Divine Crusader

I. General Information

» Name: Steiner Franz
» Titles: Unknowing Hero, Divine Crusader, The Last Primal
» Age: 22
» Gender: Male
» Affiliation/Rank: Will be a member of the Vanguard

» Appearance Description:

The process of primal awakening via the Lazarus Pod has fully awoken Steiner's primal portion of his genetic code, revealing similar, but different appearance traits and inherited similarities to his true father, Vulcan. That being said he still appears to be of very similar build and height to his original appearance, however with slight variances such as hair length, or skin tone. However, Steiner is still at the taller end of the male height spectrum, standing at six foot four while weighing in at a respectable two hundred pounds. That two hundred pounds of weight is almost completely lean muscle, very similar to a runner's physique due to years of training, and the latent primal energies coursing through his veins that keep him in tip-top physical condition regardless of if he works out or not. His skin is an unmblemished white tone, once upon a time his body was house to many different scars from multiple conflicts over the years, and from his abusive childhood. But, nowadays those scars have disappeared entirely without a trace, and that is due to the Lazarus Pod's awakening of Steiner's primal healing abilities which have restored him to a pristine state of health, physically and psychologically. Steiner's face is a mixture of youthful features such as a warm smile and a lack of facial hair, and the more mature features, such as blue eyes that appear to be much more wizened than a twenty two year old's eyes should be, or a smile that exude more than just the youthful charm of a boy, but the confidence and calmness of a man.

The lack of facial hair is not due to a lack of ability to grow it, as Steiner can sometimes be spotted sporting a basic amount of stubble if he has been in the fields for too long, no, this is a personal choice. The facial hair looks quite absurd on a young looking face like his so he just chooses to keep it trimmed as to not look like a total idiot in front of new people and friends alike. His blue eyes, once an aqua that dragged people in, is now a dull steel grey that gives off an air of wisdom that far exceeds that of a twenty two year old, though Steiner is still quite young, and the appearance of wisdom isn't the actual existance of wisdom, which is not to say he doesn't know how to handle himself. His hair, once a light shade of mahogany is now a bright red that shines in the morning sun and the evening moon all the same, this hair style which was once thrown about with little thought put into it is now neatly combed into a basic style. Steiner keeps his hair cleaned, trimmed, and cared for by using the best possible hygenic products that money can buy, something that his foster parents pushed into him over the years when he took on the last name of "Franz". Where once there was a boy that looked like he had just woken up, now stands a man who appears to be fully awake, and ready to meet the day with energy and his best foot forward.

As far as the attire choices that the full powered young man has decided on wearing or having on his person, Steiner chooces to keep things simple, and to not overdo it. His basic attire, meaning the things he wears on most days, is mostly a combination of loose fitting t-shirts, jeans, shorts, and a multitude of well worn shoes that Steiner has accumilated over his life time. He doesn't like fancy things, choosing instead to look very basic in his every day life, and to just be a "normal" guy most of the time as to avoid the thoughts of people making him out to be more special than anyone else. He believes himself to be a normal guy even with his hereditary complexity and as such his style seemingly blends into that, no designer brands, and no thousand dollar business suits, just plain, and basic living. As far as the combat attire that Steiner wears, he tends to avoid the heavy metal armors, or the too paper thin cloth armors of the past that he used to wear. Instead he wears a primal energy enhanced leather combat suit, harder than most metals, and flexible enough to allow himself to keep himself mobile in intense fighting situations. Still his combat clothing is much more flashy than his normal every day clothes, with multitudes of leather straps, hardened leather gloves with a bit of enhanced steel to block blades, leather pants with some metal plating in key locations as to avoid being cut too deeply there, and a pair of steel toed combat boots, equipped with Vastimian daggers just in case things get really tough.

Clothes, however are not the only thing on Steiner's person, as he does have quite a few personal valuables that have either sentimental value, or are quite expensive in the real world. These items are usually worn, but a few are kept nearby within his old fashioned duffel bag, or on the backpack he carries books and rations in for ease of travel. These valuables, mostly mundane, are well kept for, and easily shown probably the most care out of all of his belongings. The first of his few valuable is a simple sheathe for a sword, his once link to his past, the blade was shattered into oblivion twice, and now is no longer able to be reforged. Instead the sheathe hangs from his side holding a new weapon in it, a sword that was found in the catacombs beneath the Siberean tundra, and the last thing that he ever was given by his mentor, Mirja. He holds both things sacred, the sword of a fine quality, to him is the only thing he has left to remind him of the person he used to be, and the master that he lost not too long ago. The sheathe is a link to his past before Mirja and to remind him of the hardships that he went through to get to where he was now, he cherishes both, and if he ever finds a blemish or damage on either, he quickly goes out of his way to restore the two to the best of his ability. But his most cherished possesion hangs from his neck.

A beautiful gem stone, an aqua color that had once been the same color as his eyes, hangs from his neck, and was a gift from the powerful Cirno Iramasha. The gem, which is a testament to his triumph of will over the mountain that he had to climb, is hung from a gold chain around his neck, and is visible when simply looking straight at Steiner. He doesn't try to hide the gem, after all in his mind to hide the gem would mean that he was ashamed which is absolutely not the case, and instead he just wears it with pride, not really caring if people hate him or he gains enemies because they can see it. Steiner barely uses the gem unless the situation absolutely dictates its use and even then only in the most dire of situations. The gold chain that the gem is fashioned to is well kept, shined, and mended to absolute splendor in an effort to make sure that the chain matches the splendor of the gem, an impossible task, but one Steiner has put quite a bit of effort into achieving. The result is a gem that shines brightly in the sun, casting a beautiful blue hued light for all to see, and a gold chain that blinds those who dare look at the gem due to the dilligence put into maintaining the gem and its trappings.

Steiner tends to have two bags on his person, most of the time. One of these bags holds personal items, such as clothing, cooking ware, and the materials to put up his tents. This bag, an old looking duffel bag, has a multitude of weird looking patches across its surface from where Steiner has sewn it back together after it has been cut open by a knife, or random pieces of foliage or rocks. This bag is important because Steiner doesn't tend to live the normal way that normal people due, much to the opposite of his belief of being just an average guy living in this world. He lives out in the wilderness, using his trusty duffel bag to set up camp for days at a time, in the best locations to train or to merely be close to a point where he can refresh his resources to continue to sustain himself on his journey. The second bag is much more durable, having been crafted from hardened leathers, this bag contains reading material, non-perishable foods, and pieces of equipment necessary for training or honing his skills. At any given time he could have forging equipment, knitting needles, surveying tools, or herbalism gathering kits in this bag. It tends to vary due to the nature of his travels and the skills he wants to focus on improving. Most of the time, however books on folk lore, swordsmanship manuals, and maps of the local area can be found within this bag. As far as resources, a pouch with beef jerkey, and other non-perishable foods is usually full to the brim. Usually in that same pouch Steiner has stored several tins of water as to avoid dehydrating, and keeps these filled by visiting rivers on his long hikes through the wilderness.

Lastly, Steiner has a plethora of weapons on his person, varying from small throwing knives to a set of large throwing axes, and each weapon has it's own intricate value. As Steiner is not just a swordsman, but a warrior, he carries these weapons on his person to hone his skills with each one, and the ones he carries on him into a battle are usually the ones he has the most experience in. Throwing knives that have been hand made, a pair of throwing axes that are hand-me downs from a local foresting crew he met during his travels, a set of rare Vastimian daggers that he spent a small fortune on, and the sword he got from the catacombs are usually the weapons he has on him when he goes into battle. Each weapon placed specifically on his body for ease of access in difficult situations. He does also have his special weapon that can be summoned from the Vault of Vulcan, Ashbringer, but he keeps that in the vault, and only uses it when the battle is truly a viscous one. The axes hang on holsters on his back, the daggers are attached to his boots, and the throwing knives tend to be hidden on his person in random locations as to surprise his opponents when he uses them. The sword hangs from his side in his old sheathe and is Steiner's primary weapon.

II. Personality

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] LZUHGzI

To describe Stein's personality is to look beyond the hardships of his youth and dig into who he has become. Some would say due to the traumatic events in his life that Franz would exhibit some introversion, but it is the opposite. Steiner is an open, caring, and compassionate individual who sets himself above no one, and is willing to take the pain and hardships that comes his way to ensure that other's don't have to go through what he has gone through. He is the first to step in when a problem arrives and the last to leave when a problem is solved. As troublesome as that may sound, Stein doesn't seem to mind being the guy to step in when the going gets rough as he knows what could happen to other's if issues are not dealt with as quickly as possible. This tends to lead to quick judges in character however, as Stein quickly assess situations, and doesn't tend to read into the context of things. He mostly only sees right and wrong, however he can be persuaded to believe that there is a gray.

As such heroism seems to come naturally for the twenty one year old, though he is unsure how he could be described as "heroic" as he believes that doing the right thing and helping others is what should be natural human nature. According to him protecting people and helping people with their issues should come to a person just as easy as they would breathe. This leads to philosophical differences and a great deal of headbutting with those of different beliefs, but Stein stands true to what he believes which further adds to the "hero" title that is thrown at him. To him, however a hero is something that he isn't. To him a hero is someone with the power to make a difference and he, being someone without power in a world filled with individuals with the power to change the world, can never be someone like that. That of course doesn't stop him from dreaming of one day becoming someone like that.

Some would call Steiner calm and collected as well, as he tend to not freak out when a normal person would. Once again, the tragedies of his childhood lend into this state of being. He has gone through so much torture in his life that most things seem to just not phase the twenty one year old as much as they would a normal person. Yet, he is still haunted by nightmares of his life spent with his first foster parents, and those wounds still run very deep. Which is why he tries his best to remain calm and be as collected as he can, putting on an air of being much more mature than he actually is to try, and hide his own insecurities. However, behind that very same air is an twenty one year old with a great deal of insecurities.

Those insecurities, however have helped Steiner grow a great deal as a fighter, and as a person. Never believing that he is strong enough or fast enough to deal with threats that cross his path. This has allowed to Steiner to push himself very far in terms of physical training and mental conditioning. It has also helped him mold himself into the person he is today. His kindness springs from his insecurities, as his feelings of helplessness gained from years of torture at the hands of his first foster parents, has helped him learn that no one wants to be alone in this world. So, he strives to be as open, and kind as he possibly can as to have no one feel like he has and at some times still does. It is through hardship that Stein has grown into a fine young man with a strong sense of what is right and what is wrong.

Honor:

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] 097674d80be02d9b7092e7a1257f0781--tattoo-designs-tattoo-ideas

Steiner is a man with a strict code of morality that hasn't even faded away even after all of the things that have occurred to him as of late. He believes that to compromise the basic beliefs of honor is to simply give up and allow evil to win. To Steiner that is something that just can't happen so regardless of how his code of honor can be used against him, he maintains his stance on the line of right and wrong without budging. For this reason, Steiner sometimes gets burned more than most because he is unwilling to budge from his stance of morality even in the face of unyielding treachery, Steiner stands firm in the face of it. Be it by his upbringing or by what he has lost, he clings to this as his lifeline. Many people admire him for that, but even more do seem to judge him harshly for being unwilling to budge from his morale code for even a second to do what needs to be done sometimes.

Steiner respects those with similar qualities to his own and becomes quick friends with those that have a code of honor themselves. He will go to bat for those people and fight to protect those people to his last breath, this makes those who become true friends with Steiner know that they will always have someone watching their back in their time of need, and also alleviate the stress of them ever being betrayed by him either. After all, Steiner's code of honor prides loyalty as well.

Friendship:

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] Crossed_swords_isolated_on_white_duel_symbol_cg2p03692744c_th

Steiner treasures friendship above most things outside of his sense of honor and a passion to bring down cold hard justice down on those with evil intent. He tends to bond quickly with those with senses of honor and justice similar to his own, but he has also been known to become quick friends with people who are willing to give him a chance as well. After all it is hard to make true friends when you staunchly believe in one thing and are unwilling to bend your knee even if your friends beg you to, but those that are true friends of Steiner will never find a truer friend. Steiner will risk anything for a friend, most notably his life, and his state of mind to insure that his friends are safe and are well taken care of.

This will sometimes get Steiner into trouble, especially when he is poking his nose into things he shouldn't be when his friends are in danger, but Steiner doesn't care. He will never back down from a fight to help his friends and will never betray his friends in their time of need. All in all, Steiner takes friendship seriously, and believes strongly in the bonds formed by accepting someone as ones friend.

Displays of Swordsmanship:

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] 300px-RO2_Swordsman

Be it the simple practice of swordsmanship or the aura of honed skill that a master displays, Steiner Franz enjoys work with swords, and seeing the talent of others who practice the craft. Having trained with his great grandfather, then by himself, then with Valus, and after that on his own again, Steiner has spent most of his life honing his skills in the art of swordsmanship. So when he sees a particularly well trained swordsman he always gives his props, even if it is an enemy, and then tries his best to learn from them as much as he can. Steiner regularly challenges other swordsman to fights to test his mettle and his skill in the craft, always gracious in defeat and in victory, and even more so always ready to learn and always ready to teach. Such is the path that he has chosen based by his strict code of honor and integrity. In that same vein he also despises those that take shortcuts to become better swordsman.

This includes cheaters and using cheap tactics to take advantage of opponents. He has seen these sort of people first hand and has trained non-stop to insure that if he encounters people like this that he should be capable of fighting them on his own merit and defeating them in his own way. As stated before Steiner enjoys both learning new skills and training those who seek to learn to hone their craft in swordsmanship, even though he himself still has a lot to learn.

Justice:

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] Symbol%20(113)

Meeting villains on the fields of combat is something Steiner takes extremely seriously and even more seriously does he take the divvying out of punishment upon those with nothing, but wicked intent. Steiner lives, eats, and breathes justice and pursues to make those that do bad things get their just deserts. Due to Steiner's upbringing in a dysfunctional family ruled over by a wicked father, Steiner has seen what evil looks like, and because of that Steiner's sense of right and wrong is amplified to the extremes. Every slight and every right is memorized by Steiner from the moment he meets a person and he judges people kind of harshly by their merits, but even he can be forgiving.

However, to Steiner justice is absolute, and those that are evil must be taught a lesson by him or by those that walk a similar path. This can be quite dangerous for Steiner most of the time due to the sort of people he can run into with a world full of demons and monsters just looking to squash someone with values such as his, but Steiner doesn't back down from a fight. He always will pursue the pursuit of justice and will never stop even in the face of absolute power or a threat beyond his comprehension. Such is the path that he has chosen and strides to walk.

Testing Ones Limits:

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] Dc8df7d80973a60acbf928f75b1c125e

Steiner believes that the only way to get stronger is to push yourself to unbelievable heights by testing your own limits and throughout his life he has done so. He has fought beings with immense power and lived to tell the tale, climbed mountains that were unscaleable without proper equipment, and traveled far distances without so much as breaking to reach his goal. With a hunger to learn and a passion to improve, Steiner Franz is always testing himself, and always pushing himself regardless of how much his body tells himself to quit. At times this can be viewed as reckless, but to those that see Steiner as he struggles to overcome his own weakness by brute forcing it through, they can not help, but respect him for what he does. He isn't the strongest, nor is he the fastest, but Steiner does what he can with what he has, and what he does with what he has is quite extraordinary.

As such he preaches this philosophy to friends and colleagues alike, always pushing them even when they don't want to be pushed. Some resent him, but others quite understand Steiner's desire to improve not only himself, but the situation of others. In fact it is quite the admirable mission for a person like him to have and one that many people have come to adore about the hero.

