[HIDDEN EXPERIENCED STORY CLASS CHARACTER] James William Caldwell {Approved 2-5}
Thu Feb 05, 2015 12:44 am
» Name: James William Caldwell
» Titles: Alias: Vector
» Age: 20
» Gender: Male
» Affiliation/Rank: Vanguard Dimir Lord of Whispers. Affiliates with Suzu-Hebi; Business partners of a sort. Mongolian goverment official.
» Appearance Description: James is no longer the hopeful boy he used to be. His white hair has grown far longer now, reaching the mid part of his back, even in the ponytail he keeps it in. His eyes have lost what little luster they may have held. His contacts, his favorite pair being of the color purple are the thin layer that separates his dark inner spirit from the onlooker. To most, his smile appears to be warm, and welcoming, but it hides a dark secret, and a pain unlike any other. He can be seen wearing the color white often, as he believes it increases his chances of starting on the right foot. That, and it matches his hair. His clothing style is unusual, but stylish regardless, and he can be seen wearing many slight variations of the same style suit. His wristpad is hidden beneath a flap in the arm of his suit, so as not to break the aesthetics. His once dark equipment has been remodeled and replaced with white, sleeker version.

» Personality:
Dark: The negative experiences of his past have left James with little in the way of optimism. Being a stark realist, and an active pessimist, James maintains a dark, sometimes hateful outlook on the world, other humans, and shinigami. He truly believes that all people are worthless, and expendable tools to advance his motives.
Manipulative: James only ever uses people. If he appears to be close friends to someone, he is not. He does not ever make true friends with humans, as he no longer trusts them. Thus, in conversation, he tends to wear a fake smile, and keep a happy tone. James rarely wastes his time on those he feels will not be useful to him.
Sociopathic: James is willing to murder innocent people to meet his own ends, and if need be, lots of innocent people. To him, the end always justifies the means, and if taking a few lives here or there for his goal is necessary, he will do exactly that.
Risk-Taker: James is prone to taking risks if and only if the payout is great. For instance, if he was on the run from the law, and his chances of survival weren’t too high, he’d be the guy that drives off the railing ‘cause there’s a better chance of survival.
Two-Faced: This is usually around humans. He will openly point out their foolishness in his mind, but simply laugh or continue conversation otherwise.
Broken: James is torn between a loving, feeling human and an emotionless sociopath, he has because of this, chosen the path of the latter, despite his clearly having feelings. His inner struggle to combat something he does not understand has led him to completely abandon and even attempt to murder (He seriously would have killed her had she not found Eva) that which causes him pain.
» Likes: Power and Wealth.
» Dislikes: Others with power and/or wealth, and other humans.

» Background:
- The Naia Saga:
This was in my old app, so TL;DR= James met a girl who he quickly became best friends with.
Prologue: A Rocky Start.
James was adopted. He never knew his real parents, and neither has he had the urge to meet them. He grew up in a suburban neighbourhood near the outskirts of Karakura with his adopted parents. It didn't bother him, as he liked the peace. He liked to think. To ponder the things of this universe. Suffice it to say that he wanted to know more about the world around him. Ever since James was little, he had an outright fascination with how things worked. His adopted parents left him alone most of the time, leaving him with ample enough time to create his blueprints. He liked taking things apart, simply just to put them back together again. He'd examine every piece carefully, and always be certain to place them back exactly where they came from. It was a natural gift.
Chapter One: The Orb.
When James was nine, he found a small orb. The orb had some cool markings on it, and it had some kind of fluid within. He would sometimes play with the orb while he thought. It helped him think. One day, while he was out looking for some spare parts to use in one of his latest inventions, he got lost and ended up deep in a woodsy forest. He looked around for a bit, trying desperately to find the way out. It was too late. He was already in too far. But suddenly, he saw something in the distance. It appeared to be some kind of person. He rubbed his eyes. He had thought he’d seen wings on this person. But that was impossible. He had to get closer, but as he approached, the figure receded. Was it trying to hide? He started running towards it, and he tripped. When he arose, the figure was gone. It had disappeared. He marked a tree by pulling off some bark in the shape of an arrow. He would return to this site some other time, so that he could find out who the figure was. James walked in the direction that the figure was in, but to no avail. He just ended up back at the suburbs. But it was fine with him, because at least he was home. James arrived back at his house before nightfall, and he began to work on a new invention. Even at age eight, James still thought a lot, still knew a lot. He reached into his jacket's pocket to retrieve his orb, only to find that his orb had vanished! What happened to it? Where had he lost it? That orb was his most prized possession and here it was missing! Wait. He remembered. The forest! The figure! He fell! It must be back there. It was a good thing he had marked that tree. He would go back the next day. It was already too late to look for it now.
Chapter Two: The Figure.
The next day, James woke up early. He went back out to the woods, to look for his orb. He found the tree, and the rock he must have slipped on, but the orb was not there. It started turning dark again, so James headed home, frustrated. He lied in his bed and examined the day he lost the orb. The tree, him slipping, and the figure. Wait. The figure MUST have the orb, that's the only logical explanation. He went back to the same spot in that forest three days in a row. Each time seeing the figure, each time just barely missing it. Every time though, he noticed, the figure had seemed to get closer to him. The third day, he returned, and the figure was extremely close to him. It was a girl, with wings. Within running distance. He took off after her this time. She was fast, bobbing and weaving around the trees with grace and ease, but James was gaining on her. Suddenly she slipped and fell, then he too fell. He caught her. She squirmed about in his arms. When he asked her about the orb, she said nothing. She didn't appear to understand. She broke free of his grasp, and ran away. James stood there. He didn't even understand what had just happened. So he stood there, and watched her disappear in the distance. James went home. Still, something about her interested him. He needed the orb back, sure, but he felt like she needed something more. A friend. James was a bit lacking in this area as, well, James had very few friends. How could he make a friend if he didn't know how to? He supposed he should take it upon himself to learn more about this girl. That was exactly what he did.
