on the floor.
Chained to the walls by her regret, resentment and, most importantly, hatred, Abigaíl watched and seethed unseen as her family's property and memories were picked apart, sold and taken away. She was almost unaware of the hunger at first, but it quickly became all she could think about. The last thing she still recalls before her memory failed her: the face of Florencia as she was torn apart by monstrous teeth and claws.
A Second Chance
The first thing Abigaíl remembers is waking in a very different world than her own. Some five hundred years after her death, her soul had been granted its relief, and was given new life in the Zaraki district of the Rukongai. Her status meant nothing here. Her secrets meant nothing here.
She had nothing at all to hide anymore.
Over time, she made a home of her new environment. Her martial skill served her well in taking charge of a local gang, and life was good, for a time. Different, but good. Laughter and joy were shared with her fellows in the afterlife, and her influence and territory slowly grew outward.
Some years after her arrival in the Zaraki district, a Shinigami arrived to do battle with a Hollow that had been plauging the area. Unfortunately, the woman fell in battle, and Abigaíl lead her forces to slay the injured monster. It was only by taking the blade from its hide and cutting a large gash in its side that the creature retreated, leaving the gang leader to celebrate her supposed victory.
Much to her anger, however, the next Shinigami to arrive merely took an account of what had happened, then left. He couldn't have been bothered to chase after the Hollow, nor did he care too much for the asauchi the young woman had wielded in battle.
So, Abigaíl made the most of her fortune, and her reputation spread as one able to fight back against the Hollow that preyed upon them. Over the next few months, her forces even absorbed a couple of rival gangs, to her satisfaction. However, with this fame came responsibility, and with responsibility, came greater dangers.
Due to the usual slow response from Shinigami, she had taken it upon herself to defend her territory from the Hollow that sought only to destroy them. Men and women were trained, and defenses built until the area was turned into what could only be described as a fortress. For a few months, this was enough.
However, the Hollow from that day did return, under the cover of night and much larger than it'd been before. It was only by spotting the scar on its side during its rampage that Abigaíl did recognize the beast, and a fierce battle ensued. When it seemed the monster would be victorious, a disembodied voice came to the young woman, and after calling out her sword's name, she ran the monster through as it'd leapt upon her to deal a finishing blow.
She would never forget the weight of its body as it fell upon her, or the taste of its blood in her mouth.
A Soul Split
Life never quite returned to normalcy after that battle. Abigaíl's gang cheered for her feat of strength, though she could only think of the monster's shrill call as it pounced. She couldn't make the sword transform again, but whenever the world was otherwise silent, she could hear a faint scratching at the back of her mind.
The scratching preyed on her sanity over the coming weeks, until following a successful raid on a rival gang for food and supplies, Abigaíl took one of the women back to her room as her prize. She never spoke of what happened, but everyone knew the woman wasn't seen again, and their leader had stopped appearing so skittish for a time.
More years passed, and her new inclinations only grew more horrific. Flesh was the only thing that kept the scratching noise in her head quiet, and as her appetite grew, it became more difficult to hide. Finally, she was confronted about the countless that had gone missing, and all things came to light.
Anger and fear took over the young woman then, and she blacked out only momentarily. When she awoke, it was in a grand and exquisite mansion, and she was guest to a monstrous woman that called her by name. The woman named Arácnida attacked her, and their fight lasted for what seemed like hours.
When she was near the point of exhaustion, a voice came to Abigaíl from up the stairs of the mansion, and she called out its name for a second time. Her sword transformed, and for a moment, the balance of power was tipped in her favor. However, the spider retreated, making threats all the while.
She awoke from her dream then, only to witness the nightmare that had been wrought. In the mere minutes since blacking out, all that had stood to accuse her lay dead at her feet, and many more still in the wake of her rage. Tears fell down her cheeks, chasing away the last remnants of the Hollow she'd become.
The week to follow her rampage saw those previously loyal turn against her, as no matter the excuses she spun, the facts were very clear. Abigaíl found herself shunned, and exiled in every way that mattered. Angry and confused, she left to seek out answers in the only place she could think to look...
