• Name: Mirai Shijima
• True Age: 491
• Appearance Age: 20
• Gender: Male
• Orientation: Shadow Fall
D.O.B.: February 3rd, 1923
Zodiac: Aquarius
• Appearance: Mirai is a tall, scrawny boy with little definition on his body. With few muscles and a very “lacking” physique in appearance many belittle him from the get go. He has shaggy mid-neck length black hair and VERY pale skin. He wears an eye-patch on his eye to hide his faulty eye underneath, fearful from any further discrimination in a fight. Long slender fingers adorn strong worn hands and its odd. Many can tell he’s been through years upon years of training, however his face remains “untouched” and totally “perfect”. Underneath his eye patch is a fake eye, green in color but made of glass. His real eye however is a bright crimson red. Majority of the time his face is straight or “pouty”
• Bone Appearance: Upon the top of his head, Mirais hollow bone sits. It is in the shape of a bird skull, perched up as to cast an odd shadow down the center of his face. Three separate bones adorn the back of the bird skull shaped hollow mask. The smallest of the three protruding bones, is actually a bone in Marais neck, long enough to stick out and above the mask. The mask is very small in size until fighting begins in which it grows a tiny bit with the more energy he uses and with the closer he gets to unsealing his Zanpakutō.
• Hollow Hole: mid spine/diaphragm
• Reiatsu Colour: dark blue/purple
Personality: Mirai is very monotone and quiet individual with incredibly childlike tendencies. He's known to get distracted rather easily but in terms of a fight, he's able to stay incredibly focused. His serious upright nature make him a bit of a drag to the other Arrancar, and it doesn't help that he's such a low ranking. He tends to keep to himself, and spends his time training, and trying to improve his low ranking.
Mirai is a very power hungry individual, determined and intent on proving himself to his race, through whatever ruthless means that are necessary.
Its not hard to catch his eye, and if you do so, Mirai is more than likely to give you a small smile, a chuckle and then attempt an actual conversation with you.Despite his good leadership skills he prefers to be alone and do things totally on his own. His determination shows through in his fighting, which he takes very seriously even sometimes manipulating people into fighting him, just to test himself, and them. He is not very manipulative, seeing no point and instead chooses to be incredibly brutally honest with those around him. He doesn’t enjoy the ideal of “friends” but doesn’t mind having any. Over all, he keeps his distance, keeps his mouth shut, but his eyes) and ears open, learning and absorbing any and all information he can .
• History: In life, Mirai was brilliant. Born in 1923, he grew up at the end of the Taisho period in Japan. With the shift of political powers and the need for brilliant minds to reach and fill their full potential, he was sent off from his home at an extremely early age, so early he had little to no recollection of his parents at all by the age of thirteen. Eventually his genius mind went elsewhere, and he began focusing his interests in serving his country. By age nineteen he’d taken a nice comfy seat in Japans military, helping with inventions to better national security. A family man he had a wife...a woman with long blond hair, an American woman whom had visited Japan but wound up staying there with him and marrying him. The two fell in love at a club which Mirai played at to bring in some extra cash every now and then. She had told him… “Your gift to play music...must have been a blessing from God himself…”
The attempt to have children was a constant effort, but with failure after failure, Mirai began to lose hope, and threw himself into his work, branching off to the science side of the military, assisting with new war strategy based technology. Eventually, Mirai fell ill due to overexposure of a chemical that was later found to have toxic levels of radiation. He fought long and as hard as he could and would often play his instrument for his wife...as to not let her be so sad due to his illness. After months of pushing and trying, eventually, he began to feel better… indulging his wife the two tried one last time, and with plenty of prayer, a child was in fact on the way...weeks after the announcement, Mirai found himself bed ridden once more..this time, too crippled to even keep himself alive. His wife, so grief stricken, lost herself. He passed at the age of twenty four.
After his death...Mirai was to stricken with anger and fear for his wife...and quickly became a Hollow…. He crossed into Hueco Mundo and remained there...even just as a simple Hollow...he kept himself isolated...confronting the feelings he had left himself with...eventually, remembering who he was became a long forgotten task. He then began to focus solely on the emotions raging inside him and with one swift hateful moment of anger, he removed his mask and became an Arrancar. He now “serves” under Nemain, training under her to improve his techniques and become more powerful.
• Sealed Zanpakutô: Mirais sealed sword is a hatchet that rests on his belt until needed. The weapon itself is glossy black in color and looks to be rather fragile.
• Racial Abilities:
Bala (虚弾 (バラ), Bara; Spanish for "Bullet," Japanese for "Hollow Bullet"): a technique of firing hardened spiritual pressure against his enemies. Less powerful than a Cero, but it can be successively fired at 20 times the rate.