Compassion:

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] Fbccedf6958eb91c22ea471e1a55de32--knight-lord

Be it protecting the weak, feeding a homeless person, or saving someone from a horrible fate, compassion is a very strong point of value within the person that is Steiner Franz. He strives to make sure that others don't have to feel the pain he felt or deal with the things he has dealt with. He goes to blows with those that seek to hurt the weak or those that take advantage of situations that should not be taken advantage of. It makes him a great friend and a great person all around and no one seems to be bothered by the amount of compassion that Steiner Franz shows. And this is because he generally cares, after all the shit he has been through, all the abuse, and all of the hardships he has gone through his compassion is genuine.

He also respects those that have a very similar approach to compassion and makes sure to show them gratitude for what they are doing. This usually leads to him making friends or allies in low and high places due to his giving nature and that is fine with him. He himself believes he would rather have more friends and allies than enemies on the Earth, it is as simple as that.

» Dislikes:

Quitters:

Steiner has never been a quitter nor has he ever given up on a task that he has undertaken, so when he sees a quitter, or someone who is so ready to give up on a task, he tends to get quite angry or flustered. This emotion and animosity toward quitting stems from the harsh environment he lived in before he lived with his foster family. Quitting and not trying were viewed as punishable offenses and after his father consumed just enough alcohol the punishment usually meant abuse. It never goes to that extreme with Steiner, yet he views quitting, and giving up in a negative light at least and will usually berate someone at worse. Though because of this level of abuse he had received during his earlier years, it did push him to improve drastically, and strive to continue to get better after he felt he was good enough.

Villains:

It is usually self-explanatory for a man who is of righteous pursuits to hate those of dishonest reputation, but Steiner's hatred of those with sinister intent is almost ingrained into his being. Even before he was a member of the Vanguard, before he had known the name of Valus, or even began to train with a blade, Steiner was being abused by a villain, his father. Over time he began to resent his father for his actions, hating him for what was doing to him, and as he grew up that hatred only grew more and more. His hatred for evil grew from being just to his father, to everyone with sinister ideas, and as someone who wanted to become a hero, Steiner's hatred for evil become a fuel to his fire. Much like not liking to quit, this became a driving force for him, sometimes helping him elevate past his limitations to perform impossible deeds, and to this day it helps push him forward in life.

Failure:

Much like quitting, Steiner views failure in an equal light, however he doesn't feel like blaming someone for failing as much as for quitting. In the case of failing at least they had tried to do their best to succeed, no he doesn't hate others for failing, just himself if he were to fail. His biological father had always viewed Steiner as a failure and the disdain of being called as such has stuck with him through out the years, hence his dedication to insuring that he never fails again by honing his skills and pushing himself to his limits. Once again, the drive to not fail is a drastic part of the reason Steiner tries so hard to do what he does, and he absolutely hates to fail. So much in fact that he will usually beat himself up over his failures for the next few weeks and dig as deep as he can to find out how he can be ready for the same situation next time.

Showing Weakness:

Steiner hates to appear weak and that is because he views the weak and vulnerable times of his youth as a negative. After all, he hadn't been strong enough to stop his own abuse, and if he shows that he is still as weak as he was before he would only be proving his biological father right. Something that he would never want to do. So, with this being just another driving force for his over-training and difficult path to become stronger, Steiner refuses to look weak. Even in the face of utterly impossible odds, Steiner will most likely stand defiant in its' face, refusing to cry, and refusing to back down from the challenges in front of him.

» Background:

Chapter 1: Abuse and Resilience

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] 60cbb8_1de80dfb53cac4fb85c2c4e5d621ddfa

Born as Steiner Halford, Steiner was brought into this world to a family that was never really supportive nor friendly to him. He was the second child of Corman Halford and Zaila Halford, both of which had not wanted a second child, but welcomed Steiner into their family begrudgingly. From the moment Steiner could walk he was treated poorly by his parents, who favored their first child, Yve who was three years Steiner's senior, to him. Yve was always the grading stick for Steiner growing up and whenever he disappointed his drunken father or his emotionally distant mother he would be reminded of how awesome his brother was. It wasn't until his eighth birthday that things went from mental abuse to physical abuse as his father, a failed musician and the town drunk, laid into him repeatedly with blows after Steiner had messed up a simple piano recital. All the while, Steiner pleaded for his father to stop, and looked for his mother and brother for assistance, but neither did anything. This was just the start of the beatings and for three years Steiner endured this. Three years of torture at the hand of his father as he pleaded for his mother and brother to help him only to see them turn a cold shoulder to him.

It was after one particularly nasty scuffle involving a jagged beer bottle, that child services was brought into play, and Steiner, then eleven, and Yve, fourteen, were taken away from their parents. Yve, after being taken away from his parent who had adored him blamed Steiner for everything, and left his brother high and dry as he distanced himself from someone who he labeled as a loser. Steiner, feeling isolated, and completely alone spent the majority of his time moping alone in the social house. Wondering as to what he could have done differently to have his parents love him like they did his brother. For a year, Steiner was bounced from family to family, none of them sticking with him for more than a few months as none of them wanted a child who was depressed as he was and as emotionally scarred. However, after reaching the age of twelve, Steiner finally joined the Franz family. The Franz family, who had always wanted a son, welcomed Steiner into their family, and embraced him as if he were their own. It opened Steiner's eyes to the real problem and warmed his heart.

Steiner became an extremely driven child as a member of the Franz family, dropping any vestige of his past life from the time he dropped his biological families last name and instead flinging himself head first into the fire of being a "Franz". With this new found drive, Steiner studied, and trained hard. Ditching music in favor of mythology, a much more interesting subject as he always dreamed of heroes of old in his youth, and training his body as to emulate such heroes. He became the apple of his foster parent's eye and over the course of six years brightened their lives and earned their love with each passing moment he spent with them. On his eighteenth birthday, Steiner Franz decided to move out, not by force, but because of his want to continue his studies. He wanted to go to college and travel a bit, things he couldn't do underneath the Franz roof. His parents, even though they wanted him to stay, understood, and helped Franz move to Tokyo where he could continue his Ancient History and Mythology studies. It was there that his past caught up to him.

Chapter 2: Betrayal and The Sword in the Stone

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] 310?cb=20171206201842

Yve Halford, his older brother met him at the train station in Tokyo, and though Steiner had his differences with his family he greeted him warmly. Yve, began talking about a dig he was on for some unknown benefactor, as he had became an archaeologist, and was mildly successful. After learning of what his brother had become, Steiner talked of what he had hoped to do, and such drew some praise from his distant blood relative. Yve offered Steiner a job to come to the dig and be one of his interns. And though Steiner wanted to say no, the promise of money, and a trip away to a place he had never been enticed the young man to come with his brother. They went to Europe, where Steiner caught eye of what exactly his brother had dug up, a stone with a rusted and worn sword plunged into it surrounded by ancient and decrepit ruins. Remembering the tales of the knights of the round table and King Arthur, Steiner was greatly intrigued by his brother's find, and began to do everything in his power to find out just what this sword's identity was.

Over time, Steiner began to realize that the sword in the stone was Excalibur, but how it had gotten there was beyond him. Steiner, excited by the prospect of one of the myths being at least half true, went to his brother, only to find him making deals with the wrong sort. Yve, his older brother was selling ancient relics to some shady man who worked fro some unknown criminal syndicate in Europe, and they had been using Steiner to dig up research on if the sword was the real deal. Steiner, dumb founded by his brother's betrayal, decided to take matters into his own hands, and confronted his brother in the middle of a meeting. Yve, laughed it off, and called Steiner naive for believing he was an archaeologist and not some rare artifact broker, and order his associate to end him right then and there. Steiner ran for his life, escaping from the site, and making his way to the stone.

However, upon making it to the stone, he was quickly surrounded by goons, and with no means to defend himself. No means, except the rusted sword. In dire need of help and with no where else to turn, Steiner pulled the blade from the stone, much like Arthur had many centuries ago, and the world went black for him. Steiner awoke in Karakura town in a hospital bed, the rusted sword laying against a seat in a scabbard, with no recollection of what had happened, or how he had ended up where he was. Steiner, once released from the hospital, tried to rid himself of the sword by giving it to a museum, yet the sword came back to him by mysterious circumstances. Eventually after the twelfth attempt of giving up the sword he gave in and decided to keep it for himself. As there was no other solution. For now, Steiner is trying to discover how he returned to Karakura, and the mysteries behind the rusty blade dubbed "Excalibur".

Chapter 3 : New Acquaintances and New Goals

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] 250?cb=20141014052741

Little did Steiner know that he had not only acquired a sword, but also a passenger who latched on to his body, and became a part of him. That passenger was Valus, the spirit that had been sealed within Excalibur, and as such when he had made contact with the blade had saved his life. Steiner over the course of his first month in Karakura would meet some interesting individuals, not only fighting people such as Youma, but also making friends with people such as Ants, and when he successfully climbed the mountain meeting Cirno for the first time. As such he learned a great deal and began to grow as a fighter and as a person. However, it became frustrating for Steiner that he remained powerless until his fight with the arrancar, Murai, and her skeletons.

It was during that battle that the voice of Valus began to speak and helped guide him to awakening his powers for the first time. Valus and Steiner worked together extremely hard to push the young human's skills to the next level and to an extent they succeeded in doing so, but in truth it was never enough for the young boy to truly get any traction. So with that thought in mind he joined the Vanguard for a while, choosing to associate himself with the strongest champions of the Earth, and bring down the villains that opposed it. It was in the Vanguard that Steiner felt the most at home, he had never really called anything home since he had left his second foster family behind him, but the Vanguard had truly done that for him. Eventually Steiner was assigned to the Boros Guard and told to defend Karakura from the threats of the darker side of the world, something he didn't accept lightly, but none the less was more than willing to do.

He went through tough training exercises, fighting against some of the world's greatest fighters just to earn his place within their ranks, and to earn the respect of his superiors. And he did to an extent, as being a newer member of the organization, he was rising the ranks quickly due to his dedication, and tireless resolve to make Karakura the safest city on Earth. Not an easy feat when the outside world looks at you as a glistening gem among the trash heap that the outside world had become, but Steiner took his job extremely seriously, and worked tirelessly to improve himself as not only a soldier, but a hero. Still, he was never the fastest, the brightest, or the strongest, but many people deemed him the most heroic as his idealism seemed to rub off on people around him, inspiring some, and angering others who viewed the Vanguard as more of a standing army than a collection of heroes. He pursued being absolutely as heroic as he possibly could be, putting the work in to get stronger regardless of the superior's belief of who he was as a person, and making everyone' life around the city easier.

Chapter 4 : The Mission and The Life Changing Day

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3]

This position in the Vanguard that he received, mostly involved patrolling around the city, watching for potential threats, and notifying his superiors if he spotted anything that could be classified as an invasion. It was on one such patrol that Steiner Franz would open a dark and gloomy chapter in his life, a chapter that would begin with a group of arrancar going to close to the city limits to be considered "tourists". Steiner began to call in to his superiors, as protocol dictated, when a small group of school children passed his line of view, and it was very clear that they didn't know just what sort of storm they were walking their way into. Fearing for their safety, Steiner neglected protocol, and engaged the arrancar before they could intercept the young children. To give credit where credit is due, Steiner managed to hold his ground for a while, before the boss of these particular arrancar made his presence known.

Steiner received a beating that even to this day he hasn't forgotten, but the beating wasn't what would put Steiner on his path to truly awakening his potential, no...the torture would do that. After Steiner had lost to the leader, the leader decided to turn Steiner into a target practice dummy for him, and his gang of miscreants. For weeks, Steiner was dragged around, barely holding on to life only due to them healing him, and keeping him fed for amusement to see who could make Steiner break the most or cry out the most or beg the most. Eventually after several grueling weeks of torture the arrancars had their fill, deeming Steiner unworthy of even being eaten, Steiner was impaled through the heart with his own sword, shattering his anima stone in the process. Valus would take control at that moment trying to lash out at the foes in front of him, but that is when one of the arrancar used an ability that neither Valus nor Steiner had ever seen before. The arrancar ripped Valus from Steiner's body and then consumed him right before the dying man's eyes. After that, the leader broke Steiner's sword, and left it in pieces with a sick grin on his face. Without even a second thought the arrancar abandoned Steiner, leaving him to die in a ditch like an animal hit by a car, and as his life had flashed before his eyes, Steiner knew that he had couldn't give up there, and now.

So Steiner, powerless as the day he was born crawled, bleeding profusely from his open wound in his chest, and from the many different lacerations upon his body that had been given to him by weeks of torture. For a good ten minutes Steiner crawled until his body began to give out from blood loss and exhaustion, he began to close his eyes. For a while he dreamed of nothing, but the darkness of death, and for a while he thought that this was the end for him, but life had a funny way of giving him a second chance when a elderly woman found him. Dragging him from the streets and bringing him into her home far off the beaten path and far from the eyes of those that would be working for the arrancar or looking for Steiner. It was here that the young lady began the process of healing his wounds, using many different salves, and many different techniques that she had picked up over time during his stay in the fringes. When Steiner awoke the only thing he felt was pain and an emptiness he hadn't felt since before his powers had awoken. In essence he felt alone and as he lay there staring at the thatched ceiling of the hut belonging to the elderly lady, he wondered just where he was or how he had got there.

Chapter 5: The Old Lady and Paying off Debts

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] Superthumb

Upon the elderly ladies return she would find Steiner up and about, which confounded her that the young man could move at all after such an ordeal. She demanded that he lay back down, but Steiner wouldn't, stating that he had been "laying down" for far too long as it was, and that he needed to find the arrancar that did this to him. The elderly lady stated that Steiner wasn't going to fight any arrancar in the condition he was in and also stated that it would take a man with a great deal of power to take them all down. Steiner enraged at himself for being so weak, over-exerted himself trying to leave, and reopened the stitches on his chest, forcing him to heed the elderly ladies advice and yield for a while. For a month or two, Steiner was on bed rest, and his days would be filled with pain until he would receive some salve or home cooked remedy from the elderly lady to continue his healing process and elevate the pain for a while. After two months of being bed-ridden Steiner found he could move around the house gingerly. He would pay the old woman back by doing chores around the house, which she would protest to, but couldn't say no to due to Steiner's insisting to do so. In truth he hated waiting around in bed, more-so he just wanted to train, and that wasn't possible to do with his current physical state so he used house chores as a type of training. He would chop wood, clean the house, fixing mundane items for her so that she could continue to live in peace, and occasionally cooking dinner for her (though he was never really good at it).

It was during this time that Steiner began to pick up a plethora of different skills as she remained a tennant within her home. These skills varied from knitting to knowing which herbs had special properties to be used in salves, which she sold to a market that was off the beaten path, and a great ways away from her own home. Whenever Steiner would offer to help her take her salves and goods to market, she would turn him down, stating he needed to get rest, and stay at home to continue his recovery. For a while, that was fine with him, as though he really wanted to help her do that, the pain was still quite severe, and he barely had the energy to do the miniscule tasks that he was doing to help her out in the first place. However, over time Steiner began to grow impatient, not wanting to stay at the home, or to continue to have an elderly lady carry her goods all the way to market, undefended, and definitely not physically strong enough to support herself if things turned south. One day, Steiner wouldn't take no for an answer, and demanded to go to market with her, stating it was unsafe nowadays. She would relent after a heated debate and would allow Steiner to accompany her only to insure that he would no longer worry about her trek through the woods or to the market.