A God of Death
It took time to find a Shinigami willing to listen to her plight. Those sent to the Zaraki district were often unhelpful, but in one of the more compassionate swordsmen, she found an ear and a helpful hand. By his escort, she was taken to the center ring of Soul Society to be examined thoroughly.
Unfortunately for her, the news was anything but hopeful. Within her soul was harbored that of a Hollow, kept momentarily at bay by the brunt of her untapped power. Its return was inevitable, though she was given the choice of two options: she could be executed, to spare others the horror of her eventual hollowfication, or she could accept training that may help her to subdue the infection herself. Needless to say, she chose the latter and was immediately enrolled into the training course of the Gotei.
With the threat of hollowfication ever looming, her training began at a breakneck pace. As she had already imprinted upon the asauchi she carried, it was up to her to make meaningful contact with her zanpakutō spirit. To do so, however, meant returning to the world where she had fought with Arácnida before.
The scratching noise returned as her stress over the coming fight built.
Abigaíl was more prepared for their second battle. With a deeper understanding of swordplay and her zanpakutō's spirit assisting, the battle was hardly quick, but it was decisive. With the monster cornered and laid bare on its back before her blade, she cast it from the home and into the darkness of the surrounding forest, thinking to banish it from taking control again. In the world outside, her rampage ended, as with the threat of her hollowfication. All was normal again...
Save for the mask she now wore.
By the time she'd graduated as a full-fledged Shinigami, the worst of World War 3 was behind them. She was quickly swept away to the combat division, where her skills could be honed further, and she could better practice control over her other half. Eventually, she discovered a talent that was more easily exploited in the stealth force, and was given her first assassination mission.
She enjoyed a newfound freedom in the stealth force, one she hadn't felt in the combat division. Missions were her own to carry out, and most of the time, she was on her own and free to use her power with less danger to an ally. She was quick to specialize in hunting the more elusive Hollow that gave other divisions trouble, and earned a reputation for efficiency and dedication to her work.
Unbeknownst to her superiors, however, her dedication had held ulterior motives. In the Seireitei, she was watched much too closely to act on her desires and needs, but in the field, she could do as she pleased without the questioning gaze of other Shinigami. Not only could she fight as she wished, but she could satisfy her hunger all the while.
She discovered that Hollow flesh had the sweetest taste to it, above and beyond that of any Plus.
She was known to volunteer for the missions that gave others pause, ones which sent her alone or with greatly limited backup to dispatch more powerful prey. Sometimes, they weren't even Hollow. The times when she'd taken on more responsibility than she could handle were few, but they did exist, and she learned from these mistakes how to better press what advantages she had. Speed was to become her domain, where she acquired the skill to be better than those she felled in battle.
A Fallen God
Several decades in the stealth force treated her well, helped her to grow and kept her fed. However, as her power grew, so too did the Hollow's within her. Numerous attempts to forcefully take control of her body had failed, and after so long, it changed its tactic. What had once been overt exchanges of aggression became smaller, more subtle prods at her psyche.
She was the Gotei's enemy, it told her. They would turn on her, eventually, just like everyone else in her life. For the longest time, she did her best to ignore the voice of her other half.
However, one small mistake was all it took to bring her world toppling down again, just as before. A fellow Shinigami approached her after a mission, and confronted her about her actions. He had seen her eating the flesh of the Hollow she was supposed to purify, and threatened to report her to her superiors, who would surely punish her for her crimes.
Rage and dread took hold of her again, and her accuser was permanently silenced. The Hollow wasted no time in speaking, and in a moment of weakness, she agreed with it. She had crossed the line, after all. She had slain an ally, and in a moment of anger, no less. He hadn't even tasted good...
With the blood of her fallen prey staining the ground of the Rukongai, she hastily took the power offered by her other half, and vanished into the waiting darkness of the world between worlds.
She lived out the next century in exile from the Soul Society, as a vagabond. Any chances of lucidity and reflection were quickly snuffed out by her Hollow, as it only reinforced the notion that she was to be hunted for her crime. She hid away in the wastelands of the Earth, where fewer patrols might spot her, and when Shinigami activity rose, retreated to the barren world of Hueco Mundo.
The Hollow within her soul never stopped trying to take control, but rather under the guise of aiding Abigaíl for the sake of self-preservation, opened her eyes to more of what its power could accomplish. It was only recently, in the decade of broiling tension before World War 4 that Arácnida resumed her more blatant attempts to assert dominance, but thus far, Abigaíl has prevailed over her other half each time.