Chapter Three: The Lost Bond.
The next day, he went out to the forest, and found the girl again. This time, she was considerably further away from him. He sat still. Was she afraid of him? Did he scare her? He looked down at his hands. Did he do this? He looked back in her direction, but she was gone. James left as well. He felt strange, to say the least. A mixture of guilt and loneliness gripped his heart. Of course, he didn't understand what it was that he felt.
Chapter Four: The Orb Returns.
The next few days, when he returned to the forest, the girl was there. What was more, was that the distance between them was closing daily. James was happy. He knew that this meant that she wasn't scared anymore. Then suddenly, on the next day, he arrived, and she wasn't there. He sat on a tree stump. He wondered where the girl could have gone. As he thought, suddenly, she was there. Beside him, holding his orb. She dropped the orb in his lap. "I see you found my orb. Why'd you run away? I was just asking for it." The girl looked down at her feet. It looked as though she was straining herself to speak. "You’re scary..." She said back, avoiding eye contact with James. Did she just say scary? "Scary? Why would you think that? Because I caught you?" Suddenly she changed her voice's volume. James began to wonder if someone was listening in on them, he looked around, but no one was there. "You hurt me and chased me." she said. He hurt her? She's the one who stole his orb! He laughed a bit. "And you stole my orb, so we're even." James folded his arms. The girl began scratching away at a piece of tree trunk, it was obvious that he'd made her nervous. "I..I never stole anything. That...that thing crushed my plant." What thing? His orb? "Your... Plant? My orb crushed your plant?" James asked. She looked at his orb, then touched it. "It fell... It cr-crushed the plant I was picking b-b-but it was pretty, and dirty..." Her words became more choppy as she described the situation to him. James looked up at the girl. "You have a strange... stutter to your words." James spotted her hand touching his. "Perhaps due to prolonged physical contact?" James glanced at her wings. "Also, your wings aren't exactly commonplace. If you don't mind my asking, why do you have those?" The girl quickly removed her hand from the orb and turned to face James. It was almost as if she didn't want him to see her wings. "Why...” Her voice trailed off. “Why are you asking about my wings?" The girl asked. She had a strange look on her face, perhaps it was fear? James could not tell, but obviously she was ashamed of them. "Well, if they're a touchy subject then I suppose I won't ask. But still, they are a bit odd, to say the least. How did you get them?" he inquired. She took a moment to reply. She looked at him for a moment, then looked down. She is entirely too shy, James thought. "I don’t know how I got my wings. I just... always remember them being there, but why do you have that hair color?" She said quietly, but she seemed to be holding her composure quite well. James pinched a lock of his hair between his fingers, looked at it, then shuddered. He hated his white hair. "I... I was born with this hair colour."
Chapter Five: The Girl With No Name.
He continued to stare off at his hair. Finally, he looked back up towards the girl. "So what's your name?" The girl paused for an extremely long amount of time. It was almost as if she had forgotten her own name. Forgotten her name? Preposterous. "I-I think I am called a-a mon...ster? I’m not too sure," she said. "Since that’s what I remember." James laughed internally. This little girl? A monster? How? "You? A monster? Why would anyone think that? Your wings may not be normal, but otherwise you seem to be pretty normal. A bit on the shy side, perhaps, but I digress. Why don't we fix this name problem of yours?" The girl looked at him. Though, it would be more accurate to say she stared at him. "H-how? Wh-what do you mean? Also isn’t it more... more polite... to intro... duce yourself first?" Is she crazy? James thought. You can't be introduced if you have no name. "That's only if the person you're introducing yourself to ALSO has a name." James chuckled. "So as I said earlier, how about we fix that name problem?" James looked the girl up and down. She had to have some type of name or callsign. Finally he asked, "Do you have a last name?”. She replied with, "A family name? If that’s what you’re asking then…” She paused. “Then no." Not even a last name to start with? Just great. "Okay, no last name, no problem. We'll start with the first name. How's Lydia sound?" James liked the name Lydia. It was unique. Like, really unique. She sat there for a while, then made a face. She didn't look as though she was enjoying the thought."I... don’t... like that name. It feels too common." Too common?! Lydia was such a unique name! But James held his tongue. "Too common?" he said, holding back the urge to smack her. "Okay... What about Elizabeth?" Elizabeth was a bit common, but he thought she wouldn't mind. "Umm... I don’t like that one either, that one is also really common." she said. James didn't like it either. "Okay, no Elizabeth then." James sighed.
Chapter Six: The Water Faerie.
James paused. He looked her up and down. She was pretty. One might venture to say beautiful. Someone like her would need a pretty name. James smiled. "How about Naia?" James asked. "I never heard that name before, it sounds unique. Does it have a meaning?" The girl spoke boldly, and it surprised him, as she had been shy and distant this whole time. James looked up, desperately trying to remember the meaning of the name. Finally, he remembered. "I believe it means water faerie." He stated. "So what do we do for the last name?" Naia asked. James had an idea. She had mentioned plants before, so he simply assumed she liked them. He thought of the prettiest type of plant he could. "What's your favourite flower?" He asked. Naia appeared to think for a bit, as though she had a vast file collection of flowers in her mind. Finally, after a long bit of silence she said "I... I do enjoy roses very much why do you ask?"
Chapter Seven: The Single Red Rose.
James spotted a red rose growing from the center of the stump which they were sitting on. He plucked it from it's woodsy mantle and handed it to her. "Rosewood. Naia Rosewood." He paused. She took the rose. "Nice to meet you, Naia Rosewood. My name is James William Caldwell, you may call me James." James bowed.
Chapter Eight: The Single White Rose.