So, armed with a makeshift club, and carrying a load of healing salves, Steiner and the old lady made their way down the winding paths toward the distant town where she sold her goods. Half-way there, Steiner began to feel winded, after all this was the first strenuous exercise the man had in over a good few months, and he was feeling every bit of exhausted. The old lady, unlike himself, seemed perfectly adapted to the task, but was more than willing to wait a few minutes to catch his breath, and regain his stamina. Thankfully the trek went without incident and the two of them managed to make it all the way to the town with little to no incidents, save for a few opportune moments when Steiner needed to rest a few seconds to collect himself. The town, though not huge or by any means heavily populated, the town was bustling with trade, and random goods being handed about with multiple type of currency, outdated or not, being used to pay for the goods. The old lady set up her shop near the entrance of the town, a place that seemed specifically designated for her, and even guarded to an extent by other local traders who seemed to await her arrival. Steiner acted as a salesman that day, helping her deal with people, and at times acting as a haggler to make sure that she would get the best prices for her goods which she spent a great deal of time making.

And this would become routine for Steiner, he would make trips with the old lady, and travel to different towns around the area to sell her goods, acting as a body guard, and a sales representative. Eventually his body would get used to the walks over the course of many weeks of performing this task, and in fact it became excellent exercise for the young man. The elderly lady found herself being lapped by the recovering Steiner, but didn't mind it too extremely as she found the company of the young man more than a welcome feeling than the lonely long walks she used to take. During the time spent from town to town, Steiner and the elderly lady would swap stories about their lives, and though Steiner didn't have much to share about his own the lady listened intently to his stories. The story of his elder, however were much more engaging, and since she had lived a rather full life before becoming a hermit she had plenty to share. Stories of wars, conflicts, but also of love and friendship. All the stories equally intrigued the young hero and all the while inspired him to go back out into the field and do some good for the people.

For about a month and a half more this would go on as a normal routine until finally the pain stopped and Steiner felt like he could continue his training. He would bid his farewells to the elderly lady and make his way out back into the world, but first he would have to make a stop at the Vanguard HQ within Karkura. If nothing more than to tell them he was still alive and maybe work out a way to return to active duty. He traveled by foot, marching with single minded purpose toward the place that he hoped would reaccept him with open arms despite his disregard for proper protocol. Upon his return to the Vanguard base, he learned of their change in leadership, and their change in protocols, but he was fine with it, after all nothing could remain the same forever. He put himself back in for Boros Guard duty, but would first have to receive a physical of sorts to prove that he was still in tip-top shape and that he was in perfect health. He did this physical, mostly containing basic drills that any basic level member of the Vanguard underwent during the recruitment process, but during the course of the physical Steiner felt a bit off.

He chalked this feeling up to having not physically trained for months and for having been bed ridden for so long, but the physicians still deemed his lack of physical capabilites as cause enough for a medical examination. Steiner, not wanting to anger the officials or the doctors in charge of the exam, agreed to the need for an examination, after all he wanted to make sure that he was one hundred percent. For several days, the process of medical examination occured, Steiner was forced to stay isolated from the rest of the active members of the Vanguard, quarantined to a single room far away from the rest. During this time, he spent hours reading books, and news reports from the time that he had been missing, hearing about Azure's death from a second hand method did make him feel uncomfortable, but none the less he was still accepting that he was at least in the know. The rest of his time was devoted to multiple blood tests, physical tests, and of course psychological examinations. These long gruling examinations exhausted him, but he agreed that they were necessary to find if anything was wrong with him.

For a few weeks, not much was revealed as to what was plaguing the young man, until after the second week of examination a doctor would come and visit his room. It was then that Steiner would receive the worst news he had ever received. He was told that his body was degrading from the inside out and this soul had been damaged from the assault that he had received at the hands of those arrancar he had tried to stop months prior. The doctor stated they were trying to work up some kind of cure or at least a medication to deal with the effects of this particularly unknown disease rampaging through his body, but they weren't confident. After all, they had never seen anything like this before in this extreme a level. It was like his body was rejecting his soul, but his soul was trying to do what it was meant to do for his body, and in the process of doing that his body was getting physically weaker. Stating that this was only the beginning of things and telling him that it would only get worse, Steiner found himself at a loss for words.

In truth, he had not expected such a severe diagnosis, but he was glad to at least know what was going on with him, even if it wasn't something that he truly wanted to hear. He asked numbly about what would happen to him and the doctor began to list off a great deal of future symptoms that would more than likely pop up, but the biggest reveal caused Steiner to feel completely helpless. Death was inevitable, the doctor said calmly, and that unless if a cure was concoted, Steiner's body would literally rot until there was nothing left of it, and he would die. The worst part was what would happen to his soul. As stated before the doctor noted the severity of the possible future for Steiner, stating that his soul was damage in a unique way, and that if he did die, he believed he would just fade away entirely. Steiner would not survive in any condition, he would just cease to be. The news struck Steiner hard and for a few days after, he remained isolated until they could discover if the disease was contagious, and if they needed to isolate further members of their group. All the while, Steiner barely ate, or read, or did anything for that matter.

He just stared at the walls of what had become a prison to him, almost like he wasn't at all there, and that the very life force that was left inside of him had been drained out of him by the revelation of his condition. Eventually the physicians would return to him, handing him a bit of medication, and telling him that his days in the field were done. They offered him a desk job, stating he could work for them, and stay close to home so that if they did find a cure that he would be cure immediatly, but Steiner had time to think. He had spent weeks thinking about what would happen if things went South and now he knew he didn't want the desk job or to be around these people anymore. He declined the job, believing that even though he was diseased that he needed to continue to fight the good fight, and protect others. To not do so would be to give the disease power over his life and to admit to defeat to himself and others. The physicians disagreed, stating that though he was still physically capable now it didn't mean he would be physically capable later. His body would eventually begin to degrade and when that started things would get harder for him.

He would eventually reach a point to where the pain would become too great for him and that he would eventually be unable to move without assistance. Furthermore, extreme physical exercise and physical exhertion would only accelerate the process of degradation, and the only way to "stall" out the disease was to play it safe and just live a normal, dull life. Steiner, knowing all too well the risks, still declined. He would not be put behind a desk why stronger warriors were risking their lives fighting the good fight every day and he would not be hidden away because some disease was running rampant in his body. He was a hero first and a person second. This was how it had always been and how he would always act regardless of how life treated him and so he left. Leaving behind one of the few good things in his life to pursue his own agendas and devices, much to the disagreement of those that were trying to save him from himself and the disease that was killing him. Steiner, however would hear none of it as his mind was made up a while ago, and he would not turn his back on one innocent life if the need arose. Even if that costed him his life.

Steiner upon moving on with his own life, regardless of the high chances that any day would be his last, took it upon himself to return to a normal life much like the one he had left behind when his powers had manifested. He began to look for a job and chose to once again live out in the woods, which he viewed as a proper place to train, and was a good enough place to isolate himself from the outside world if things began to go bad for him. Still, it was hard in those days to find a job that wanted a powerless man like himself, let alone a job that would allow him to travel, and continue to pursue his heroic aspirations. He managed to land a job with a delivery service which sent out letters, packages, and heavy machinery across the world and was quite thankful for the opportunity to work the job. Though the pay was no where near the level that he had gained as a member of the Vanguard, he found the job to be fulfilling on a more personal level, and as he traveled from town to town he dealt with threats to the common man as best as he could. Still, this was hard due to his lack of powers.

Though he was able to deal with moderate threats with his skill and his own training helping him along the way, he still found himself struggling to deal with the bigger threats that wandered the wastelands preying on the weak. For as good as he got, the threats continued to escalate, and though he could save quite a few people, it was those that he lost that made him feel great pain and doubt in his heart. Yet, he powered through all the while hiding the fact that he was performing great deeds of heroism from his boss who wanted him to not be distracted by personal goals and to focus on doing his job. He rose through the ranks rapidly, keeping his secrets, and doing what he needed to do to keep on pursuing his true vision of heroism. It was a month or so after taking the job that things began to go south for the young man as on a routine delivery he went into a wild coughing fit that didn't seem to end. Staggering into a nearby alleyway, Steiner found himself coughing for several agonizing minutes, his abdomen sore from all the coughing, and his pain seemed to expand all over his body. After recovering from the fit, Steiner found that he had coughed up blood, and it had splattered all across a nearby wall.

He tensed up, realizing that though he was saving lives he was costing himself his own, but he wasn't going to allow the sickness to beat him, and decided to ignore it and go back to delivering packages. For the rest of the week there wasn't another instance of the coughing up blood or the extreme coughing fit that he had went through, but the pain he had felt expand through out him after the fit remained. At first he thought it was due to overworking, but he knew better, and tried his best to put the fact that the disease was getting worse behind him. He upped his own medication, swallowing more over the counter pain medicine than most drug addicts normally did to try, and make it through a work day. It was hard, but he managed somehow to make ends meet even with the low amount of pay he was receiving, and the constant feeling of being drugged up making him delirious, he managed. So he kept on chugging along, continuing to work, and ignoring the tell tale signs of progession of his ailment to the best of his ability.

Eventually however, he grew to sick for the normal over the counter medication to stop him from feeling the pain, and knew for a fact that he would have to get some form of hospital leave to make sure that he could get by the day to day. He took time off, visiting a doctor who was associated with the Vanguard, and asked him if he had anyway for him to dull out the pain a bit so that he could just get through his work day. This lead to more examinations and the revelation that the disease was getting worse, much to the doctor's frustration as he told the man that continuing to do heroic deeds or over exerting himself would only cause the disease to ramp up. He stated that at the rate that Steiner was going he would be dead in a few years, but before that he would easily become bedridden. This was not the news Steiner had came to hear and he demanded a way to keep on doing what he was doing while taking the pained edge off. The doctor relented eventually, handing him a bottle of experimental pain medication that could take the edge off, but warned him of continuing down the path he was walking. Because if he didn't stop he would surely die.

The problem was that Steiner didn't care if he lived or died at this point, no the mission was much more important to him than making it out alive. He knew that sitting around and doing nothing would only make him feel more pained than fighting the battles to save people. He was long past the point of caring about his nothing life and enjoying the twilight of said life, he had moved on, and was ready to accept the end just as long as he could save just one more person and put down one more evil before he kicked the bucket. So he went back to work. Delivering packages, traveling the world, and fighting the good fight were all things that seemed to blend into one another over time as he continued on his path. As he did these things so to did the disease progress, but Steiner was able to combat the pain with the medication now, and made sure to take plenty of it if he felt himself slipping off into pain filled deliriums. He still knew it was only a matter of time till he died, but he was least doing what he could to make the people around him feel a little more at peace and a little bit safer. That was more than enough for him.

Chapter 8 : Knocking on Heaven's Door

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] Latest?cb=20140527024036&path-prefix=protagonist

For the longest time Steiner struggled with the pain and his sense of duty, always a consistent struggle that always ended with his sense of duty over whelming the feeling or the need for him to rest or deal with his pain. This became clearer upon the day that Steiner made his way out into the desert to deliver some parts to a special group who were trying to build a city out in the wastes. This delivery was interupted by the arrival of a young boy named Saisei who was being attacked by a hollow rhino of some kind. A normal man would have left the boy to his fate, but Steiner wasn't a normal man, and crashed his delivery van into the charging rhino, knocking it off its feet for a bit so that he could aid the boy in fighting the colossal beast that was chasing him. Armed with a crowbar and a baseball bat, Steiner and the boy would outwit the Hollow, and then kill it, the two of them walking away unscathed, but Steiner would go into another coughing fit. Covering his mouth as to not alert the boy to his pain or his suffering. The boy, however would learn of Steiner's ailment, and Steiner would not sugar coat it for him stating he was a dead man walking and that he had limited time left on the Earth. That, however didn't stop him from walking the boy all the way to the construction site, leaving the rotting corpse of the giant rhinoceros behind.

Upon arriving at the construction site they were assaulted by a gigantic Hollow, a gorilla of sorts that had torn the site to shreds, and was looking to kill them much like it had killed the inhabitants of the construction site. Steiner and Saisei managed to overpower the beast, Steiner taking a massive beating as he was not gifted with the same powers as Saisei, and he barely made it out alive. Saisei managed to get into contact with some local Vanguard troops that were stationed nearby and they air lifted Steiner and Saisei to a hospital back in Karakura where Steiner could recuperate from his wounds. The familiar doctor who had given him the experimental medicine would bad mouth Steiner, telling him that blood work was showing that Steiner's lifespan had been cut down to years to months, and that at this rate he would burn out. Steiner would shout back that he didn't care and that what was important to him wasn't his own life, but the lives of the people he was saving. He believed deep down that if he saw someone in pain or suffering that he needed to do what he needed to do to help them and if that costed him his life? He didn't care. The doctor decided that he needed to be put on suicide watch as a rather loud alarm sounded throughout the hospital, the alarm that was dedicated to warning of a Hollow attack.

Before the doctor could stop Steiner, he had already jumped out of a window, and was scaling the side of the building to get a better view of the beast in the distance. The Hollow, a horrifying mix of tentacles and a large gapin maw, stood over the trade district of that particular part of Karakura and Steiner knew that at that time of day there were probably thousands of people who were in jeopardy. Without hesitation, Steiner rushed off to go assault the creature, his body beginning to show signs of weird black veins sprouting across his face and arms. Upon arrival he noticed the Quincy Ritusko and a shinigami doing battle with the beast, but not really caring for the safety of the civilians below, Steiner decided to direct his attention there as the battle of the behemoths was too much for any powerless human to handle. He made his way, passing store to store, telling people to evacuate, and helping them escape to a far enough distance to get out of the death trap that the trade district had become. As they reached the edge of the district, Steiner hesitated, in truth he could keep running, but something deep down inside of him told him that even if he did run, he was a dead man anyway. So what was the point of dying a coward? Turning back around Steiner rushed back into the battle, stealing a sword from a blacksmithing store, and rushing the massive behemoth only to be swatted around for a while while the Quincy and the shinigami made a plan to attack the creature.

After formulating their plan they went into attack mode, but most of it was ineffective, and the shinigami ended up getting speared by several of the beasts tentacles and almost being dragged into the creature's snapping jaws. Steiner, however wasn't going to allow the beast to have its way. Acting like a cyclone with a sword, Steiner began to cut through the tentacles with precision, but with every cut Steiner felt weaker, and more of those black veins began to pop up on his body as if the two were correlated. Once the shinigami was free, the Quincy would fire a massive shot penetrating it through the head, and Steiner looked at himself for the first time since the battle had began. Covered in black veins and looking less human than some kind of side show freak, Steiner ran away from the two of them, and disappeared into the crowd to better get a handle on what was happening to him. After gaining some distance, Steiner crouched down to cough up blood, and weird black sludge on to the concrete underneath him. He groaned, feeling rather ill, and rather weak, but none the less still able to move. He dragged himself from the city to where he lived, collapsing into his sleeping bag, and not waking up for a few days.