Despite this, the Hollow continues to grow in strength all the while, and she cannot stand against it alone forever...
IV. Natural Abilities
» Alert: A life of constant danger in the Zaraki district has left Abigaíl wary of her surroundings. She is quick to react to the slightest stimuli, and always prepared for an ambush.
» Poise: Abigaíl's possesses an impeccable poise and sense of balance. She is an adept climber, and very light on her feet.
» Speed: Abigaíl is swift and nimble, and used to making quick attacks with precision. While her bursts of speed are exceptional, she is less capable using such speeds over long periods of time.
» Swordsmanship: Before her ability with a katana or magic, Abigaíl is a skilled fencer, first. She is deadly in combat with a single-handed blade, and favors strikes to the head, body and arms, in particular. These habits tend to bleed into her use of other weapons, and even into unarmed combat.
V. Racial Abilities
» la Estocada: A preternaturally swift thrust with the blade that extends half as far beyond Abigaíl's usual reach. The attack itself is twice as fast and powerful as normal, but leaves her open to counterattack as she recovers afterward.
» Subida: Playing to her strengths as a natural climber, Abigaíl utilizes smaller platforms than usual for the purpose of flight. She may stand on or hold to these platforms with her hands, giving the impression of climbing or crawling up sheer surfaces.
Mask
» Mordedura de Arácnida: The chelicerae on Abigaíl's mask unfold, allowing their use in a powerful bite attack. The toxic venom injected into the target by this attack breaks down the body from the inside, with increasing potency and longevity according to the strength of her Acidic Touch.
With a beginner's Acidic Touch, the target's durability (and similar physical defenses) is reduced by 10%, increasing by 10% again for every skill level higher. Likewise, this effect persists for two posts with a beginner's Acidic Touch, increasing by two more for every skill level higher.
» Mordedura de Araña: While Hollowfied, Abigaíl extends her powers of acidic touch to Araña, coating the blade in a strong corrosive energy. This increases the sword's cutting power by an amount relative to her skill with the hollow power, and leaves wounds that ache and burn more severely. At an Adept level of acidic skill, her sword's cutting power is increased by 20%. For every skill level higher, the effect is increased by another 10%.
Shikai
» Sticky Weave: With swift handling of her shikai, Abigaíl uses Araña's thread to attach two points to one another. She must be able to make contact with both points without moving, and the thread may be cut or broken by a force greater than her force of will.
» Scout Weave: By discharging multiple threads as light as the air, Abigaíl lays her web over a radius of up to one mile. She may detect the location of any person or object, and their movement within this radius via the changes in vibrations through the threads as they drift. This ability takes one post to perform and can be prolonged through focus, but ends when Araña is moved suddenly or forcefully enough to engage in combat.
VI. Zanpakutō
» Zanpakutō Name: Araña
» Zanpakutō Spirit Appearance
» Zanpakutō Spirit Personality: Araña embodies the best of Abigaíl, and can be called almost noble. She espouses a duty to protect those who cannot protect themselves, to give them freedom from tyranny and strife. She is overall selfless, and sees the right and good in the Gotei's mission to protect others from the predator scourge that are Hollow.
She is not merciless, as she believes in giving prey and foe alike a quick death. Torture is beneath her, as is sadism in any form. It is in her very nature to strike down a foe with the killing blow as early and as quickly as possible. It is a very fine line between guardian and killer that she walks with grace and dignity, even when Abigaíl will not.
» Inner World: Abigaíl's inner world is that of a large, well-decorated Spanish mansion. Upon entry, a large sitting room with a vaulted ceiling stretches out, filled with expensive furniture and dotted by a few windows on the front wall. The double doors on this wall do not open, and only a dark, menacing forest can be seen outside the windows. Exploring the mansion further reveals a fully-stocked kitchen, several drawing rooms, a ballroom in horrible state of disuse, and numerous bedrooms on the upper floor. Each room is lit magnificently by candlelight, though unnaturally more bright or dim in certain rooms.