James went home later that day and fell asleep. When he awoke the next morning he noticed a plant sitting on his desk that wasn't there before. It was a single white rose. James smiled. He knew this was Naia’s doing. A simple thank you perhaps? The rose was beautiful. James inhaled it's sweet fragrance. Thank you, Madam Rosewood, James thought.
Epilogue: The Friendship Carried On / Someday.
Ever since their first conversation, James visited her every day. Naia, welcoming him with a warm smile. She also spoke more freely around him, her apparent timidity was lost after their third or fourth conversation. One day, James was invited to see her house. When they arrived, James was surprised to see a mansion with a greenhouse. Naia had a vast library within, that James could utilize if ever there was a subject he needed strengthening in. He could live here, but he much preferred the solitude and silence of his own house. He liked inventing things, and though sharing his blueprints with Naia was as much fun as inventing them, he preferred to do his inventing alone. The silence influenced his thoughts. Naia generally was silent as well, but it was a sort of... warming silence. It was a friendly and loving silence. James preferred a more... cold silence to do his work. Naia and James had a strange bond, though they were both strange people. Also, instead of weakening their bond, the silence strengthened it. Rarely was there an occasion where something wasn't happening. There wasn't much noise in the house but on the rare occasion where James’ plans had failed, there was often some type of explosion associated with it. Naia would often disappear into the forest and would drag James along with her. She would bore him to death with all her knowledge about the plants they came across.
8 years later, she still bores him to death with her ongoing lectures about plants, but James bears it though, because he knows she’s bound to run out of forest someday.
- Flash Forward:
James sat back in his chair, the echoes of the past still burning in his mind. That old house. Old and decrepit as it was, it was still home to him. That forest within which it lay. See, the thing about that was, he had always known that ... she... would run out of plants in that forest to study. Never did he think what would happen after she'd studied them all. That she would broaden her horizons. He used to think that change between them wasn't possible. He couldn't have anticipated that she would ever change so rapidly. That he would ever change so rapidly. Always for peace, that one. Always wanting to help someone... What if all he wanted was to be helped? Was that what he wanted then? No way he could know. Perhaps, in reviewing the past few years he could learn something. Where it all changed. How things ended up this way.
- Chapter 0:
James, having noticed his growing feelings for Naia, and being unwilling to take the risk of losing everything he knew, decided to leave before she had even gotten the chance to notice he had gone. He couldn't allow his feelings to grow, and if this was the result of trusting other humans, he couldn't allow himself to be weakened so. James bought himself a rather large house near the now assimilated Force Feedback headquarters and decided to devote himself to his work. This way, he could get more done.
- Chapter 1:
James, looking to take his mind from his abandonment of his long-time best friend Naia Rosewood, decided to devote his mind to his work. Taking what funds he had and purchasing a rather large house, James lived comfortably there in peace, and within walking distance of his workplace at the now assimilated Force Feedback. James renovated the internal structure of the house, and even made an addition to the house that extended nearly a mile below. A place he’d designated as “The Lab”. Two months later, almost as though celebrating the completion of James’ little top secret project, he was appointed an intern by the director of technology. A college student. James, being 18 at the time, was under the assumption that she would be older than he. So naturally, when a short 16 year old approached him, he was moderately off guard. Regardless, for a 16 year old to be put as an intern directly under the deputy director of the Force Feedback board of technology was no easy feat. James quickly scanned her over for her power level. As he scanned her, the girl turned a shade of bright red. Perhaps she thought he was checking her out? Well, at any rate, her power level was absolutely pitiful. The thought of a powerless girl who was too intelligent for her own class intrigued James. It made for easy disposal in case of failure. Opportunity favors him once again. All that would be left would be sealing the deal. James ran his eyes over her one last time, stopping at her slightly larger than average breasts. The girl, seeing his wandering eyes turned a darker shade of red, almost as though very silence of the air were adding to the effect. James smiled, and introduced himself. The girl gave herself as “Lydi-Lydia”, no doubt stuttering. James picked up on the opportunity to create an endearing nickname immediately. After the day after work, he offered to walk the intern, dubbed “Liddi” home. She did not refuse. Wonderful. Things were already set on their way. Every day after that, James offered to walk Lydia home. They spoke, and James always managed to veer the conversation toward more intellectual themes. Perhaps he could broaden his horizons through this type of foolish banter. One day, after an especially long day at work, James saw an opportunity to enter into her private sphere. He walked her home, then invited himself in. Looking around her living room, he could see several papers posted up on 4 boards all connected by pins and string. On the papers, several complex math equations were posted. The work composed was a theory on Energy, which viewed energy as a form of life, rather than life as a form of energy. The work intrigued him, so he offered to work with her on it. It may increase the efficiency of his wristpad, you see. The project took six months, and in that six months, she would always invite him in, and offer him tea, which reminded him of Naia. James’ disgust with the girl grew steadily, but they finally finished it on November 6th. James went to her house one final time. Walking over to the papers, he scanned all of them with his contacts and sent the copies to his home server. Then, paralyzing the girl using his Object Manipulation and catching the house ablaze with an Imperium, James walked away from the situation a murderer. But a murderer with a complete theory. When he arrived at home, he made the necessary tweaks to the theory that would make it functional for use in combat, but noting that he would need to escape, he quickly booked a ticket for a boat leaving the next day for Europe and bits of Central Asia. His hope was to join the ranks of shadow fall, and forget entirely about his human past.