After waking up from what felt like a slumber that had not aided in abaiting his feeling of exhaustion, Steiner looked at himself within the crystal clear waters of a nearby lake to see just how far the disease had progressed. He looked horrifying, like some kind of black sludge had been sloshed on to his skin, and was now leaking down all over his body in random spots. In truth, he felt just as bad as he looked. Some of his body parts were numb, fingers, and toes being the two major areas where he could feel absolutely nothing and with heightened concern, the young man rushed himself back to the hospital for answers from his personal doctor. That doctor, upon seeing Steiner knew for a fact that the disease had reached it critical point, and that Steiner had barely any time left in the mortal coil. The only thing Steiner could do now was ease into the end of his existance and though the doctor was angry at Steiner he understood why he had done this to himself. It was for the sake of others and he himself, as a doctor, could relate to his need to protect and help those in need. He would hand him a bottle of pain killers, stating to take them till the end, and try to enjoy the last few weeks that he had left among the living.

Dejected and angry, Steiner left the hospital, barely able to rationalize how it felt to know that no matter what happened there would only be a few weeks left of all of this, and that it would be over. There would be no more him in this world or the next and the realization had stung. He thought about how he had tried so hard to do the right thing over his life and how he felt that fate was spitting in his face and telling him he should have done more to receive the blessing of life. That time had passed, there was no turning back after what he had done, and he knew that. All those risks and all those lives saved had a price and his body had paid every single cent of it. He found himself wondering if it had all been worth it, though in reality he knew he had done the right thing, and had saved quite a few people's lives, he wondered if it was truly worth him dying over. He had gone in for a penny and in for a pound, but now he was having regrets. So much in his life he had not done and now he would never do, that thought alone pushed Steiner to craft himself a list.

On this list, Steiner wrote a few things that he wanted to do before he ultimately passed from this world. Visit a country here, eat a bit of food there, and see a natural wonder there. His list of random things grew and grew, in truth it was because it was the act of a dying man trying to find things that were worth staying alive for if only to see them or do them once. It was tried and practiced thing known as a "bucket list" and Steiner intended to do every last thing on this list before his body gave out on him. But first he needed to tie up a few things at home. He quit his job, grabbed his last paycheck, and packed his bags to head off to Europe, he had no want to stay in Karkura for the last moments of his life, and knew that heading to Europe, something on his list, would at least be pleasurable. He visited several places, enjoying the sights, smells, and people most of all, but over the course of his trip his disease worsened. He began to cover himself, hiding behind multiple layers of clothing to hide just how far he had fallen from being a once proud human into this disease ridden bag of flesh that was soon to expire. He finally reached the last few things on his list: A trip to Russia and a visit to Vastime. Two things he fully intended to do and enjoy.

Upon arrival in Russia, he would meet up with Ritsuko who was happy to see him again, but upon seeing how in pain he was decided to help the young man explore her home country. He agreed, mainly because he had been isolated for so long from people due to how he felt and looked, and also because he felt that Ritsuko was a good person and he felt by spending time with her he could at least have one friend in the end who knew of him. They visited several places before Steiner became too tired to continue. Telling the young lady goodbye for what he thought would be the last time, Steiner went to a hotel, and booked himself a stay in it. Deciding to spend at least one night in Russia before making his way to Vastime to see it for the first and only time. He struggled with a great deal of depression that night, staring at himself in the mirror, and remembering just how alive everyone else looked. Ritsuko had told him not to give up that day and that he was a hero, it brought a smile to his face, and a few tears to his eyes to hear her say that. It was through her words that Steiner found his strength that night as he prepared for the long trip to Vastime.

Chapter 10 : The Wolf, the Knight, and the Warrior Kingdom

Upon the road to Vastime, a long trek by any means for anyone, Steiner began to feel rejuvinated, and the black veins across his body began to vanish as if they had never been there in the first place. He still looked messed up and not all the veins had faded from view, but he appeared to be much more human than he had been before, he staggered through the wilderness, and different countries all in the prospect of seeing this nation of warriors that Vastime was. Over the course of time, Steiner's stamina improved, and his physical strength seemed to also be returning as his confidence soared with his emotional state improving at a drastic rate. For a while, Steiner chalked that up to the thrill of traveling by foot much like he had done a long time ago, and had done with the elderly lady back when all of this had first started. But over time he began to realize that he was healing, oddly as that might be, and that he was regaining more and more of the strength he had once had. Well, the strength after he had lost his powers, and not the powers he had lost. Which he was fine with, to be rid of the pain was more than enough of a gift. Though having his powers back wouldn't have hurt too much.

Upon finally reaching Vastime, a giant warrior country that was headed by the leader of the Vanguard, Steiner found himself almost fully restored, though with some residual vestiges of the disease that had plagued him. He marched his way into Vastime, easily passing border patrol who were more than ready to welcome a former Vanguard soldier into their country, and upon entering the country, he instantly found himself in front of the rich culture. Several hundred different types of fighting styles, multiple races, and different ethnic groups surrounded Steiner, it was truly a Utopia on Earth even if it was a warrior country. Steiner found himself beginning to wonder if he could make any improvements to his own style here and began to look for somebody who could possibly train him within the country. In truth there were too many people available to train him and not enough time in the world to learn everything that was being offered to him as he walked by. Still Steiner tried his best to find something that would be worth his time as he came across a weird flier offering some type of training. Steiner, curious about what was going on with the flier, decided to pay the location marked on the lfier a visit as to learn just what was going on there.

Upon arriving at the spot where he was told to meet up with the person who was handing out lessons, Steiner would be greeted by the sight of a giant cafe in the middle of Vastime. Double checking to make sure that this was the right place, Steiner shrugged his shoulders, and entered inside to find a fully functional cafe complete with many different patrons who were casting him looks of confusion as he took a seat. For a few moments he sat there wondering it the flier had been out of date, but quickly learned from the owner of cafe, Mirja, that it was indeed not an old flier. After explaining his want to be a hero, Mirja would try to discourage him from walking that path, but Steiner would not relent because it was his life goal to become a hero. She gave him some healing herbal tea and then dashed him out to the training ground where she could teach him the mysterious ways of Tai Chi and about her technique the Tulpa. Steiner, however, did not realize just how dangerous the Wolf's teachings were, and was almost killed by a poison that he was given to put him the certain state of mind to heal himself. Steiner was angry at her for doing such a thing, but understood it was so that he could learn a technique, and not out of spite or some need to kill him.

After that, Mirja would continue to train him offering him the Tulpa technique, which Steiner gained a knack for rather rapidly, and then as even more of a bonus handed Steiner a book with the teachings of Tai Chi in it to him so that he could learn at his own pace. Only to dash off and leave him alone in the field. For a few weeks Steiner would call Vastime home, learning new things from the many military and combat books available, and indulging in the local culture, his disease having melted away years ago to truly bring him closer to one hundred percent. Eventually Mirja would call for him to come to Siberia, not an easy feat for a man without powers, but one that Steiner took, and arrived a week later in the frozen wastes to meet her to go tomb diving for ancient relics. Upon entering the catacombs in siberia he found himself assaulted by giant stone soldiers and the undead, he battled them off, and received injuries while doing so, returning to Mirja, and the two of them leaving the catacombs with relics of ancient power at their disposal. Mirja waved to Steiner, sending him off on his way afterwards. Little did he know this would be the last time that he would see the Wolf.

Chapter 11 : Meeting a Legend and Attack on Vastime

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] 5-effect-1

On his way back to Vastime the young hero decided to make a stop at his old camping ground to collect any of the residual things he had left behind, after all he had determined that Vastime would be his home for at least the time being. Taking a flight from Vastime to Karakura, Steiner returned to his old home, and for a few moments had a fit of nostalgia. Remembering all the times he had trained in the fields and all of the work he had done to get in tip top physical condition here, Steiner smiled with confidence realizing that the next step of his evolution was going to occur in the warrior nation, but he also deduced that he would never forget the time that he had spent here. After all, this camping ground was a core part of his identity. That was when he heard a gunshot, his mind snapping back out of his thoughts, and reminding him that he was near a trade route that was extremely important to nearby villages looking to make trade with the city nearby. Not hesitating to go discover what had occured, Steiner ran his way through the woods, his need to help others overpowering his own self-preservation drive.

When he neared the location where the shot had ranged out, a pack of Hollows were busily munching on one of their own, and a Hollow jumped down from the trees to attack Steiner. However, due to his self-training, and his newly regained health, Steiner was able to fight off the lone Hollow, but in the process alerted the nearby pack of his presence. Steiner, unable to fight off a large number of Hollows, used one of his few advantages against the Hollows to escape being killed, his understanding of the local area. He dodged and weaved through large fields, over creeks, and lept over downed trees to avoid the monsters, but they kept gaining ground and Steiner knew he could not keep outrunning them forever. It would only be a matter of time before these beasts caught him and tore him to shreds, but the worst part is he knew he couldn't fight back against the pack and its numbers. Still, he knew that running was becoming less and less of an option, and turned to fight the creatures after running for a good few minutes and clearing a great deal of distance. Steiner was hesitant to fight that many, but with Tulpa and Tai Chi at his disposal he knew he would have to manage. He, however would never get the chance to display his skills.

From the sky came a pink haired man, who easily dismissed the crowd of Hollows, and did so with a set of weird guns that Steiner had never seen before. Curious and wondering just what sort of person the man with pink hair was, Steiner confronted him, and tried to ask him questions only to be ridiculed for his actions earlier. Stating that he had endangered his life for no reason, the man revealed himself to be Snopy, and that with his level of experience he had easily defeated the beings around him. Steiner offered his testament, stating that no matter if he was outgunned, he needed to protect people, and that his need to protect others was far greater than his want to survive as a coward. Turning a blind eye to possibly unarmed individuals being run down by Hollows was not something that Steiner was okay with. Snopy decided to test Steiner by raising his power and asking him to strike him once, Steiner tried, but the feeling of intense crushing from the mere weight of Snopy's power was more than enough to make him feel like he was under water in a bronze suit. He staggered forward and in the end only managed to make a swinging motion before crashing down to the floor below and lay there cursing his ineptness to hit his elder. Still Snopy was impressed and even applauded his attempt before telling him to come find him later for training before leaving Steiner alone. Steiner composed himself for a bit and then made his way back to camp to gather his things and bought another ticket to fly back to Vastime.

Now on his own and back in Vastime, Steiner decided to spend his time learning, and educating himself through books and anyone who would be willing to spend time to help him hone his skills. Most of the time Steiner would have to pay, but due to a small fortune he had come into by collecting a few relics of importance from the catacombs, money wasn't much of a concern for the young man. Still, the majority of his combat education came from books, and Steiner was absolutely fine with that. Making a local library like a second home, his real home was established in an open field far from the bustle of city life, Steiner had ready access to multiple books on a variety of subjects, and when a particular library had nothing left to offer that he desired, he would make a trip to another library and establish himself there. He did this process for a few weeks, absorbing knowledge like a sponge, and gaining quite a bit of intrigue from the locals as he did so. He contributed the time he didn't spend training or educating himself to helping the community, repairing carts, and helping the elderly with mundane tasks. Before long many people within the city he frequented revered him as a full on member of their community and were quite proud to call him a citizen though he had not yet applied for that.

During one such trip to a local library after helping a few elderly gentlemen get their wares to the local market, a thief would cause trouble on Steiner's way back home. Seeing the thief steal from a young lady, Steiner rushed to do what he had normally done all his life, help somebody in need, but was caught off guard by a member of the Yuudeshi clan named Chifuyuu who berated him for causing so much trouble. Steiner, who felt bad for causing the damage, stated that heroes sometimes had to take risks to help people, and that though he had not been needed to stop the crook not acting was just as bad as being an accesory to the criminal who had perpetrated the crime. Eventually Chifuyuu came around to seeing things his way and even apologized, but Steiner also apologized stating he would help rebuild the damage that he cause by chasing the criminal, and would treat Chifuyuu to a meal for the anger he had riled in her. She agreed and the two became close friends, even to the point that Steiner decided that he would rejoin the Vanguard, as his time being a free agent hero had come to a close, and it was time for him to move and deal with bigger threats.

Around this time chaos began to insue as Adam and a force of Monsuta soldiers assaulted the great nation of Vastime, reaking chaos, and causing massive destruction for miles around. Steiner, not being one to shy away from conflict, threw his hat into the ring, and began to help the citizens of the nation escape from the terrorists who were armed and dangerous. Despite his helping, Steiner and a group of local Vastime soldiers began to get into a bit of a heated argument. Steiner, wanting to evacuate the citizens, and the troops to a much safer location demanded to know why things were going as they were, the soldiers responded with the truth. Their communications had been compromised. Steiner, knowing that there would be no evacuation or reinforcements without the communication systems, stated that he would solve the problem if they gave him the directions to the communication depot. Reluctant to give him the information, but eventually giving in, the soldiers gave him the general location of their communications depot, and Steiner made his way there, fighting his way through enemies in a sparingly matter as to not exhaust himself.

Once inside, the hero would meet a Hollow named Yaksha, and another human named Kai, but not only that a powerful enemy made his presence known. A metal man of unknown origin appeared and the three heroes knew that the only way to save the depot was to fight the man despite their general weakness in comparison to the being. Steiner would receive a heavy injury during this fight and black out, almost fading into the blackness of death before a spark of light and a voice willed him to keep on going and not to die. When Steiner next awoke he was in the desert, surrounded by the corpses of Hollows and demons alike, his body covered in black blood, and his body appearing to be different than it was before. Confused and dazed, Steiner followed the smoke in the distance to return himself to the place where the conflict was probably still ongoing. All the while he wondered what had happened and if they had won the fight or lost it. He knew they had to have won otherwise he would be dead, but the question of how he had got to the desert, and how he had killed so many Hollows and Demons did not have an easy answer for him to swallow.

Chapter 12: The Raven and Evolution

Upon returning to Vastime he found himself hearing mumurs, his mind was fuzzy, and his emotional state was completely out of whack. He found himself staggering around, many of the soldiers who were rounding up remnants of the Monsuta presence there and helping survivors, viewed him as just another survivor, and allowed him to do as he pleased as he didn't appear to be in any immediate need for medical attention. He paused in a nearby alleyway, looking at himself in a shattered window, and seeing himself covered in black blood, but also his body having been slightly physically altered in multiple ways. The murmuring continued and Steiner clutched his head, trying his best to soothe the voices, and keep them from overpowering his senses, but he began to fall pray to them. As he allowed himself to be overwhelmed his sense of hearing greatly escalated, the murmuring becoming confused whispering, and pleading voices that seemed to be coming from all around him. He began to realize that the voices were of the survivors and potential threats, but more over he couldn't quite put his finger on a certain voice that sounded like it was calling to him. Like it was trying with all of its might to overthrow the countless other voices around him and pull him toward it, but before it could Steiner snapped out of it.

He gingerly walked himself across the street, weaving his way through traffic, and past people who gave him glances at how he looked or how he was acting. All the while the murmuring continued, this time more muted as he tried his best to not give himself to the intense feelings that he was going through at the time. That was when he heard noise behind him and he began to black out again, the sounds overpowering him and a voice reaching out to him from among that static noise. He clutched his head, trying to regain composure as he felt something grab his shoulder, and forcibly turn him to face the opposite direction. What stood in front of him was a demon. A demon with horrible claws and monstrous fangs, looking like something straight out of a horror film, and looking to end him with little to no care as to who or what was watching. Steiner reacted outside of himself, as if something inside of him went on auto-pilot. He grabbed the demon, disarmed him with ease, and then picked up a nearby pipe that was from the debris from the surrounding area, feeling some weird energy coursing through his body that caused the pipe to become its perfect self. Unblemished, pure at least as far as Steiner could sense it. He brought the pipe to inches before the demon's face, only to realize it was not a demon, but a man.