Cero (虚閃 (セロ), Sero; Spanish for "Zero," Japanese for "Hollow Flash," "Doom Blast" in the Viz translation): a powerful spiritual light fired by Menos Grandes and Arrancar.
Garganta (黒腔 (ガルガンタ), Garuganta; Spanish for "Throat", Japanese for "Black Cavity"): is how Arrancar and Hollows are able to move in and out from Hueco Mundo. It is a spiritual pathway connecting the Arrancar's world, Hueco Mundo, to other worlds. Besides the World of the Living and the Soul Society, it can also open the gates of the Dangai and K-World. A turbulence of Reishi blows within Garganta. To move through it, travellers must create footholds using the Reishi.
Hierro (鋼皮 (イエロ), Iero; Spanish for "Iron," Japanese for "Steel Skin"): An Arrancar's outer skin with high spiritual hardness that serves as armor.
Pesquisa (探査回路 (ペスキサ), Pesukisa; Spanish for "Inquiry," Japanese for "Probe Circuit"): An Arrancar ability to measure and locate spiritual pressure.
Sonído (響転 (ソニード), Sonīdo; Spanish for "Sound," Japanese for "Sound Ceremony") The Arrancar equivalent to a Shinigami's Shunpo.
• Unique Abilities:
Kaibutsu: Monster Simply, this ability makes Mirai a violent angry warrior. Kaibutsu is used before he ever goes near his sword. This ability strengthens his hand to hand combat skills by five times the original amount. However its only temporary so getting as many hits as possible is necessary for this ability to be meaningful. The "rage" typically lasts for about 3 posts and leaves Mirai feeling a bit loopy and unable to put a filter on his mouth, brutal and often harsh unneeded honesty being what comes out in those particular moments.
Senken no mei(繊研ません梅): Prophecy This ability tied in with Pesquise, using this combined with his quick thinking, Mirai is able to calculate a percentage and a short basic attack list. The percentage is the chance of winning, and the basic attack list is for him to take a mental note for moves to counter his oponents. He judges all of his readings purely on the reading of spirit energy/pressure. Opponents whom are able to work past this ability immediately have an advantage early fight.
• Resurrección Name: Kofu Hokai
• Resurrección Release Phrase: "Fly, Kofu Hokai"
• Release Actions: Mirai will simply run his hand over the blade, unsealing his Resurrección form.
• Resurrección Appearance:
Mirais Resurrección state works in stages depending on how much he loses himself in the fight. With the more power he releases, the more violent and “disgusting” his form becomes. Stage one is simple. His mask grows in size, the jaw bone attaches itself to the skull. More teeth grow in on the top and bottom of the skull. The spikes on his spine grow in length, his wings make themselves known, and his tail does as well. Stage two, the skull grows even more, more teeth, and everything becomes bigger, seeming to engulf him. the skull covers nearly all of his face. Stage three, the final and most powerful state of his Resurrección, Mirai has nearly lost himself completely. he does not stand, but is hunched over, lengthened arms holding his body up, massive wings constructed from bone, also assist in this, spikes and tail growing even MORE in length, black feathers appearing on his body. At this stage he looks more animal like than anything, and is at his most aggressive.
• Resurrección Abilities:
Furui(貞煕): Ancient Art I Style one of three. Once his Resurrección form has been brought out, he’s able to bend and contort himself to use complicated and advanced fighting techniques and stances. Its more about quick footwork and speed in style one. Mirai hardly uses his sword in this style, again, because its a fighting technique. This ability is engaged when Mirai stand, with one fist outstretched, the other held in front of his stomach, legs spread a ways apart, with his torso tilting back.
Yasei(八瀬): Ancient Art II Style two of three. This fighting style in engaged when Mirai crouches, able to launch himself forward towards his opponent, sword swinging at incredible speeds. Despite the slight speed gain, this style focuses on just using blunt and brute force. Often, he will launch himself and attempt to break bones using the dull side of his blade, often ending strikes with a swift uppercut or punch straight to his enemies face, or jaw. His tail is also a very helpful aly with this style, helping him to dodge or block an opponent's attack.
Kōhai no hakai(何破戒を後輩ん): Ancient Art III(final) Style Three of Three. This stance is taken in a slight crouch, except Mirai has found his knuckles touching the floor, and his final stage of his Resurrección, engaged. In this stage, Mirai fights with reckless but well trained abandon, swinging his sword in what appears to be random patterns. In reality he is using all of his learned sword styles, which is the reason it looks so sloppy. At this point, he is at the peak of his speed, strength, and strategy abilities, often he can read an enemy's muscle movements to gain a basic prediction of what their next movement might be. this however has a 60% success rate and doesn't work all the time. This style focuses simply on dodging and speed for the most part. This particular ability is rarely used in a fight though, and when it is, it lasts for 1-2 posts, so never too long.