Araña typically wanders the expansive home, returning to the front room when she or Abigaíl are in need of the other. Arácnida, on the other hand, creeps ever vigilantly outside the home. The two share an outward disdain for one another, though have never come to blows within the walls of the home.
An attic and cellar both exist within the home, though their doors are rusted shut and held fast by cobwebs. Araña claims they will open themselves when the time is right, though Arácnida likes to taunt Abigaíl with knowledge she may or may not possess about the contents of each room.
Likewise, a dilapidated shed appears outside the back of the home, into which Arácnida disappears often. Abigaíl has never made it to the door, let alone seen inside.
» Sealed Zanpakutō Appearance: Araña appears as a katana with a slightly straighter edge and a white cloth wrapped around the hilt. The crossguard is hollow in the center, save for the eight curved bars that connect to the outer ring, as though curling around the hilt.
» Sealed Zanpakutō Powers: Araña possesses a strong adhesive force that is controlled mentally by Abigaíl. When in her hands, the sword cannot be forcibly removed from her grip against her will, nor from anything that the blade might touch. This trait does not extend to other objects or people, however.
VII. Shikai
» Shikai Release Phrase: Weave!
» Shikai Release Actions: Abigaíl typically releases Araña with a quick flourish, twirling the blade in a showy fashion as it changes form.
» Shikai Appearance: Araña appears as an espada ropera in shikai, or a rapier. The blade is long and thin, wider and heavier than a short sword but not quite as so than a broadsword, and is sharpened for three-quarters of its length. Its tip ends in a small notch, leaving two short prongs with no clear purpose. The white guard wraps protectively around the hand, like the curled legs of a spider.
» Shikai Abilities: In shikai, Araña discharges a fine, strong thread from the tip of the blade that adheres to anything the weapon may come into contact with, save for Abigaíl herself. This thread is only as durable as the strength of Abigaíl's willpower.
VIII. Bankai
» Bankai Name:
» Bankai Release Phrase:
» Bankai Release Actions:
» Bankai Appearance:
» Bankai Abilities:
IX. Inner Hollow/Mask
» Inner Hollow Name: Arácnida
» Inner Hollow Description
» Inner Hollow Personality: Arácnida is what Abigaíl had once been, forgotten and might become again. She is malicious and conniving, and sadistic in her treatment of her prey. She hungers for power, both to survive and to reign over others. In her eyes, all things are either obstacles to overcome or prey to devour.
She is Araña's negative, espousing freedom to do what one wishes, damn the consequences to others. She is sometimes described as an anarchist, and a gleeful one, at that. Where Abigaíl avoids rules and Araña dodges them for the sake of others, Arácnida isn't satisfied until the very being who dared to restrict her is dealt with on a very personal level.
» Inner Hollow Powers: Arácnida takes the form of a spider, and thus, her power set is reminiscent of the order Araneae. She may spin webs stronger than steel, leap great distances and subdue her prey with a powerful venom. In addition to these natural traits, she shares in the breadth of Abigaíl's knowledge, including swordplay and martial combat.
» Hollow Mask Appearance: Abigaíl's mask is a white structure that covers the entirety of her face, with six red eyes placed on her brow. These eyes are arranged above and alongside her own, forming two sets of four eyes spread across her face. Rather than the grinning maw of a Hollow, the design of two chelicerae folded neatly in place sits over her mouth, each ending in a black fang.
» Vizard Powers: While wearing her mask, Abigaíl receives a large boost to her physical abilities as her body is bolstered by Arácnida's nature. Her strength, durability and speed are each increased by 50%, and she makes leaps so powerful that their speed rivals Hoho.
X. Resurrección
» Resurrección Release Phrase:
» Resurrección Release Actions:
» Resurrección Appearance:
» Resurrección Abilities:
XI. Equipment/Other Resources
» Gigai: A black market body used by Abigaíl to completely suppress her energy and hide amongst the living populace of Earth.
» Gokon Tekkō: This power bonded with Abigaíl's left hand allows her to forcefully remove a soul from its body when summoned. Most often, it is simply used to remove her own soul from her gigai.

Due to my own misunderstanding of the Hollow Control skill and as per discussion with staff in DMs, I am dropping Hollow Control down from Adept to Beginner and raising Cero (Vizard) up from Beginner to Adept.