Standing still for a few seconds, he dropped the pipe which turned rusty, and began to crack as it left his palms as Vastimian authorities grabbed a hold of him and the man. The man would later be revealed to be a murderer who had eluded capture for months and had ramped things up during the Monsuta assault. Steiner was escorted to a holding room, where he would sit in silence as the officers tried to figure out what to do with the man. After figuring out a bit of information about the man and becoming bewildered with the blood work that revealed two strands of DNA merging into one single strand, they called in an expert from HQ. Henrex would arrive, requesting information from the officers who would gladly give it to a bewildered Henrex who had no idea what was going on with the man in the holding cell. Steiner could sense them in the room adjascent, discussing him, and wondering what he was or what was going on with him, and to be honest Steiner himself didn't know. The murmurs and whispers continued, but they were dull inside the confines of the holding cell much to Steiner's delight. He just hoped that the man known as Henrex could help him piece his life together at this point and help him control the murmurs.

IV. Natural Abilities

» Natural Attributes:

Man At Arms:

Steiner is an indefinite warrior, born to wield a wide variety of different weapons, and though he is most skilled with a sword in his hands, that is not to say he doesn't have the necessary talents to wield a plethora of weapons. Due to the nature of his mixed heritage, being half-primal and half-human, he has gained acces to a domain of influence. Much like many Primals before him and due to the nature of who his father is, Vulcan the great Crafter, Steiner's domain of incluence is weapons. Turning anything or everything on his person into a weapon down to his own nails just comes naturally, no mystic or metaphysical means required for this skill to manifest itself. Still, Steiner's primary style is swordsmanship and this is due to his familiarity with them and his time spent training wielding them. Still when another weapon does enter his hand it seems to be like a lightbulb comes on as after a few test swings Steiner doesn't wield the weapon like a novice anymore, but with the skill of a highly skilled and capable warrior who has wielded said weapons for decades.

Still, Steiner does have a combat style that he does favor, and it does show even when wielding different weapons. At times the weapons he wields do come into conflict with his own personal style of combat, but over time, and continous trial and error eventually he can smooth out the inbalances to enable himself to fight more effectively.

  • Steiner's Style: Steiner's style is a combination of solid defense and solid offense, in essence yielding a balanced style that Steiner can augment and switch around in intense situations by either adding more defense or adding more offense. His style is balanced around well rounded strikes in quick succession trying his best to keep his opponent on the defensive end of things until he wears them out or they make a mistake. This sort of offensive assault tends to involve quick slashes aiming for different points of the body ranging from arms, legs, chest, and shoulder regions, some attacks may be superficial, but are used to induce pain as to allow him to better take advantage of his opponent if the battle is of an attrition nature or to set up for a more serious strike at a later time. Steiner's style is also heavily augmented by his physical strengths and stamina boons, meaning he relies heavily on speed, acrobatics, and longevity to match his opponent instead of relying on brute force.

Steiner's defensive tendencies tend to lean toward parries instead of straight up blocks. Regardless of Steiner's natural strengths he isn't heavily leaned toward the strength end of the spectrum and instead puts a lot of force into the momentum of his blows, thus favoring a parry over a block. His parries can also be used in the manner to throw his opponent(s) off balance to set up a flurry of his own or to give himself a breather if the fight has gone on for far too long. If parrying isn't an option, Steiner relies on his quickness and speed to dodge attacks, but that lowers stamina at a quicker rate than a normal parry, and as such is used sparingly by the young man in combat situations.

The weakness to Steiner's style of fighting is that he relies heavily on melee assaults to put his opponent's down. Due to Steiner preferring to flurry his opponent with unrelenting assaults, his stamina, though impressive, does dwindle rapidly if he is forced to defend, and attack at the same time. However, due to this glaring weakness in his style, Steiner utilizes terrain, observation, battlefield tactics, and agility to close gaps quickly as to make sure that his opponent's can not take advantage of his style of fighting. All in all, Steiner's style does lean heavily on his combat knowledge, quick reflexes, and his ability to adapt, this in turn makes him a hard opponent to keep down and makes him semi-unpredictable in close combat engagements as his speed, even against those with powers, is almost abnormal in quantity.

Tactical Training and Observational Skills:

Steiner is not just a hack and slash swordsmen, but also a man who has a general understanding of tactics and how to employ them on a battlefield. This sort of tactical knowledge was acquired during some required reading from his time in the Vanguard, as most ground level troops needed to understand the basic combat tactics employed by the organization. Steiner took it a step further and studied more complex and complicated tactical formations that the Vanguard employed by consulting the more advanced archives in the Vanguard database. He became well versed in them during his time there, studying and training every day much as he had done on his own, but this time with a bit more direction in the methods to his training habits. After a bit of time spent researching the particular methods the vanguard employed, Steiner began to branch out by borrowing books from the library to hone his skills, so to speak.

After receiving his injury and exiting the Vanguard, Steiner's tactical training went into overdrive, and he began gobbling up information like a sponge absorbs water. Without his powers he knew he would have to focus a greater deal on tactics and how to utilize them in his powerless state. His time spent in bed, begrudging as it was, was mostly spent reading, and learning from some of the best tactical mind's journals and texts left behind from ages long past. The elderly lady helped him in this regard by going to several different libraries to gather books for him to read and also helped him hone his mind with games that required tactical thinking, such as chess, to help him hone his skills. Over time, Steiner began to grow more confident in his abilities as a tactician and eventually his skills for observation grew as a side effect to his expanded tactical knowledge.

After leaving the cottage after a few months of being bed-ridden, Steiner would add researching and developing new skills to his tactical repertoire as part of his training program. Though, Steiner is no where near a master tactician, he can put together plans on the fly thanks to his studies, and understand the value of fighting a certain way over another. In a world where everyone has powers, this way of thinking can lead to aiding in combat situations or in opening up escape routes to be exploited in moments of absolute necessity. Speaking of observational skills, Steiner has a keen eye that isn't totally natural, but rather forged through the studies he has undertaken to improve his combat abilities. He is capable of discerning ambush locations, at least basic ones, and can judge the possible locations of traps thanks to his observational skills that have been honed through study.

The observational skills can expand as well to one on one combat applications, such as reading feints, and countering aggressive combatants. Along with one on one applications, it can also help in multi-opponent combat, as he is capable of using maneuvers to dodge, parry, and counter from multiple angles thanks to improved observational skills and tactical knowledge. This skill has only increased due to the presence of his new budding powers and his domain being that of weaponry. As his observational skills can now spot faint weaknesses in craftsmanship in weapons and armor alike, given time, and proper motivation Steiner can exploit weaknesses of foes wielding weapons or exploit weaknesses in armors.

Exceptional Stamina:

As a young boy, Steiner had always been beaten by his father, and because of this Steiner dedicated himself to honing himself physically as to avoid receiving any more beatings. So Steiner entered into an extreme training regiment comprised of multiple types of physical and analytical exercise sessions to push his limits and grow as a fighter. This training pushed Steiner into many different paths toward becoming physically formidable, one of those paths which involved intense cardio training pushed Steiners own stamina beyond the normal for a powerless human. However, Steiner didn't rest for a single moment after obtaining an impressive stamina, no Steiner escalated his training, and pushed himself farther each and every day. Not skipping a single day of exercise in hopes of eventually being able to avoid his father's ill will.

Eventually after leaving his father behind and being adopted by a foster family, Steiner decided to continue to hone himself in hopes of becoming powerful enough to help others avoid similar fates to his own. To do this Steiner began incorporating obstacle courses into his regiment to simulate combat situations to test his stamina under strain. For years Steiner incorporated more and more taxing obstacle courses to push his stamina further until the strain of the obstacles grew to be too little to help him in improving them. Once an obstacle began to lose its stress level value and Steiner became acclimated to its use, he would switch the obstacle out for a more advanced, and more complicated version of the obstacle. But there was only so much value in training under pre-planned obstacle courses and as such Steiner began to bring himself into actual combat situations to improve his stamina even further.

The battles ranged from difficult one on one skirmishes to brutal multi-enemy combat sessions that Steiner would undergo for the sake of improvement. These were mostly against young up and coming members of the Vanguard and occasionally low level street thugs in the abandoned districts outside of common jurisdiction where crime ran rampant and unchecked. After Steiner's powers were removed from him and he was left a powerless human again and his exit from the Vanguard, Steiner would continue to train against miscreants and thieves in the outskirts of common jurisdiction. These fights became more difficult as Steiner couldn't rely on the crutch that had been his powers if things went south and as such Steiner had to adopt a more tactical approach to his combat methods to best utilize his stamina and combat skills.

Due to the training that he has put himself under up until this point, Steiner has a reservoir of untapped stamina on most days, capable of running for hours on end, and fighting for equal lengths of time. Opponents become worn down under the constant and relentless assaults and defensive maneuvers Steiner utilizes to best maximize his impressive stamina. Also due to the amount of running and exercise he has put himself under, Steiner's lungs are more capable of holding air, and as such it allows him to hold his breath for long periods of time, much more so than the average human, and even some of the more powerful humans on the planet.

Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] Kokorozashi

Undeniable Willpower:

Steiner's will is one thing in the world that will never break, once he has set his mind to something he will not relent until there is some form of resolution to what he is going toward. His willpower has been tested on multiple occasions and each and every single time, Steiner has rose to the occasion and shown great feats of will. Be it saving people in a park from a being with powers while he had none or climbing a mountain with barely any gear just so he could meet someone who could help him awaken his dormant powers, Steiner has shown impressive will to succeed. It is through his will alone that Steiner can survive situations that men and women in similar situations would die in or break from, this will lends into his heroic aspirations, and what allows him to keep pushing even when things are at their bleakest.

Even when Steiner's body is failing, his will kicks in, and forces him to stand bloody and battered due to this will that he has fostered through the traumatic events of his life. Steiner's never say die attitude is ingrained into him through his abuse and of course the conflicts he has been a part of over the years. The trauma he has received over the course of his lifetime would have either broken him or caused him to rise above, and as it has become apparent Steiner has rose above those conflicts to become a pretty damn good human. Along with his will not letting him give up, it is even harder for him to be controlled in a manner that he doesn't wish to be controlled in. This is due to his harsh upbringing and defiance in the face of it, he is used to individuals trying to manipulate him to get what they want, and his own will actively fights against this. Such is human nature to want to be free from control.

In essence, Steiner's will can not be shaken, and his resolve can not be broken by conventional means and it would take a great deal of focus on breaking Steiner's will to even shake it as Steiner is staunch in his beliefs and his own soul actively fights to keep him trudging along the path to his righteous pursuit of becoming a hero.

Vast Knowledge of Forging:

While relatively new to the whole forging and creating weapons and armor way of life, Steiner has been infused with a great deal of knowledge from his time spent in the Lazarus pod. This knowledge mostly focused on what his domain is, weaponry, but also spread out to encompass a vast amount of knowledge around the art of smithing as a whole. As such Steiner understands the processes by which weapons are forged, the methods used to create eccentricities in said weapons, and the process of reforging broken weapons among other things. He utilizes this knowledge in multiple ways, for example: discerning the usage of weapons, identifying the marks of which species or individual crafted a weapon, or exploiting weaknesses utilized by imperfect forging techniques or weaknesses in perfectly forged weapons. In the cases of armors, the knowledge heightens his observational skills as he can identify the chinks in the armor, or the underlying weaknesses of structures based on the craftsmanship and process used to create them.

Additionally, Steiner utilizes this knowledge when using his Forge ability to craft his own weapons and equipment to combat his foes. After all, a dull blade is incapable of piercing or slashing a foe in earnest. As such this knowledge comes in handy when forging a piece of equipment to deal with specific foes where a certain piece of equipment would be quite optimal in dealing with the threat. This knowledge is also used in the understanding and application of specific weapons that he forges. After all, knowing how a weapon is made can help in its practical uses, and also knowing the inherent weakness of the weapon being forged before hand can allow Steiner to make slight modifications to counter act those inherent weaknesses during the process of his Forging technique.

Even so, this knowledge of forging is exactly that, knowledge, and in the case of actual real world application Steiner lacks the experience of a master forger. This limits Steiner's ability to put his own 'flair' on to his equipment, but innately allows him to still use his Forge ability to craft his own equipment. With time and effort, Steiner may one day become one of the greatest forgers on Earth due to his knowledge, and hopefully his blossoming experience in the ways of the craftsman, but for now he is merely a man using the knowledge to forge basic equipment instead of trying to craft masterworks for more permanent use.

Adept Herbalist

Be it for concocting battle field medicinal kits or for simply making soothing and enjoyable tea, Steiner Franz has developed quite a bit of skill when it comes to discerning the uses of herbs and other wild flora. This skill was mainly developed through the few months that he was under Mirja's tutelage and the books on Tai Chi that he read through from time to time that spoke of special herbs that could be used to heal, soothe, or invigorate the soul. Steiner took it a step further, as he usually does when he begins the process of educating himself, and researched into other medicinal herbs. This process of self-education never truly graduated to a vastly deep or contemplative understanding of herbs, but it got to an adequate enough point that Steiner could be confident in self-medicating himself with wild flora or using herbs to concoct special salves to heal the injured or calm their minds. Though, Steiner sometimes does make errors, as most people without a masters in botany tend to do, he still is quite adept at finding herbs in the field, and knowing just enough of their medical or therapeutic properties.

This understanding has expanded since his Demi-Primal heritage was revealed and as a Demi-Primal, Steiner is closer to the Earth, and its natural energies than ever. Though his skills more rely on forging and crafting weapons, this understanding of the natural forces that are at play in the living world has granted Steiner a wider insight. This insight aids Steiner in locating where specific plants and herbs may grow that have medical qualities due to their location on the Earth and their proximity to a major ley line. Though this skill is not extremely useful or anywhere near combat related, it is still an intricate part of Steiner's focal skills, and as is part of who he is.

Earth-Defying Array:

An advanced and powerful Kata - special training exercise - that was created by Mirja, built off the skeleton of works left by a talented but unknown martial artist, Ashigoi Kazuri. The lack of anything more than theory and concepts lead him to be shunned in favor of more solid styles, but this, as Mirja found out, was not the smartest of decisions by the Martial Art World. He left behind the theory to be built upon, not as anything in any way of solidity. And so Mirja took it and created her own Kata for herself, and whoever she felt like teaching it too. The eponymous named technique focuses releasing your earthly tethers, and actualizing your willpower in a physical aspect. The rest are focused on the concept of Tulpa, creations powered by one's sheer tenacity and willpower, literally forcing a thought into the physical world. However, there are limits, the user is only ever able to create two things, a Personal Tulpa, which generally attaches to their body, and a Full Tulpa, which is a creation of it's own but still bound to the creator and unable to stray far, sometimes not able to stray at all, but able to act independently.

As constructs, both the Personal and Full Tulpa's general skills are equal to one rank below Willpower skill. The Creator can focus on one aspect to the detriment of the others, allowing it to be the same rank as Willpower as the expense of the rest being one rank lower. Their tier is also based off of Willpower, being 3 tiers below for adept willpower, 2 for advanced, 1 for master, and equal for Grand master.