- Chapter 2:
With his fortune from working as Deputy Director of Technology in the Force Feedback, he paid for a ticket to the mainland by boat. On the boat, he met a peculiar lady, whose interest in the sciences intrigued him. Her name was Suzu. This woman happened to be the ruler of the country of Mongolia. James, not being one to miss an opportunity, requested to become the technological advisor for the country. The woman was hesitant at first, telling him that if he wished to do anything, he would need to prove his worth. James jumped at the chance. Partially simply because he needed full diplomatic immunity for having killed (Or so he thought) another human being. Going to Shadow Fall crossed his mind, but was ultimately not pursued. They booked plane tickets for immediate departure to her home country. Suzu, upon their arrival in Mongolia offered him not only a place to stay, but a tour of their capital city. James quickly got used to his surroundings, and immediately began working on blueprints in his head to reduce energy or spirit related deaths and crime. Finally being brought to a laboratory which was far greater than even his own, he immediately designed a system, like a power grid that would boost the signal of the generators he planned to install throughout the entire country. He increased the power output of them, then the efficiency to follow. What James designed was a network of fields of energy that would fry any other forms of energy produced-- other than that within the individual, as that may be harmful. The generators provided this energy, where the hoppers, disguised as lampposts would transfer the energy further away. Thus, if you could see on the street at night (or even see the streetlamp itself, as the signal was that strong), which one now could, in every city in the entire country-- your powers could not be used there. Lady Zumizimu made quick to implement a law with regards to energy usage, and the prohibition thereof. Exceptions may be granted at request to law, and with extreme moderation/observation. Clearly, James’ outstanding technical smarts appalled Suzu, as she immediately granted him a position as the Mongolian Government’s Technical advisor. James has extensively researched his Anima Stone there, and made ample usage of the legal slavery, even taking advantage of the myriad of test subjects that had volunteered themselves up for science. Of course, he only used the live ones. James’ constant state of research and development led him to the creation of macros, spells that could be launched on mental impulse via a certain set of stages. He managed to refine his energy into a state usable for Soul Evolution, even learning up to two stages and adapting them to Macros.
- Chapter 3:
James was walking the street one night on his way home from the lab, and was approached by a woman. As she drew near, her cheeks grew flushed, and she threw herself at him. James, thinking she was drunk, carried her home with him, as he was certain she may be taken advantage of otherwise. She was a different type of intoxicated it seemed, as when James scanned her with his contacts, she read as Sueki. The near vampiric people who were supposedly extinct? Impossible. Well, to be sure, he drew some blood, and put it in a shot glass. The girl awoke, her white hair falling toward the ground as she sat up. He held the glass tight in his hand. “How long are you going to keep teasing me? I need that~! It smells so good~! So rich~! So full of darkness~!” She said with her slight french accent, glaring at the glass in his hand. It was settled. The girl was indeed Sueki. If he gave her his blood in a glass container, she may just bring it back to her superiors. James didn’t need any more people examining his blood... (OOC: -glares at suzu-) Pouring the glass down the sink, and rinsing his blood away, he turned back to the girl. Sueki require two things to survive. This, James knew. If he could offer both, he may yet acquire a powerful companion. “How badly do you want it?” He questioned, looking her robust figure over. “Bad enough~ I just want you~ I’m intoxicated by that scent~” So began a long and -ahem- prosperous companionship. The woman, named Carine Carleau, or Madame Carleau - as she instructed James to refer to her as, was roughly 300 years old. Formerly a blood stalker for the Sanguine Court, she left to follow James around on his pursuits. She had always done her job diligently, until her encounter with James. She returned to them nearly immediately to inform them of her resignation. Taking the oath that she would not take up arms against her fellows, she left with almost giddy excitement. She follows James around everywhere with her umbrella, and coats herself with Sueki Sunblock (Which they received at their doorstep in the middle of the night, and James examined in order to reproduce it.) every morning, because at night, even though she doesn’t need to, she indulges herself in James’ more physical attributes. He doesn’t mind however, as this sort of exchange to him does not require any emotions at all, and is purely for enjoyment. Still, he appreciates her company at times, and even asks for her advice in certain situations. He’s taught her everything he knows about technology, and she learned nearly immediately, probably a byproduct of having lived so long. James doesn’t go anywhere without her now. Though Sueki are nearly human, she is probably the only one that he trusts. Madame Carleau is a trusted friend of his as well as companion. One of a dying sort, as James rarely trusts anyone. She knows more about him, perhaps, than he does about himself. Though, just in case, he made her a collar, which she willingly accepted, that will kill her immediately by simulating extreme sunlight if she does indeed break his trust. She has no interest in losing her favorite source of sustenance.
And she is making clear to him that if she does, she’s already as good as dead.

» Natural Attributes:
Immense processing abilities: James has extremely fast processing abilities, and as such, his reflexes are of a heightened state, and he may react strangely in combat, in order to enact a master plan which he has formulated based on the abilities (And potential abilities) of his opponents-- even if that master plan is escape to live another day.
He can observe microexpressions to tell a person’s true intention, and may even be quoted as reading minds-- Although this is preposterous, as James is not psychic. He merely makes an educated guess based off of an observation. In the case of those with severe masks over their true emotion-- id est Suzu Hebi-- this ability to read microexpressions is rendered ultimately useless. It is this ability that makes his manipulation skills so strong. In the case of those with literal masks, this ability is also useless.
» Racial Powers:
External Anima Stone: James possesses an external Anima Stone that is now a sort of dark purple color, matching the shift in his mindset to a darker one. His stone has an affinity for manipulation of matter. This does not extend to energy, but applies to all inanimate objects, and (Only for solo story purposes, so as not to inconvenience others) characters in my own control. As a bit of background, James has quite the bit of equipment he’s invented. I’ll link to my equipment listJames’ wristpad does the majority of work with regards to his absorption of energy. James uses two separate types of energy for two separate types of skills. His energy types consist of Energy Reserves and Mana. His reserves are used for soul sorcery, and are taken from outside energy sources. His Mana or inner energy, is siphoned directly to his gloves but on a different channel than his Reserves. This is taken directly from James, and the potency of energy is what makes his anima manipulation feasible. In order to use his Mana, a small amount of his reserves must be used as a catalyst to properly control his energy. In high energy areas, his reserves refill quicker, but his mana always regenerates at a static rate.
