[Closed Black World Arc Event] Ode of the Tentacles
Sun May 10, 2015 4:08 pm
"Spittin' fire like a tongue twisted dragon."
Soul Society loomed above several battle fields littering across its empty grounds. An ominous atmosphere sat heavy upon the minds of the weak, curling them into nothing more than shivering husks of what could have been brave warriors. What made them cower so viciously within the shadows? Here the brave is cowardly, the strong is weak, the compassionate; passive. Centuries had long passed since the occurrence of the trip to the other Pacific Islands. Soul Society would always change, always improve, but to come back after hundreds of years to find it- no, its twin in such a disheveled state of chaotic order might have been disturbing to an inexperienced eye. Perhaps it happened to be a chance of luck that isn't who is casting a concerned eye upon this previous home, now.
They labeled it Aundhā Duniyā.
During the debriefing. Every time this second world within itself was addressed it was called that; Aundhā Duniyā. The Vizard Corps could be seen as a rowdy bunch depending on who happened to be passing through their aftermath of 'handling' situations. Sure they weren't exactly as clean and holy and 'hi, we're super heroes that can do wrong' Soul Society grunts, but that partially could be credited to the hollows lying within them. Not to say that these people didn't care about the lives of others. Some things didn't come as easy to them as it did for others. Any type of release state could be there last what a negative, empty soul constantly lurking inside of their beings. All of their hollows had one thing in common; a thirst for opportunity. The opportunity to take control, the opportunity to kill the soul they joined with. Whatever the opportunity, it proved to add resistance on the once-shinigami's part.
Can't have your cake and eat it too. While people kept a degree of doubt around the Vizards, they didn't necessarily shun them, either. They needed them as much as they needed oxygen. Hell, the Vizards functioned as if it was the oxygen tank itself. The debriefing had made that much clear. Don't forget what organization you serve and don't forget what you're goal is. 'Speaking of which, I should get to the lower districts before someone spots me.'
Sssss-crack!
Lightning sizzling past your ears did wonders to wake you up. The late hour of the night lurked above, dragging out its time like a spider drags the body of dead bird to its nest. Strained in certain quarters, smooth in others. From a distant, the image of coruscating radiation bending through the lining of tree that separated one section of Rukongai from the other.Enhanced eyesight displayed the pastel-rose feathers of a dear companion remaining within sight of the blurb of radiation drawing attention of any sort within the darkness. Kai exhaled roughly as paused for a duration of milliseconds on the closest tree branch to gather her bearings again. Her head tilted back and forth, trying to catch the strings that was pulling her towards...Towards what?
Before someone could catch onto her trail, she and the pastel-rose falcon dissipated into the darkness once again.
"I know it's close," she hissed, her breath creating another darkened shroud of matter among other inky depths. "Shouldn't be far, now.."
What would a Colonel be doing here? In this Dark World, nonetheless? Kai had a mission. And she promised to bring back a good sample. To herself, to her research team, and to the people she unofficially works for. The amount of risks she could take were few out of many which is why she took extra precautions to ensure that she wouldn't be detected. The heavy, dulled coat hanging across her shoulders proved as evidence for such precautions.
Her jaw slammed shut at a sudden disturbance within her own fields of reiatsu. 'Another person? But where..?' A shinigami launched at her from the depth of trees engulfing her form. He snarled violently, hurling at her with his mouth agape, his eyes sunken and empty. The reaction was almost immediate. One moment, he nearly had her in grasp and the next she didn't seem to exist at all. But he was left with scorching hands; his gurgling screams told her that he might need some sake to settle that burn. Kaida growled, her form reappearing behind the male. He didn't even turn, his attention centered on his burning palms.
A leaf, glowing healthy and pure fell from its branch because of the disturbance, its descent slowed and measured.
The gleam of Zetsumetsu caught the silent gleams of the moon just as the blunt of the blade cut into the man again, and again, and again... Until he keeled over dead, his body twitching ceremoniously. Kai cast her eyes upon the stilled body, sheathed her Zanpakutō. Remorse would arrive later in a quieter setting that left one to think back on their actions. But she didn't care; her face held no realm of emotion. It was blank, stilled. Relentless. Once again, she vanished, illuminating the trees as she made her path closer to this source of energy drawing her to it.

Ugly chaos was the only way this monstrosity that threatened the very existence of the Soul Society could be described. An infectious disease that was slowly plaguing each and every inch of the land. His brothers and sisters in arms were being murdered by their other reflected selves. They were being viciously torn apart and it made him sick. The darkness was like a cancer that needed to be surgically carved from this land so that the rest could live, and in order to do that Roderich would cut down any allies reflection or face any threat for the justice the Soul Society.
Walking towards the hell at his doorstep Roderich could here the screams of citizens shinigami alike. obviously this epidemic wasn't a disease that needed to be dealt with at the source, but he did not have the strength to reach a feat as that,so as the Lieutenant of the 1st Division Roderich sent out orders to suppress and contain the damage outside of it. With the information he had he knew that if he sent anyone near the darkness they would most likely be going to their death. Giving orders he had shinigami suppressing minor reflections and evacuating citizens towards safe houses and bunkers so that the death would now be minimized. After finishing his orders Roderich began his own charge straight towards the entrance of the infection. He left behind all others so that no one would be effected by what was to come. Step by step he flashed across the land with his hands resting at his sides he air brushing through his hair and his eyes piercing through his glasses towards his goal. He wasn't fully sure if he could make a difference, but he was more than willing to try.
The clean air was soon turn foul was something he relished while he could. He knew as a warrior that putting anything less on the line than the entirety of his life that he would not come out of this without regrets or without the death of others. He realized this with experience and by the leadership of others. He passed through the perimeter of his men and as he got close reflections began to emerge to attack and kill their others. With that in mind he drew his Zanpakutō with his right hand and in a flash he carved across the chests and throat of three reflections and on the other side blood burst from them and they fell into death.
Staring at the blood which now stained his Zanpakutō he wiped it upon his coat and sheathed his Zanpakutō. He felt a small satisfaction, but soon his heart reverberated. He eyes trembled and as he inhaled the darkness he subtly began to be notched at by the darkness that was riling up inside him.
"Justice? Duty? Who the hell do you think you are you useless piece of shit?"
Roderich was startled to say the least. He knew that this darkness would attack and attempt to take him over, but he didn't know it'd be this strong. Feeling like hate, disgust, rage and evil were growing brick by brick in his heart and slowly he began drop to a knee while grasping his chest. It felt like a knife was slowly carving his heart apart. Would this be the thing that ends him? Would he die here? A silence was upon his outside, but a storm of death swelled up within him. He looked down upon the ground and was close to giving up. He had never felt emotions this strong or evil, and wasn't prepared to. Nothing seemed like it could be bright again. Staring ahead he felt like it was all for nothing, but as moments passed a light breeze stroked his back and he rose his head looking to the sky, and what he saw made him open his eyes and drop his hand to his knee. A bright and unending azure sky crashing against the flipped worlds sky with shreds of each upon either side. They were opposites, but neither was the better. Light is strength he could use to fight his own darkness. With that in mind he slammed his fist into the ground and slowly rose to his feet. Trembling as he stood to his feet his reiatsu began fluxuate and with a deep breath he let out a strong roar
" I AM THE VICE CAPTAIN OF THE 1ST DIVISION RODERICH ALSTEIN THE CRUSADERS SHIELD WHO NOT BE DEFEATED BY THIS DARKNESS!"
As his breath finished he stared forward and stood strong slowly engaging the darkness within him. He was alone and vulnerable, but if he could beat this he would be able to move forward