The base of the entire style, this Array focuses on the mind more than the body. Lightening the strain of existence, and bringing a state of extended peace to the user. Once this level headed nature has been achieved, the user can focus on the manifestation of their mentality, bringing the mind into play in the physical world. The first manifestation, and the denial of Earth, allows the body to feel light and unrestrained, as the manifested mentality takes a part of the physical side of life. This can either allow the user to enjoy strenuous activity with less taxation on their endurance. [All energy-draining techniques have an increased post limit of 1 for Adept Willpower, 2 for Advanced Willpower, 3 for Master Willpower, and 5 for Grand master Willpower. Beginner Willpower is to weak to have any noticeable change. Tulpa have a limit of the same number of posts. Beginner Willpower can not manifest enough tenacity and discipline to construct a Tulpa]

Personal Tulpa (Armor of the Divine Champion):

Unlike Mirja's version of Personal Tulpa that is an aspect of power and driven by the need for power. Steiner's Tulpa is a manifestation of his Heroic aspirations and his desire to protect those in need of being protected, as such his Tulpa takes the form of the armor of a white knight complete with a massive shield with the emblem of the Vanguard plastered on it. The body of the armor is comprised of an almost metallic substance that is actually raw force of will personified in physical form. This metallic substance is extremely durable and capable of taking hits equivalent to 1 tier less of strength or energy based techniques in comparison to his willpower (Master Willpower can take up to Advanced Tier punishment as example.) That is not to say the armor completely absorbs the damage, but it does lower it quite a deal. The armor instead takes close to 75% of the damage off if the opponent is one tier below his will, 90% if the user is under two tiers, and completely nullifies the damaging portion of the attack if the enemies willpower is under three tiers lower.

The armor is also impressively flexible, allowing for full body movement, and as such enabling Steiner to move freely in combat without having to worry about being slowed down by what appears to be a heavy suit of armor. Admittedly the strongest point that the Tulpa provides its shield which can block attacks with equal valued stats to Willpower (Willpower Master can block a Cero of Master skill level for example). The shield can only do this twice and afterwards the shield shatters indefinitely and if used to block something higher than the value of will Steiner has at his disposal the shield will only lessen the damage by roughly 50% before shattering after one use instead.

Territorial Tulpa:

One's Own Body: Steiner's Territorial Tulpa, which he learned from Mirja, shuns the control of the surroundings and instead hugs the dome tight to his own body, having himself become the Territory. Eschewing control of anything but himself, Steiner can use this technique to control his own body, most commonly using it to purge himself of any foreign pathogens, and to fix damage that has been inflicted. It is not a passive regeneration, as such he needs a moment to focus on it, and repair the damage done to himself. He also requires the knowledge of what is damaged to repair it, and if he is in sufficient pain to be unable to pinpoint the source, then this technique is rendered moot. Pain without a source is also unable to be repaired. Furthermore he is limited to three bones per usage of this Tulpa. The mental strain prevents him from using it twice in a row, and limits him to a maximum of three uses per thread. Despite the limitations, Steiner values the teachings that Mirja gave him on the subject matter, and has trained hard to be able to use the territorial Tulpa in much the same way she does.

32 Swords Tai Chi Form:

Unlike Mirja who specializes in utilizing her hands and feet to perform her Tai Chi techniques, Steiner's techniques with Tai Chi involve wielding the power of weapons as an extension of his body to increase the effective range of his strikes and moves. This however, does not mean that he can't perform the basic maneuvers of Tai Chi without a weapon, it just means that Steiner's techniques with Tai Chi are vastly superior with a weapon of some kind in his hand. Furthermore when channeling Reiki through his weapons to increase the power of his blows, the damage caused by the weapon is increased by 50% more than when he would do it to channel it through to his fists and feet. This is due to the style prioritizing the power of weapons over the power of simply using one's fists or feet to do the battling for you.

The style itself is extremely fluid, focusing on quick blows, and impressive counter attacks to consistently keep the opponent off guard while also lessening the physical strain on the body that normal Tai Chi can produce from having Reiki course through them to increase their damage. The effects of Five Fire Pillars also apply to a Reiki enhanced weapon and provide a burning damage additional effect on top of the impressive increase to overall damage.

IV. Natural Abilities Continued!

» Passive Chi Abilities:

Primal Body, Human Soul:

Steiner's body is irregular in many ways due to the nature of his heritage. An unnatural stamina, an unbelievable resilience, and a body made to perfectly assimilate the natural energies of the world around him. Referred to simply as having a "Primal Body", Steiner can gather the natural energies of his surroundings to enhance his own abilities to combat foes stronger and faster than himself. This is all possible due to a natural occurring genetic inheritance that is only possible due to the mixed blood line that Steiner has. This allows Steiner to store an unbelievable amount of chi energy in himself. This hereditary boon inside of his body, is constantly circulating chi energy throughout all of the major systems in his form. The appearance of this process of chi energy circulating at a consistent rate visibly is shown via weird runic symbols that appear all over the skin, glowing a bright blue at times and at others a bright teal. These symbols are not actually on the skin, but within a special network of veins that the chi energy travels through to reach not only nerve clusters to dull pain, but also major muscle groups, and vital organs to further enhance stamina and other physical qualities that Steiner possesses.

The powers associated with the Primal Body are usually enhanced reflexes, increased strength, and improved regeneration factor. However, these are simply the passive effects of the Primal Body. These passive effects can be drastically increased by forcing the chi energy inside of himself into a volatile state, upping the rate of chi saturation within his muscles, nerves, ligaments, and bones. By forcing the chi energy into a more volatile state, Steiner increases his reflexes, strength, and his regeneration factor even further than if he allowed things to be as they were. There are a few ways to force the chi energy into a volatile state, all of them can cause great strain on the systems that the chi energy is saturating, but can be quite rewarding if used properly. One such way is to assimilate outside chi energy into his body, to do this Steiner must receive the chi energy from a willing donor. It can not be taken by force and must be received via choice and nothing else. Steiner can assimilate this energy from other humans, plants, animals, and even the land itself if a particularly strong ley line is nearby.

A second way to force the chi energy in his body into a volatile state is to push himself to the brink of death. Once on the brink of death his body will naturally begin to produce large quantities of chi energy which begin to overflow into his natural systems. This way causes a great deal of distress to Steiner, but is also the strongest form of volatile chi energy that he can acquire. Once in this state, all reserves are thrown to the wind, and an evident change in the color of the runes across his body can be seen. The runes appear to turn blood red and even the veins of Steiner's body can be visibly seen underneath his skin, glowing a dull red themselves symbolizing the amounts of chi energy that is floating through his blood at that point. In this form, Steiner's physical abilities are pushed further, but the strain on the body can be seen on his face with every technique and movement he makes.

The third and final way to push his energy into a volatile state is by pure force of will. This way is extremely rare and Steiner has not practiced doing this enough to warrant this being a true way to unleash the true power of his body. In this form, Steiner's runes glow pure white and a sense of calmness can be seen across his face upon activation. By doing this with will alone, Steiner is not putting as large of a strain on his body, and in that same boat is not receiving as major of a power up as if he had gained this power from an outside force or if he was near the brink of death. However, this form is more controllable , and is a lot less likely to cause him any serious damage upon using it either. The other two have huge risks and high rewards, but this form is a low risk and semi-useful reward.

Focused Chi Regeneration:

Steiner's natural chi system within his body, that can be used to store unbelievable amounts of chi energy not only from his own self, but from other things as well, can be used to naturally enhance the rate of regeneration to an obscene level. To do this Steiner has to focus his chi energy in his body upon the process of "healing". During this time, Steiner's chi energies are focused entirely on healing, and can not be used in an offensive manner. Meaning that all of the natural gifts that come associated with Primal Body, Human Soul, are no longer present, and instead his body is solely focused on "superior regeneration". This process usually doesn't take too long, but does require a bit of focus on Steiner's part to regulate the amount of chi being utilized to mend wounds or broken bones that need attention.

If his focus is broken, the healing will be incomplete, and he will have to make due with the amount of healing he has received during that time of focus. This power can not be used frequently and is not typically a very useful power when fighting on the fields of battle as it requires you to focus on it and it alone. However, it can be used to fully restore limbs, organs, and bones that have been broken or destroyed during a battle. This move is also high risk, high reward, and if used at the proper time can restore someone to full health completely with low risk. Furthermore Steiner can "share" this healing factor by making a laceration on one of the runes on his body, and using the chi saturated blood on an open wound. This 'sharing' of this passive ability can not restore limbs, but it can repair broken bones, torn ligaments, restore organs to full function, and heal moderate wounds. Much like if this ability was being used on himself, he loses the passive benefits of his Primal Body while focusing on healing the wounds of his comrade.

Chi Infusion

There was once an old legend of a man who wished that everything that he touched would be turned to gold, but the wish that he made was taken too seriously. Everything he touched did turn to gold as he had wanted, but in that same way he lost his ability to touch those he loved, the food he ate, or the drink he consumed. Eventually he died of starvation, unable to eat, and unable to live without the one's he cared for. Steiner has a similar ability, sans the turning everything into gold, and the name of that ability is Chi Infusion. Anything inanimate that Steiner touches has its properties maximized to their fullest potential. A shovel becomes the finest tool that has ever been used to dig up dirt, a leaky pipes no longer leaks, and a sword becomes so sharp that the blade can cut through almost anything.

The process begins by Steiner touching an item with the bare skin of his hand, upon doing so a link is established that rapidly begins to flood the item with his own Chi and the energies of the world around them. The item is quickly enriched by this flood of energies, its molecular structure reorganizing, and its properties being enhanced by the energies that are flowing inside of it. The properties that are enhanced are chosen by Steiner, effected by his will and intent for its use, and this is the only aspect of the process that Steiner can control as the molecular manipulation is taken completely out of his hands. The item, via the link established by physical contact, becomes an extension of Steiner's body, and the process of "flooding" is merely Steiner's body saturating the item with his own energies out of confusion. To Steiner's body it is like he has grown an extra limb and his body quickly goes to enhance it, much like how it reacts inside of his Primal Body.

These energies go to work to quickly reinforce the items natural molecular state. This change in the molecular state of the item, makes the item resistant to any form of degradation, and the item becomes harder to break. This resistance to degradation comes from the item naturally cycling energy through it like it is alive, any flaw that is found is quickly targeted by the energy, and repaired. This resistance, however has a limit as an enemy of three sub tiers or higher to his own could overcome this resistance. As for the increase in durability, much like the process of fixing flaws to make the item immune to degrading effect, the energy also actively repairs damage done to it to a certain extent, but that is limited, and the repair quotient can be increased by increasing the flow of energy through the item. This process continues for as long as Steiner's hand remains on the item, but as soon as Steiner's hand leaves the item is when things truly get interesting.

Removing his hand from the item immediately severs the connection that Steiner has established, but the process of severing is much more extreme than it sounds. When Steiner severs the link that he established by touching the item, all of its energy, along with the energy that he himself sent into the item, is drained, and returns to Steiner's body. By doing this the item quickly begins to degrade into its worst possible state. A sword becomes little more than a rusted toothpick, a shovel becomes a twisted archaic tool that can't even be used, and a pipe becomes absolutely useless spewing its contents that it was holding all over the place. The worst part is that the item in question can not be restored via the method of Chi Infusion again as the item has reached a state far beyond what the effects of the infusion can enhance. The item is effectively worthless after the process of being severed.

Furthermore, the only way to stop the Chi Infusion process is to not touch something with the bare hand, as the process can not be stopped once it has began. This is why Steiner wears gloves as to avoid unnecessary enrichment and by process of extension unnecessary destruction of personal items. Much like the Midas touch, this passive effect can not be turned off, and Steiner hasn't had the ability long enough to learn how to properly control the ability. With time and effort he may learn one day or another how to stop the negative effects of this passive, but for now he just chooses to wear gloves and play it safe. The only items that seem to be immune to the negative effects of the infusion process are items of Masterwork or Legendary quality as the materials utilized to forge these items are far more pristine than the average items seen in stores or being wielded by the common every day man.

Steiner's Chi Infusion has no effect on spiritually linked items, well that is not to say it has no effect, rather that the introduction of life energy into a spiritually focused item would be almost like turning the item into a bomb. A few examples of spiritually linked items would be a Quincy's bow or a Shinigami's Zanpaktou. Things like a Sugiran's weapon or weapons of living organism would still be effected by this ability.

Domain Access - Universitus Index

A vast and neigh limitless font of knowledge developed by the late Greater Primal, Vulcan, the Universitus Index is a source of information that dates back to the very beginning of the world. It holds knowledge of ancient civilizations, the evolution of the natural species, and the concepts of science developed by those species. That knowledge is limitless, but it is also extremely taxing to search through without some form of assistance. Vulcan, knowing this, created a special Artificial Intelligence to aid in the process of searching through it, as who has time to look through many millions of years of history. Named Sylvia, the Intelligence acts as a guide to take the user who is interfaces with it, to wherever it needs to go.

Sylvia, as an artificial being, has certain quirks that have developed on their own, and those traits are quite obvious after spending only moments talking to her. She is heavily analytical, at times pushing only the absolute facts on to the user, and ignoring any hypothetical situations as the information she has access to is absolutely "accurate" and has absolutely no flaws. Furthermore she is quite arrogant and bossy, acting as someone who simply can not stand being idle for too long, and trying to boss around the user to do what she needs them to do. The reason for this may be that she can't do anything on her own, lacking any physical form, and tangibility. She is also extremely over-protective, acting as a motherly figure at times, and also trying her best to nurture the user in whatever way she possibly can so that he can grow to reach his fullest potential.

Besides acting as a mere font of information the index also doubles as a means to survey the area around the user and Sylvia. This process is mostly to absorb as much data and information from the active surroundings as possible to keep the index up to date, but it also can be used for other purposes. The surveying ability of the Index acts as a second pair of eyes, increasing the passive awareness of the user, and also can be focused to provide a much more detailed analysis of certain things by merely focusing its processes on doing so. Furthermore, the Index can be used to increase combat awareness, acting as the proverbial eyes in the back of the head, to help the user defend itself, and combat foes with much more relative ease. As the index is always active, such is the increases to combat awareness, and passive awareness which by default makes it harder to surprise or sneak attack the one who has access to the Index.

The Index, however, can not be accessed for long without the help of Sylvia. Its original design was crafted to be used by Primals and as such it does not work well with races that do not have the basic physiology of a Primal. In this regard Sylvia takes a lot of the load off by acting as information buffer, as the minds of non-primal races can not handle the overload of information very easily, and even in the case of a Demi-Primal her role is still necessary to insure that one does not fry their brain. While being able to limit the overflow in the case of a Demi-Primal to allow him to operate without a chance of frying his own brain passively, it is still quite possible for a Demi-Primal to fry himself out by accessing the Index instead of passively allowing it to act of its own accord. As such Steiner utilizes the Index almost completely in the passive sense, allowing it to observe his surroundings, and help him in combat situations while only accessing the Index's in-depth information only when it is absolutely necessary.

» Sei Abilities:

Primal Xinfeng

Much like a normal chi human, Steiner has access to all of the power, and strengths associated with that sub-section of humanity, however due to the non-human physiology that his body is composed of, the chi energy utilized for these matters is quite a bit different. In the case of Steiner's Xinfeng the energy that is thinly pulled over his skin is much stronger than a normal human, capable of absorbing much higher levels of impact and even enabling Steiner to "catch" or "halt" other forms of energy with his hands. The Xinfeng would be appear normal to those who are capable of sensing the energy being utilized to form it, but on closer examination it shows slight difference. Unlike a mist, Steiner's Xinfeng almost appears to be absolutely solid, almost like a second skin placed around his body, but even further than that it appears to be slightly earthen in appearance, a trait that comes from his Primal genetics.