- To My Equipment-Factor this into Grading:
Object Manipulation: As you may have noticed, James has infused the majority of his equipment with mana. How has he done this? He simply surrounds the object in question with his own mana, then, depending on the size of the object, the time it takes to “corrupt” the object in question may vary. Clearly, the larger the object, the more mana it would take to “corrupt” it, making it usable for James. If the object is too large to corrupt, James’ mana returns to him, along with an error message (Think: Download. If he tries to download a file bigger than his storage, the file won’t download, but he still keeps the space he had on his disk before.). When an object is corrupted, it may then be moved about at a very small reserve cost, as though it were a manner of sorcery. (Think: mixing lemon juice into water for lemonade.) This ability functions like Telekinesis, save for the fact that the object must first be coated in James’ mana in order to be manipulated in any manner. He cannot, however, change the temperature, state of (Solid, liquid, etc.), or relative density (Except by crumpling I suppose) of the objects in question. He may merely move them around, throw them as weapons, or bend them around stuff so as to capture. James’ mana is of a dark type, and thus, does extra damage to light based opponents upon their successful injury.
Soul Sorcery: Soul Sorcery for James, unlike with others, uses a different type of energy which comes from outward sources. He uses his Energy Reserves, which, as I said before are taken from an outside area. His spells must still have a bit of mana from James in order for him to control it (Same concept here as earlier). James can use up to Master level magic (as per the universal soul spells) due to the upgrades to his gloves. Master level spells (Manifestos count as this technically, but all may be used as they are for any level of magic. It's simply the strength of the spell that causes that much strain) James can use 2 master level spells consecutively before his energy reserves are depleted and he must rest, He can use 5 advanced level spells consecutively, 7 adept level spells, and anything less he can use up to 12 times consecutively before being exhausted. James has only the cantrips without his wristpad, and like all others, cannot use magic when his anima stone has been destroyed.
- James' Spells:
UHCM's MODIFIED Universal Anima Spells
Master Level Soul Sorcery (1 Master, 2 Advanced, 3 Adepts, 4 Beginners)
Difficulty: Any Even if the person does not have any training in Anima Sorcery, the Anima Stone can grant them these abilities naturally. These are usually referred as "Cantrips" or the "Fundamentals." (All four prime elements are accessible.)
Generally, when using a Manifesto, the Anima Sorcerer creates a magical circle to attract spiritual energy towards them while using a focusing core made from their reiatsu or their spiritual body. While the Anima Sorcery can provide the knowledge and control of the spells, the power capacity of this spell is only as strong as the sorcerer's Anima Stone. Note that Manifestos are the only spells that required a balance between two skills; Anima Sorcery and Anima Stone Strength. The many uses of it were from simple projectiles to a more intricate style of devastating power fit for a master sorcerer. When not speaking the invocation, it is at half-strength, but when invoked, it will be on par with the sorcerer's Anima Sorcery skill.
Manifesto Flamma Es: ("Manifestation of Flame") The Anima Sorcerer creates an orange magical circle. When collided, the sorcerer manipulates the spiritual energy at its molecular level to cause friction. Due to the friction, millions of molecular transfers create a combustible gas that ignites almost immediately. At the point when it is manifested, it starts out as a ball of fire in between the sorcerer's hands. Flame is considered the most devastating of the four prime Manifesto's, while it is the most uncontrollable, the sorcerer often rushed it to keep themselves from risking a backfire.
User Effect: The orange circle appears below James' feet, and follows him wherever he may walk. He claps his hands together, and sparks fly. When he opens them, a flaming ball of gas about the size of a soccer ball appears. This ball of gas may now be launched. Launching it into the sky sets off a shower of flaming orbs that are approximately the same size as the one fired, and they begin falling after one post. This spell is allocated to Macro M1, and may take anywhere between 25% to 50% of James' Reserves.
Manifesto Aeris Es: ("Manifestation of Air") The Anima Sorcerer creates a silver magical circle When converged, the sorcerer maintains the purity of the spiritual energy and keep them free roaming among the orb of magic. When manifested, the orb appears as a transparent swirl of faint misty rings. Air is the fastest, so it can be used multiple times in a row (aka in a single post,) but can deal the most unpredictable range of damage; so sometimes it hurts, some times it mildly or severely hurts if not harmless.
User Effect: James may alter the thickness of the wind based on how much damage he wishes to do, but usually forms arching blades of wind that surround a target that are only harmless if that is his intent. He may also use the force to blow back the enemy. Macro M2.
Manifesto Terra Es: ("Manifestation of Earth") The Anima Sorcerer creates a green magical circle as when converged upon the focusing core, the sorcerer compresses the spiritual energy, causing its molecular structure to bind and solidify, creating a rock-like orb in between the sorcerer's hands. Unlike the other three, the sorcerer has to repeat the invocation to make it bigger as regardless of skill, the biggest a grand master can do without invoking was the size of a soccer ball. Despite it being the slowest to use, it can provide the most quantity of advantages for expert or master tacticians when used correctly. It is the most resilient and the most stable of the four prime Manifestos.
User Effect: James does not need to use this spell due to his object manipulation. Macro M3.
Manifesto Aqua Es: ("Manifestation of Water") The Anima Sorcerer creates a blueish-purple magical circle around themselves as when converged to the focusing core, the sorcerer binds and separates them manually at a rapid rate, causing the molecular structure to destabilize and form into water. It is the most balanced and the easiest to control, but requires a new style of control to master it. At first, water seems harmless, but when wielded by an adept sorcerer, it can cut through metal with some help from a fellow sorcerer.