This second skin is much more concentrated around the hands as Steiner's domain being that of weapons has forced his Xinfeng to be more accommodating to the young man. This thicker layer of Xinfeng around the hands is extremely dense, capable of taking heavy swings from swords and other weapons, and blocking small projectiles fire such as arrows or bullets. The density of his Xinfeng is not, however, equivalent to his investment into the skill of Sei, another key difference between Steiner and the rest of the Chi Human population. His Xinfeng is a manifestation of his own will and has taken this much denser form than a normal Xinfeng thanks to his force of will and Primal genetics alone. As such his Xinfeng is powered by his will, much like a Tulpa that is always active around its wielder, but still runs on the natural energies of Chi.

Domain Access - Combat Trance

Conflicting thoughts, sensory overload, and intense pain can all inflict severe harm on one's senses and force a warrior to make mistakes. If one had the ability to push all outside thought to the side, to ignore certain senses to maximize combat potential, and to dull the pain that they receive then they could truly become a juggernaut on the field's of battle. Such is the power of Steiner's Combat Trance. Entering into a calming, almost completely zen like state, Steiner completely gives himself into the fight that he is in. His chi energy flowing to his muscles and enhancing only the necessary senses to wage war to better fight his opponents. This action further increases his reflexes, his strength, his speed, and his absolute combat awareness by putting his sole focus into specific parts of his body and ignoring everything else. (This effect is to the equivalence of raising his Strength, General Speed, and Focus up a stage. The limit of this increase is up to Master skill stage.) By doing this Steiner becomes an almost unstoppable wrecking ball of destruction to his foes and absolute champion of those in need of them to his allies.

The trance also acts as a buffer to pain as not only does his chi energy enter into his muscles to enhance their combat ability and into his mind to push outside thinking and enhance his ability to read the senses necessary for battle, but it also effects the pain receiving nerves throughout his body. When Steiner would feel a great deal of pain by receiving a massive wound inflicted on to him, the opiate receptors in the brain are quickly flooded by artificial endorphin crafted by the chi energy to lessen the pain to a point that Steiner can keep fighting. The draw back to such a thing is also its greatest strength. While Steiner's artificial endorphin production does lessen the pain he is receiving from attacks, it also makes him truly oblivious to the damage that he has taken. This mean Steiner would continue to fight regardless of just how far his physical body has been worn down, and broken. (This effect is the equivalent of raising his Pain Endurance up a stage, with its limit being up to Master.)

Also there are innate limits to just how much chi energy his muscles and sensory centers can be flooded with. While Steiner may be capable of utilizing this power for long periods of time, he will feel absolutely drained afterward. Furthermore, long periods of flooding these senses, and muscles can cause damage to stack up, and due to the dulling endorphin being pumped into his pain receivers he will not feel it. Bones being shattered, muscles being severed, and internal hemorrhaging are things that just fly under the radar while the trance is active. There is a limit to how long Steiner can hold the trance and after four posts of combat, Steiner will find himself mentally fatigued and physically fatigued. That is not to mean he can't keep going, but at a greater risk of injuring himself beyond the limits of what his own healing factor can restore on their own. Even if pushed beyond the four post limit, Steiner may only be able to have it last a single post longer, but would also be injuring himself in the process to an extreme degree. This ability can only be activated once per thread.

Gaia's Boon

As stated earlier, Steiner's body is different than most humans as he displays the genetic traits of both Human and Primal physiology. This dual heritage at times is both a good and bad thing. While being uniquely more resistant than a common human would be to most types of energy, Steiner's body is inherently weaker to the opposing element associated with his domain of weapons. Weapons, a domain that is associated with that of the Earth itself, grants Steiner unique abilities that can simply be labeled under the broad term of "Gaia's Boon". Gaia's Boon grants Steiner grants Steiner the ability to actively channel the strength of the Earth into himself, pulling the ancient primal energy of the ley lines into his flesh, and bones to reinforce himself and make himself stronger than any metal. (This is the equivalent to raising his Durability up a stage. With the limit of this stage increase being Master skill stage.) That is to say as long as Steiner is on the ground.

Much like Steiner's ability to infuse a weapon with his own chi energy to bring out its maximum potential, such is the same case with Gaia's boon. Except in this case, Steiner is the weapon, and the Earth acts as his wielder. While Steiner is on the ground in any capacity, Steiner has a near infinite source of power to draw upon, and can consistently refill his reserves from the natural powers that the Earth willingly gives him due to his domain. This energy can be used to enhance his physical attributes, increase his regeneration factor, or to exponentially be expended to perform powerful attacks on his opponent. The only limit to how much energy can be stored using this method is his body itself, while damaged physically the body is like a leaky pipe, but while Steiner's body is unharmed the energy continues to build up until it explodes.

The Earth's energy reserves may be limitless, but Steiner can only draw on a bit of that energy at a time. This limit to how much energy he can draw upon is roughly up to 5% of his maximum reserves at a time worth of energy per post. Steiner still holds an aversion to the opposite element of earth, which is water. While being in the presence of water, this ability can not activate, and when being assaulted with an ability that utilizes the element of water this ability immediately deactivates if activated prior to the attack. Furthermore, this ability can only be used when Steiner is on the ground. If Steiner becomes airborne he loses the connection he has with the Earth and is unable to draw on its powers to enhance his own. Losing the effects if they were active and being unable to activate the effects while he is airborne. As such Steiner tends to keep his feet on the ground as to avoid being severed from the gift that he has been granted.

White Arrow

Steiner has two forms of movement increasing effects at his disposal: the common Chi Human technique of Xin Yue Buzhou and a technique that is exclusive to Steiner known only as White Arrow. The White Arrow technique typically pushes a large portion of chi energy into the legs or arms to rapidly increase the speed of those specific body parts. This technique is incredibly similar to a Soul Evolution Human's Soul Dash, allowing Steiner to attack quickly or dodge out of the way quickly without utilizing the Xin Yue Buzhou technique. The appearance of this technique makes the user's body parts being effected by it to appear to be glowing a bright white, hence the name of "White Arrow". The body parts move so fast that they give off heat and upon making contact with an adversary even burn the target as if the limbs had caught fire from the friction of moving so fast. This is due to the energy being gathered into one specific point of the body and its gathering there raising the temperature of that part of the body drastically.

While that may burn others it does not burn Steiner as it merely a gathering of his own energy in that specific limb. While similar to the Soul Dash technique, White Arrow drains a great deal of energy, and that is because unlike Soul Dash which is limited to the skill level that it is associated with White Arrow increases in speed the longer it is used. Unlike a normal Soul Dash, White Arrow can be maintained for long periods of time, burning through energy the longer it is used, and the more energy that is expended the faster one can become. In the case of White Arrow that speed increase can also be quite harmful as Steiner can push his body to a point to where the speed can be damaging to the body. Easily surpassing the normal limiters of what his body can take via naturally gained resistance to moving at higher speeds. Furthermore, the faster he makes himself move the more heat he gives off, and in that same boat the higher the level of burn an opponent receives via physical contact.

» Dou Abilities:

Forging

The process of forging weapons and armors has been something that has been passed down through many generations from one man to the next. The process of forging was first founded and pioneered by the first to walk the path of the Greater Primal Vulcan, the leader of the creation sect of the Primal civilization. While the process usually involves the typical smithing tools and the necessary materials to forge the items in question, Steiner's forging ability is quite different. By touching his hand to the ground, Steiner can draw upon the forces of the Earth itself, dragging out metals, and other minerals to forge himself adequate enough equipment to go to battle with. While still needing to know the shape and the general function of the item that he is crafting, Steiner can forge almost an infinite amount of times without feeling drained or exhausted.

The items crafted by this method are vastly better at receiving the energies that he has to offer via Chi Infusion and are actually much stronger than normal equipment crafted by another's hand when effected by Chi Infusion. Still these items are susceptible to the downside of the Chi Infusion ability and without Chi Infusion these items are generally on the weaker side of normal equipment. This is due to Steiner not fully understanding the ability within itself as it is a new ability, but that does not mean that the equipment is faulty rather that the equipment is of low to mid-tier quality at best. Like a blade forged by a new blacksmith. (The quality of the swords is equivalent to the Dou Skill)

Gaia Force

By channeling the energies of the Leylines and his own chi energy, Steiner can create a devastating blast of energy that fires in a straight line from the palm of either of his hands. This blast of energy is a mixture of two energies: one being Primal energy and the other his own natural chi energies. The mixture creates a devastating blast that launches forward, consuming any enemy of the Earth in its' wake, and destroying those that are considered to be the enemy of Steiner. (Gaia Force is considered to launch at one stage higher than normal. Meaning that if one has an Adept in Dou they would instead be launching it at an Advanced Skill stage) This attack however, can not be launched more than once every three posts as the ability drains a great deal of energy and Steiner requires time to recover from utilizing this ability.

The blast of energy is also not just a destructive force as allies and the land around it are healed upon making contact with the energies. (The healing factor is equivalent to the Dou skill stage upon use of this ability.) Allies and the land alike find themselves blessed by the Earth itself, feeling reinvigorated, and finding themselves ready to re-enter the fight as the mixture of energies heal wounds, cleanse ailments, and soothe sore muscles and bones. Those who are afflicted by mental instability that are hit by this wave of energy find themselves cleansed of chaotic thought as their minds become calm and collected as the Earth itself helps them find balance within themselves. The person under the effects of mental instability must have less willpower than Steiner to receive any relief from their madness, if they have more willpower this part of the ability is not effective, unless if the person being hit by this technique wishes to be cured of their insanity.

Magma Control

The Earth itself is a weapon for Steiner, his domain over weapons granting him control and understanding of a vast amount of finely crafted weapons. The Earth is not only one of those weapons, but the mostly deadly weapon within his arsenal. Steiner can will the Earth to fight for him, summoning the ancient powers that forged the realm of Earth, and bringing them down upon his enemy in an attempt to destroy them. The appearance of this technique starts when the Earth begins to rumble underneath as the land itself shifts and shakes as though an earthquake were occurring, but that is not the case. Instead plumes of lava emerge from the Earth, viciously trying to consume the foes of the Earth, and Steiner alike. These plumes of lava are controlled by Steiner's will and they lash out at foes who get too close or try to escape from the fight that has began. The magma summoned by this ability can be used for multiple purposes, it can be formed into a shield of magma around the user, protecting him from attacks, and creating a wall of heat that enemies dare not get close to. (This shield's strength is the equivalent of his Dou Skill when blocking attacks that do not have the water element within their attack. If the attack involves the element of water this shield's strength is instead considered to be one stage lower of skill in Dou). The heat of this shield has no effect on Steiner or those he views as allies.

Furthermore the magma can be concentrated into one giant wave of lava that washes over enemies and the land itself, consuming like a raging inferno, and destroying everything in its path. This effect is harder to manage and takes at least one post of this ability being active for Steiner to put it into a giant wave. Once the wave has been used this ability can not be used again for at least five posts. The magma can also coat Steiner's weapons, creating a searing effect on contact with the flesh of his opponent's, and melting through most form of armor. (Increases Weapon Skill stage by one while this effect is active.) This effect will eventually destroy the weapon, but the effect lasts only for two posts before the weapon melts away and turns into slag. Otherwise the effects of this ability last five posts before the lava returns to the Earth once more. The lava that is controlled by Steiner can not be manipulated in any way shape or form outside of Steiner's own voalition.

Earthen Crusade

Steiner's body is filled to the brim with mixtures of two different energy sources as his body glows with the heat of the Earth's forging forces. Steiner begins to emit wave after wave of Primal Energy as he walks forward, attacks that utilize energy melt as the heat from this ability melts the very composition of the attack, and attackers trying to enter into melee are forced into retreat as the heat begins to burn the fabric of their garments and singe their skin. The force of this march, this crusade is slow and methodical, burning away the sinners, and invigorating those around it to take up arms and march with Steiner to battle the corrupt. Allies of Steiner are infused with a burning desire as they stand next to Steiner, their wills burning with the conviction to fight for what is right in the world, and to fight to protect those that are dearest to them. The effect of this energy on allies increases their Willpower by one stage and also increases their Strength or General Speed skill by one stage up to Master, whichever is higher.

Enemies who fire energy attacks at Steiner or his allies who are within one hundred yards of Steiner will find their energy attacks reduced in effectiveness by 75%, but completely dispersing energy attacks that are two Skill stages lower than Steiner's Dou Skill into nothingness by the heat tearing it apart. This is due to the heat speeding up the particles that constitute those energy attacks until they are moving too fast to continue to stay together, thus they split apart, and disperse. Those who choose to fight Steiner or his allies within this one hundred yard are afflicted by the forces that forged the world. They find themselves sapped of their will to fight and their strength to continue pressing their assaults being sapped from them. The enemies within this one hundred feet lose one stage in their Willpower skill and lose one stage in either General Speed or Strength, whichever is higher. If their willpower is knocked to the stage of Beginner they have the coerced to surrender, but can keep on fighting with a nagging feeling of dread washing over them as they continue to fight.

This effect lasts for two posts, with an effective range of one hundred yards, and can only be used once per thread.

» Seidou Abilities:

Oath

What are Oaths and how do they operate, well the simple analysis of an oath start with the basis of what the person pledging it has in mind and who they are pledging themselves to. In this case the person they are pledging themselves to is Steiner Franz and those who pledge themselves to him and to fight for him on the fields of battle are rewarded with the strength, wisdom, or cunning to fight against any heathen who would dare defile the Earth or to hurt the innocent. These oaths are taken quite seriously and are binding contracts, pledging their lives to fight for Steiner if the world needs protecting, and in the process of doing so they will receive boons from the Earth for doing so. However, not all oaths are the same, and not all oaths grant the same boon as the others. So to pledge an oath to Steiner is to accept a specific boon by pledging a specific oath. In this case their are currently three oaths that can be pledged, each offering a specific boon while in a certain range of Steiner.

  • Oath of Wisdom: Upon pledging to Steiner the Oath of Wisdom, a warrior will find himself infused with the primal energies of the Earth itself. These energies instantly effect the mind increasing the Mental Deduction Skill by one stage as the energies effect the problem solving portions of the brain allowing for those that need to think deeply to truly think as deeply as they possibly can. Along with this gift of mental deduction, Steiner also grants the one who pledged this oath temporary access to the Index. Allowing him to converse with Sylvia much like himself and find whatever he or she wishes from the information that the Index has to offer. However, while searching the Index the user will only be able to look for one thing in a single post, and once that one thing has been found and the information is required he will not be able to access the Index again for three posts.

  • Oath of Courage: Upon pledging to Steiner the Oath of Courage, a warrior will find himself infused with the powerful energies of the Earth itself. These energies instantly energize the soul, reinvigorating the will, and kindling the fighting spirit of those within range of Steiner. Those effected by this Oath have their Willpower Skill raised by one stage while within active range of Steiner. Along with this gift of increased Willpower, the Earth also restores the stamina of the one who pledged this oath once every four posts while they are within range of Steiner. This effect is caused by the Primal energy entering into the body of the pledge bearer and restoring the bearers own energy reserves by becoming one with them.

  • Oath of Valor: When pledging the Oath of Valor, the Earth itself roars with deafening approval, and instills its strength into the pledge bearer. Those who chose to make this oath instantly find themselves feeling stronger or faster and their blood boils as their will to fight soars to unbelievable heights. Those who are effected by this oath have either their Strength or General Speed Skill increased by one stage (their choice). They also find themselves capable of expending all the energy granted to them by the Earth in one violent assault. This attack launched instantly expends all of the energy given to them and launches an attack at one less stage than Steiner's Dou Skill. This attack is a beam of energy that launches from either the tip of their weapon or from the palms of their hand and flies true until it hits an object or an enemy. Once it has done either of those things it explodes into a massive display of fire and magma, melting things within five feet of it into molten slag.

These effects are only active if the pledge bearer stays within 75 feet of Steiner, once the bearer has left that range the oath is still there, but inactive. Upon re-entering the effective range the benefits of the oath once again return and they may fight with the full force of the Earth behind them once more. Steiner may only have one oath active at a time and once the oath bearer has exited the effective distance of the oath, the energy that has been gifted to them, returns to Steiner, only returning when they re-enter the effective range. When in the presence of more than one Oathbearer, Steiner decides who receives the energy.

Oathbreaker

Scoundrels and evil doers exist through out all of known history and the worst of those lots are those that are considered traitors. In that same vein, those who break an oath with Steiner quickly learn that fighting against the one that they had originally pledged to fight along side was a mistake rather rapidly. After all, by betraying Steiner you are betraying justice, and the Earth itself. And while Steiner may forgive them, the Earth will never forgive them for the horrible transgression that they have committed. As such the Oathbreaker ability is not an ability that Steiner actively utilizes, but is one that activates upon an ally with an oath chooses to attack Steiner. That ally is instantly judged as an enemy and the once benevolent energy of the Earth that coursed through them to enhance their abilities quickly turns on them, attacking their very core, and destroying them from within.

Those plagued by Oathbreaker lose one stage worth of skill in both General Speed and Strength as they feel their bodies are too heavy to move and their muscles in too much pain to utilize them properly. As they try to fight Steiner they are plagued by intense pain as the energy that had once benevolently enhanced them begins to target their pain receptors within their body, actively assaulting them, and sending pain cascading throughout themselves to the point that even trying to move a step forward feels like a million needles have been plunged into their very soul. The longer they fight against Steiner, the more the pain increases, and the more they feel their body grow heavy and their muscles lose their strength. After three posts of combat the oathbreaker will drop another stage of both General Speed and Strength Skill. Those with a Willpower higher than Steiner can not be effected by Oathbreaker.

Justice Bringer

Steiner is a bringer of righteous intentions. To those who have shown kindness and wish to protect the weak, Steiner stands as their staunch ally marching with them to fight against the forces of darkness without hesitation. To those who would dare defile the world, kill others with no remorse, and wish to bring the innocent's throats to the underneath of their boot, Steiner is their most hated enemy. Justice Bringer is an ability that effectively makes Steiner stronger when in the presence of great sin and absolute evil. Increasing his combat skills exponentially based on the level of threat that he is going against in front of him. Those with chaotic intentions who look to watch the world burn that are of a whole tier above him will find Steiner's combat skills raised to match his opponent blow for blow. Steiner's General Speed, Dou, Sei, and Buzhou Skills are all raised by one stage upon this skills activation up to Master stage. For Steiner to activate this ability he must know that the opponent must have committed a crime and must face them in one on one combat.

If an ally comes to intervene in the battle, the effects of Justice Bringer are negated, and Steiner's Skills are reset to their non-Justice Bringer levels. If an ally comes to intervene on behalf of the enemy instead, the power of Justice Bringer greatly increases, removing the cap on the increase to the Skills, and truly allowing Steiner to become a weapon of Justice itself. While this ability is extremely powerful, Justice Bringer has its' innate weaknesses, and over the course of the battle, due to the extreme amount of energy being pushed into Steiner's body to maintain the boosts, begins to cause damage to Steiner's body. With the possibility of the ability even being able to kill him. At best, Steiner can hold Justice Bringer for five posts before the effects reach dangerous levels, and he must drop the added benefits of the form to rest. After the ability is deactivated, Steiner can not reactivate this ability for the remainder of the thread.

» Awakened Appearance:
Steiner Franz REBOOT! [APPROVED, 3-1+/2-3] Latest?cb=20160306113337

A massive summoning of primal energy and an influx of uncontrollable Chi energy engulf Steiner Franz as he stands there screaming as his body is forcibly adapted to answer the call of the Earth to purge the evil on it. His body begins to grow in height, gaining almost a foot more in total, causing him to tower above most of the normal humans who walk this planet. His physical frame expands, pounds of muscle, and stronger bones being forged on a whim by the energies now controlling Steiner's form and forcing him to become what he needs to be to truly protect the innocent and defend the Earth. His hair begins to lengthen, its color fading to white with a hint of pink, the pink being the only sign that once Steiner had been a red haired young man. His skin begins to tan, the original color of his skin returning to him as if he had spent many years standing under the open sun. His eyes open, no longer just a steel blue, but now glowing slightly as if the energy inside of him has filled him to the brim, and even his eyes are alight with their power.

His clothes change, armor being forged on his body as pieces of metal are enhanced with primal and chi energy until they are adequate enough to defend their champion from harm. Steiner's clothes turn black as the fabric itself is enhanced and thickened by the energies at play withing him until Steiner's whole outfit has been transformed into more of a knight like appearance. Out from the light of these mixing energies steps a new hero, forged from the powers of the Earth, and made to conquer the evils that face it. He looks around, a calm stare that inspires his allies, and disheartens his enemies. Finally the last piece of his transformation begins as a glowing runic symbol appears on his chest, glowing green as the Primal and Chi energies converge within him to fuel this transformation.

» Awakened Powers:

Armor of the Primal Knight

Steiner's new duds are not for show even though they do appear to be quite flashy. The powerful armor, forged from the metals of the Earth, and enhanced by the dual energies present within him have forged a mighty champion's set of armor. This armor is capable of absorbing massive blows and easily aiding in the deflection of enemy's fire. While the armor does appear to be quite heavy it is in fact very light and actually quite easy to maneuver around in. Two things that Steiner needs to operate at full capacity and is quite thankful for having. The fabric used to create his clothes has also been enhanced, not to the same extent of the armor forged by the transformation, but enough to take some small arms fire from long distances and capable of lessening the impact of blunt weapon strikes by a certain percentage.

When the armor or fabric becomes damaged, the chi and primal energies within it begin to rapidly repair the armor fabric until it is fully restored. This means that the Armor and fabric can not be fully destroyed as they are technically channeling the dual energies of Steiner's form through out them. Almost like the armor itself is a piece of Steiner's own body.

Earth's Requiem

A faint, but haunting tune fills the air as the Earth itself laments for those that have fallen in its name. The people that once tried to protect it, long dead, or long forgotten by the rest of the populace, but remembered by the Earth itself. Summoning up the remnants of those ancient heroes' powers that were left behind, Steiner is infused by the Earth with more energy than he possibly could ever need. Those energies, greatly enhance the already present abilities that Steiner has at his disposal. This enhancement could be either a quicker recharge time, a greater damage modifier, an increase in skill stage, or even a faster rate of fire or creation. The effects of this ability are as follows:

  • Improved Gaia Force: The massive blast that had once been in the hands of base form Steiner is now much stronger than it could have possibly been if he hadn't attained this awakening. By taking this form Steiner's own power surges, increasing the damage of the technique even further, and increasing its healing effects. Enemies now hit with Gaia Force will feel that it is force is now the equivalent of two Skill stages higher of Dou Skill instead of one, capping out at Master. Allies who are hit by this ability will also feel that the healing effect has improved and will feel that the healing would be the equivalent of a Dou Skill of one stage higher than base form. Furthermore when Steiner is damaged and put into a critical state, the cap of this skill being Master is removed. Allowing the full force of this technique to be put on display, however this comes at the cost of a cool down as it now takes two posts for Steiner to regather his energies for another use, but if in the critical it only takes one post instead.

  • Improved Gaia's Boon: Steiner's bones and skin are enhanced even further than before as the duel energies seep into every molecule of flesh and bone marrow to create a nigh indestructible form. The positive benefit of having more energy to enhance Steiner's skin and bones has increased his durability even higher. Increasing his Durability by two Skill Stages, but capping out at Master much like the original boon.

  • Improved Forging: Much like his original crafting technique, not much has been changed, except for the over all potential quality of the items that he can forge via this technique. Most of the items he now forges using this technique are of high quality and if time is allowed to focus and build the weapon properly without needing to focus on anything else, then the item being forged can become a Masterwork, or a perfect item. However if Steiner is interrupted during the forging of the Masterwork it will instead become flawed and only be able to be considered high class at best. The time necessary to create masterwork item is three posts.

  • Improved White Arrow: Not much has changed for the techniques over all use, but the energy consumption has been greatly lowered as Steiner's new form's body is much more capable of dealing with the stress provided by utilizing this massive movement increasing effect. He can also endure higher levels of speed with this form, allowing him to run at high speeds for long periods of time without damaging himself. The White Arrow technique also glows an even brighter white, almost making Steiner appear to be a streaking white comet across the sky. The speed is still similar to his Skill in Buzhou.

Demon Slayer

While Steiner was taking on this form the Earth knew what type of champion it needed, a champion who forged for the sole purpose of slaying demons, and protecting the forces of the natural world around it. By taking on this form, Steiner has become more adept at dealing with demonic attacks, and demonic magic. When fighting a demon, all demon magic is considered to be one Skill Stage lower than it is, as Steiner's body has been enhanced to slay them, and be more adept at dealing with the foul magics they play with. This is due in part to Steiner's skin being enhanced, much like his clothes and armor, but Primal energies. These energies are more adept at dealing with the magic of demons as demonic energies are almost corrupting in nature and the natural energies that Steiner wields and is enhanced by are more for purification sake. This means that when Steiner is hit by a demonic magic attack, his skin actively begins to purify the energy it is being hit by, and naturally weakens it just enough. In fact some would say this an unintended side-effect of having his skin become enhanced by the energy, but it is all too welcome.

Furthermore, when striking a demon, be it with blade, or through an explosion of energy, the power coursing through Steiner's body reduces the effectiveness for Body Manipulation or regeneration to be able to heal a wound. (50% for those who are within 2 sub-tiers of Steiner, 25 for those who are 3 sub-tiers higher than Steiner, and 75% for those who are 3 sub-tiers lower.) This is due to the natural energies being brought into play with every technique being used and with his Chi Infusion powering his weapons that he touches. These natural energies enter the wound of the demon, actively fighting its corrupted influence, and as the demon tries to heal his wound he will find that as soon as he tries to heal it, the residual energy still on the flesh will quickly reopen the wound as soon as it heals. This effect can only activate once per release and the active effect lasts for a total of three turns before the healing effects return to normal.

Even more so, Steiner grows stronger when in the presence demons, the Earth providing him with the natural tools to do battle with the threats around him, and better arm him to fight against the Primals primary enemy, Demons. This boost in power is the equivalent of adding a Skill Stage, to his Dou and Sei skills and maxes out at Master. (This boost only comes into effect when there is 100 or more NPC demons or 2 PC demons within one hundred yards of Steiner.) This feeling of power increase can be felt by Demons and if a Demon does look upon Steiner while this buff is in effect, they would see him shining like a star in the night's sky. Almost blinding them in the process.

X. Equipment

Name: Clear Spirit
Type: Other
User Type: Character Exclusive

Appearance: The Gem of Clear Spirit is a gem that is aqua blue in color. The reason for this is that it resonated strongly with the color of Steiner's spirit. Hence, for that simple enough reason, the material which compromised this gem attuned itself to that rich shade and reflected it upon it's design.

Background Info: The purpose behind this gem is to otherwise lend an extension of Steiner's heart to the world around them. After searching within his spirit, there was a desire which was found that held the ambition to connect with others. After latching on to this feeling of yearning, the Faith Stone which was created by Steiner's spirit embodied those sensations into a tangible force of power. Hence, below, you will see how this gem is used with it's abilities.

Effects: The effects that The Gem Of Clear Spirit induces is stated as below:

Holy Sight: Holy Sight is the ability which allows this gem to bridge a connection to the heart and minds of those around Steiner. Trace amounts of angelic energy are released from the gem to the vicinity around him. This can extend to a range of one thousand meters. In this vicinity, Steiner would be able to mend connections to those in the environment around him.

From there, they must accept his call and open their hearts to them in order to forge a line of communication with him. This can be established with a simple telepathic request. Once that request is done, and they accept, Steiner can then begin to open up and understand the person he bonded with them. Of course, what they open up to him will be of the characters decision, but this is meant to be a means in which to deeper understand other spirits.

Additionally, a secondary effect that this ability has is that it can detect malicious auras. That is, a will with great destructive and murderous intent would be able to be sensed. However, this doesn't equate to mind-reading or anything like that. The character in question would have to be causing a major havoc of some kind in order for it to activate.

So, for instance, Steiner could possibly awaken to a sixth sense if there was a huge force of demonic energy that was destroying and killing the lives of many innocent people. However, if a demon was in front of him, and they weren't giving off obvious signals, then this ability would be as effective. It could gauge their body language and analyze the unsteadiness of their spiritual aura to give him hints of what the character's intent may be; but it isn't definite or guaranteed to be true.

Celestial Aura: This is the second power that the Gem of Clear Spirit has. Although she does not have the ability to grant souls the power to view into the future, the next best thing that Cirno could provide was this protective energy. As, sealed within this Faith Stone is a high volume of holy energy. Enough to be comparable to 1-1 character.

Therefore, with this high potency forged is a gem which has high durability and attack power. Thus, when Steiner is marked as being within danger, this gem will activate. However, it will only do so if he is staying true to his call of heroic nature and attempting to spread light, good and righteousness in the world. If he fails to uphold that, then the gem will not activate this feature and it will let him fend for himself.

With that said, the defenses of this gem could be comparable to a master level hierro and a master level kido. So, for a point of reference, it is often used to form a type of shield around Steiner in order to shield him from higher level attacks that can even range upwards of 0 tier level. However, like any shield, it will wear down after enough abuse. Thus it isn't infinite, but it can stand a fair bit of abuse.

This shield can be used in many ways as well. It can form wisp of light that protect Steiner, or it can form spheres of light around his body that serve as barriers. It can also have projectiles forge from his body in order to dispel and shield attacks with malicious intent against Steiner. As, those akin to demon, arrancar or any being with negative energy will find the effectiveness of their attacks reduced as followed:

DEFENSE RATE

0 Tier Purification Defenses: Celestial Aura can dispel up to ten to twenty percent of a 0 tier's negative energy.

1 Tier Purification Defenses: Celestial Aura can dispel up to thirty percent of a 1 tier's negative energy.

2 Tier Purification Defenses: Celestial Aura can dispel up to forty percent of a 2 tier's negative energy.

3 Tier Purification Defenses: Celestial Aura can dispel up to eighty percent of a 3 tier's negative energy.

4 Tier Purification Defenses: Celestial Aura can dispel up to ninety percent of a 4 tier's negative energy.

5 & 6 Tier Purification Defenses: Celestial Aura can dispel up to one hundred percent of a 5 and 6 tier's negative energy

With that said, there does come a limit. And that limit comes in the form of this ability only being able to be used for two actions a post. Additionally, each energy steadily drains it's power. And, once it is drained, it will not return until it is refueled by an external source of energy or at the start of the next thread Steiner is in.