User Effect: This shit look like water bending. As a Master Sorcerer, James has full control over the sharpness of the water, though in combat he may use it to form an alternative form of transportation, or some splash attack style shit. He may also form a tidal wave to block fire attacks and effectively counterattack. Macro M4.
Difficulty: Beginner
Unlike the Manifestos, the Imperiums have more control and it conserves more energy than their feral counterparts. The purpose is that the Anima Sorcerer channels the specific element from an environmentally available source rather than gathering spiritual energy. While they are quite quicker and more user friendly than the Manifestos, the Imperiums lack the awesome potential, because it is entirely based on the capacity of the source; you cannot expect a massive fireball from a candle! The greatest of feats that discriminates adepts from beginners is the ability to use two different Imperiums at once. These are the variations below. Note that when attained, it does not mean the others are not available, it means that you cannot use them as effectively or as efficiently as the one chosen.
Imperium Flamma Es: ("Command of Flame") Orange Magical Circle, Devastating.
James' snaps his fingers, and a spark flies in the desired direction of what he wishes to set fire to. Upon making contact, the spark will spontaneously combust at a heat of 4000 degrees Fahrenheit, or about the heat of a blowtorch. The flames spread rapidly, so it is advised to merely dodge the spark (Which flies at 100 mph lolgoodluck) Or quickly remove the article of clothing that has been lit ablaze. (Unless you're fireproof, then don't worry xD) Macro M-1-1
Imperium Aeris Es: ("Command of Air") Silver Magical Circle, Swift.
White wind whips around James' fingertips, attaching itself like a chain to his Blades of Infinity, he may then use the blades like frickin' Kratos. If you can generate enough force to halt a master level spell, one may cut through the wind, and send the blade flying away from him in the direction it was headed at the time of cutting. They are approximately 5 meters in length, meaning they can extend a distance of 4 meters, as James must grasp it somewhere. The wind chains are solid wind, and may be used alone as dual whips. Macro M-1-2.
Imperium Terra Es: ("Command of Earth") Green Magical Circle, Enduring.
James may intensify the hardness of the earth around him to the strength of steel, then peel back a three inch thick plate of it as a shield using magic (Not literally peeling it back lmao) Macro M-1-3.
Imperium Aqua Es: ("Command of Water") Blueish-Purple, Flexible.
Why not have a water cannon? xD James' Water Imperium makes an orb of water that he rapidly generates in order to create a beam of water that he may fire off in a desired location at the pressure of a fire hose. In fact, it's how he stops most fires in Suzu's lab. Macro M-1-4.
Difficulty: Adept
This version allows the sorcerer to perform two Manifestos and reuse their products with Imperiums (which adepts can dual-cast,) to combine them into one of many super-elements commonly known as Life, Death, Nature, God, Light and Dark.
Duo-Manifesto Vita Es: ("Twin-Manifestation of Life") Using a royal purple magical circle, the sorcerer converges the energy and uses the knowledge of Imperium Aqua Es and Imperium Flamma Es to combine into the force of life that can heal and cure people who are less fortunate than the sorcerer. They can even "buff" them with additional raw power for a short time if not maintained. Prolonged exposure to it can weaken the body, so often times, both the sorcerer and the target are suggested to rest after using this technique.
User Effect: James may fire off a light purple beam for major wounds, or use it on a minor level, that fully heals the target from minor to moderate wounds. It takes two posts to heal the minor to moderate wounds, and 3-5 for more major wounds. It may increase a random power level by 50% -- eg. mental deduction, focus, pain endurance, etc. at a 25% chance of occurrence. Macro M-2-1
Duo-Manifesto Deus Es: ("Twin-Manifestation of God") Using a bronze magical circle, the sorcerer converges the energy and uses the knowledge of Imperium Flamma Es and Imperium Terra Es to combine into the force of god, capable of blessing allies with salvation (they are fully healed and sent to the sorcerer when they would be dead,) and smite foes who dare to harm the sorcerer's allies. It can only be used once per thread or the sorcerer will have to face the consequences of exploiting the Soul King's favor.
User Effect: The affected part(y/ies) acquire a vibrant glow to their skin, and will possess a bright white signet under their right eye in a line going downward over the cheek. (Does not give away position when using dark skills). Rather than being teleported directly to James, they are summoned either beside him on the ground-- but 15 feet away in case of combat, or on the ground below him if he is in the air at the time of expiry. Macro M-2-2
Duo-Manifesto Ater Es: ("Twin-Manifestation of Dark") Using a violet magical circle, the sorcerer converges the energy and uses the knowledge of Imperium Aeris Es and Imperium Aqua Es to combine into the force of darkness, capable of hiding the sorcerer and their allies while confusing foes by throwing them into the void of darkness (Void in figurative terminology, not literal terminology.) While it can be used for illusions along with Duo-Manifesto Lumen Es, this element is capable of confusing even the sorcerer if used too many times too frequently.
User Effect: James uses this spell to cloak himself even further against the stronger enemies. This spell hides all forms of energy, and forces foes to fight blindly while within the 2 mile dome that this may encompass. (They can still use their other senses, but those are easily fooled without a reference to go by--ex. Throwing a rock behind them to get them to guard their back by turning around, then going for the backstab xD) Lasts 3 posts, cooldown of 5 posts. Macro M-2-3
Difficulty: Advanced When the adepts manage to grasp the expansions of their knowledge of manifestation, they became advanced as they sought to control them!
Imperium Deus Es: ("Command of God") Bronze Magical Circle, allows Divine Intervention (only used once per ten threads, it can take the sorcerer and their allies to their respective domain while fully recovered and energized at the moment they would be killed.)
User EffectOnly ever used on all allies and James himself, it may return them to The Hebi Lab in Mongolia/ remove them from the thread at the exact moment when they might be killed. It does not effect the time stream, as it merely re-positions the affected party just before the final blow is struck. I will mark the thread it is used in, and keep a tracker of every thread afterwards here, in spoilers. Macro M-3-1
Imperium Ater Es: ("Command of Dark") Violet Magical Circle, allows Moonlight (temporarily turns day to night for five posts cooldown of 3 posts)
User Effect: The magic circle appears at James' fingertips, as it does in my profile pic, and then the color of the sky darkens in ribbons falling in every direction from the center, changing day into night temporarily. The change back to daylight is so instantaneous, it may be considered comical. No time is elapsed to bring about this change. Macro M-3-2
Difficulty: Master Upon mastering the methods of controlling their elements, they transcend from manifesting and commanding the elements, they sought to find a way to make something that is a part of themselves as they ventured to be "One with the Spirits."
Pennipes Mentis Et Corporis Es: ("Swiftness of Mind and Body") Only used once per battle, the spell can enhance the focus and pain tolerance of the sorcerer or the ally of the sorcerer by one rank if not invoked, but two ranks when invoked. Master rank is the maximum that the sorcerer can go. It can last ultimately throughout the battle, but overtime, it will drain the sorcerer of their strength, so the higher the tier (5-6 posts,) the longer it will last, but has to shut it down before they run out or the sorcerer's strength will be temporarily reduced to the level of a normal human while temporarily severed of spiritual ability for the exact amount of posts that was used to maintain the spell. Only Willpower/Determination can extend this spell's duration.
User Effect:A gust of black wind swirls in a spiral of ribbons around James as he casts the spell, leaving a glowing purple signet on the left side of the face, beneath the eye of those affected when finished. (A line, like James' in my profile pic's). Macro M-4.
Soul Dash: Uses Reserves - James has fairly moderate control over soul dashing, being able to at least keep up with a Shinigami’s shunpo, but he can only move so quickly for short bursts before his reserves run out and he must collect more. [Can soul dash around in full combat for 5 posts maximum before too tired continue battle.] James can soul dash only once without his wristpad before becoming tired.
Soul Detection: Uses a medium amount of mana for James to focus, but only when his contacts are not on him. James has the ability to use soul detection on minor levels without his contacts, seeing figures that look just a tad different is about the extent of his capability without them. With them, however, he can see spirits clearly, and accurately gauge their power level in tiers, and even how much energy they give off. Thanks to Lady Hebi, he may now recognize several different levels of energy, and may thus accurately classify other's energy signatures into a list of applicable species. The list is displayed beside their figure.
» Evolution Powers:
These are the general buffs James gets when in soul evolution form. He may use regular spells and all things listed above without his wristpad (In this form), using only his anima stone.
Darkness of the Mind: Spells related to darkness increase in strength slightly.
Increases mana usable by 50%, as James’ mind becomes more in tune with his anima stone.
Darkness of the Heart: A shroud of darkness increases James’ healing capabilities slightly when resting in the shade/darkness.
Darkness of the Soul: Anima Manipulation now converts all objects into a thick miasma of semi-solid poison vapor. The object will burst upon impact, making a static sphere as large as the object was in diameter. When breathing the miasma within this sphere speed is severely limited (By all who enter, thus, throwing James in his own bubble is a simple method of sabotage) for 3 posts. However, it costs more mana per object converted. (If the objects are smaller than the creature within, it will have no effect. Naturally, if you’re throwing a small knife to capture someone who’s approximately 75/1 compared to it... their speed will not be limited.)
Vulnerable to Light: This doesn’t necessarily mean he can’t see in bright areas or anything, it merely means James is now actually physically more vulnerable to light based attacks. Most of his abilities below can be countered if not halted entirely using light based attacks.
Ironically, Strong Against Light: This refers to characters of a light type, ones that use light based attacks and such. While his attacks are easily countered by light, when he lands his blows, they are significantly stronger than normally landed blows to light type characters.

» Soul State Evolution Stage 1 Appearance: A figure clothed in dark cloathing with spikes about the shoulder, jutting forward from the knee, and the knuckles of the fist. The spikes are about the thickness of a pencil at their root, and are about 9 cm in length. James’ face is no longer visible, and his long hair falls from it’s ponytail down to his back, though now it is the color of night. He wears a mask now, that looks something like a cross between a gas mask and night vision goggles. It molds into his hair, leaving no evidence that the mask may be removable. It takes one post to set the macro for this form, during which time, his programming may be halted. A shadowy aura follows him around like a stink cloud for the duration of this transformation.
» Soul State Evolution Stage 1 Abilities:
Tendrils of Darkness: Sprouting from James’ back are 6 black tendrils whose length and thickness vary as they become gradually thinner and thus easier to break the farther the target is from James. The maximum length they may reach is 20 meters. They may turn around corners and dig under objects, as well as grasp and hold (From as close as 5 feet away) with a force that will be near impossible for anyone 3 tiers or more below him to escape (They can hack through it, although that may take a while, unless they have light related weapons). From the maximum 20 meters, an opponent three tiers below may feel moderate discomfort, as though being held firmly by a crazed stalker. They are essentially James’ preferred weapon in this state. Those closer to his tier or higher, from 20 meters away could snap his tendrils like twigs. Literally. With the same force required to snap a twig. Those closer to James in tier, however, would be able to break free with a tad of struggle from 5 feet away. They are made of sheer dark Mana, which James has an abundance of in this form (See: Evolution Powers). However, if his mana were to be depleted, his tendrils would become gradually weaker and weaker, eventually dissipating should he run out entirely. Because of this, when they are moved or swung it uses a small amount of mana to keep them in their form.
Shadow Dash: An evolved form of James’ soul dash, which uses shadows, much like the demon’s Shadow Movement, to dematerialize and simultaneously rematerialize James in another location. In dark areas, James is shrouded in a visible (By those with a good eye) shadowy mist, and moves at the same speed as his normal soul dash, but for half the cost of soul dashing. Meaning if sustained, he can effectively Shadow Dash for twice as long as he can soul dash. Unless the opponent can attack a broad amount of molecules simultaneously, James is invulnerable to damage in this state, likewise, unless he can mount an attack using scattered molecules (Which he can’t, jeez guys) he cannot cause damage in this state. Stepping into (Or being forced into) bright areas where few or no large shadows are cast makes this ability unable to be used.
Assimilation of a Tendril: James can combine up to two of his tendrils at a time with up to two limbs of his choice (This may also include his mana infused swords, if they are in use). This assimilation increases the strength, and speed of whatever limb it is attached to by two times the original value. (Two legs = faster running + harder kicks, Two Arms = Faster punches/sword swings + harder punches) However, it drains mana at a steady rate and James can only use it for 5 posts before becoming exhausted. Cooldown time of 3 posts. Essentially, temporary strength and speed boost. Light based beam attacks can be defended but only at the cost of the tendril itself. If the blast is far stronger than the tendril can block, he may take physical damage from said attack.
» Soul State Evolution Stage 2 Appearance: James’ black hair falls longer, leaving a wispy trail that is technically intangible (His hair will often fall through the floor if he is standing on an incline) It now spikes outward, and curls around his body. It may be moved like a tendril. (See: Vindictus’ dark knight, transformation 2) It takes two posts to set the macro for this form. during which time he may be interrupted. (His macros work like uploads, where the loading bar is the time it takes to load the skill. During which time, James cannot use mana or SF, and can be halted with the destruction of his wristpad. In this form, James is far less likely to strategize, and far more likely to follow instinct. The darkness consumes his mind entirely.
- sorta modeled after this:
- Two Stanza Invocation Poem:
The cold and dark wind/ May it ever steel my blade/ Darkness take my foe.
If ever I’ve lived/ Life does not hold it’s meaning/ I bring naught but death.
No one shall escape/ No stone shall be left unturned/ Darkness take my foe.
Who shall oppose me/ I that end life so swiftly/ I bring naught but death.
Darkness is my friend/ And my greatest enemy/ Darkness take my foe.
I shall not waver/ I will never hesitate/ I bring naught but death.
Should chance aid my strikes/ Steady my blade to end him/ Darkness take my foe.
» Soul State Evolution Stage 2 Abilities:
Tendrils of Darkness ver. 2: James 6 tendrils are now sharp on the inside edge, making them like blades of darkness which leave the same vapid miasma as his Anima Manipulated objects do (Except they decrease movement speed slightly in area affected/cut). The darkness will spread like a parasite, severely limiting the healing powers of any area of the body that is affected. Spreading downward slowly on limbs, a cut on the hand would be less dangerous than a cut on the upper thigh, as it would limit the speed of that entire lower part of the leg until countered or removed. It can be countered with pure sunlight, or light type spells pure sunlight will also cause this passive effect to dissipate. Being grasped by these isnot an optionshould not be an option* for those 3 tiers or more below him, from any distance.
Shadow Dash ver. 2: The darkness in James’ heart consumes him, thus forcing him deeper into the shadows. James may now shadow dash at a quicker rate, and for only a quarter of the cost of a regular soul dash. James can now effectively shadow dash for 3x the amount of posts as regular soul dash before becoming winded. Same defects involved.
Tendril Assimilation upgrade: James can now assimilate all four of his tendrils for the same cost as the two in transformation one, effectively increasing his speed and strength, for 5 posts before he becomes winded. In this state, his remaining two tendrils may still be used.
Scythe of the Dark Reaper: James may summon a scythe made entirely of dark energy in areas of darkness. “Load Macro; Scythe of the Dark Reaper.” causes the scythe to form. The scythe feeds on the surrounding darkness, and cannot be generated in light areas. It is strongest in total darkness. It is James’ equivalent of a Zanpakutō, and is only available to be summoned in this state. James may equip his wind chains spell (Whichever one that was xD) to it, in order to increase it’s range, but it dissipates only in sunlight, so artificial light, or lights caused by abilities will only count as an attack would to a Zanpakutō (Aka doing some damage, but not just flat out breaking the damn thing).
Natural Speed Increase: James speed increases to, on average, 50 mph sprinting. However, due to being completely un-used to moving at such speeds, his accuracy while moving drops significantly. This is ironically not a present side effect when soul dashing.
Cloak of Shadows: (An ability, not his old cloak) James may transfigure his body into a wispy mist of darkness. In this form he may still be struck by energy/magical attacks (With light related attacks working more effectively), but is much harder to detect in dark environments with the naked eye. If the opponent in question has a particularly astute eye, or can see spirit energy, he is almost entirely visible, as only small parts of his energy are masked. This form may be maintained for only 2 posts, though it uses no notable amounts of mana. And though he does not feel exhausted upon its expiry, he still must wait another 3-4 posts to use it again.
- To Be Reviewed- WIP:
» Soul State Evolution Stage 3 Appearance: Macro not studied yet. Further research required.
» Soul State Evolution Stage 3 Abilities: (Optional. Leave blank if you do not want powers.)_____________________________
- Average Resting Rates:
Mana Exhaustion: When James exhausts his mana, it usually takes another 3-5 resting posts to transfer the necessary amount from his reserves.
Mana Reserve Exhaustion: When James exhausts even his reserves, either through transfer or sorcery, it takes 3-7 posts to recharge fully, depending on the quality of energy in the air.
Physical Exhaustion: (Not health but actually being tired from fighting or something) 3 posts resting.
The wristpad utilizes Lydia’s theory to the fullest when James is in soul evolution state, and thus his resting rates always remain the same, even though there is more energy to regain. And because James cannot use SE without the wristpad, regardless, his resting rates will always remain the same xD
