Sonia Bond [APPROVED 2-1+]
Wed Jun 25, 2014 2:24 am
- Name: Sonia Bond
- Height: 5'6”
- Weight: 123 lbs.
- Titles: N/A
- Gender: Female
- Age: 19
- Bloodline: N/A
- Affiliation/Rank: N/A
- Appearance Age: 19
Likes: Sex, Ramen, Women, Dozing, Napping, Sleeping, A nice beer or sake, Smoking cigarettes/marijuana.
Dislikes: Racism, Sexism, Preachy people, Being woken up before she's ready, Cruelty towards animals (especially cats, she will DESTROY you).
Positive Traits: Dedicated to her training, Almost incapable of being goaded, Fiercely loyal to those she cares about, Never quits unless her life is on the line, Insanely talented in all that she aspires to.
Negative Traits: Slightly perverted, Excessive laziness, Acts later if the timing suits her, Extremely laid back usually regardless of the situation, Dedicated only to her family and friends, everyone else can take a back seat, Not very emotive therefore almost never raises her voice and hardly laughs and more chuckles or gives a crooked smile.
Appearance Description: Golden blond hair falls down to her shoulder blades and baby blue eyes almost seem to glow with intensity, as if she's staring into one's soul. Her skin is pale and burns easily, which is why she avoids beaches and other such activities. While she has a mixed heritage (Japanese-American/German), Sonia tends to be more like her mother in terms of looks, while she more inherits her father's stature and stern features. Overall Sonia isn't really all that concerned with her looks. She's pretty slack with it comes to makeup and would rather spend her time doing something productive than sitting in front of a mirror for hours applying eye shadow or...whatever.
Though, standing at five feet six inches and one hundred and twenty three pounds, Sonia doesn't cut an impressive figure to look at from an intimidating standpoint. Clothes off, however, and one could see how well training in the various forms of martial arts, yoga and dancing did for her. Her deceptively compact figure is shapely, toned, and lithe as a blade from years following her instructor’s training. In short, slender but very powerful. While not concerned with her looks she is rather vain about her body's overall appearance, especially her stomach, which is tight, flat and in a six pack. She likes that her body isn't your stereotypical feminine body but more along the lines of a female Bruce Lee, a martial artist she admires greatly.
Tattoos: Sonia only has one and she's rather proud of it. It's a phoenix, colored red, orange and gold. From what Sonia was told, the small bottle that contained the liquid for her special tattoo held a trillion tiny little microscopic holographic projectors suspended in a neutral medium. Each projector was color-coded via the needle interface as it was injected, a neat little technology that artist had invented. The projectors sent their individual little images through the lower layer of the skin and formed the image one infinitesimal dot at a time. The final product looked like it was hovering just a millimeter below the surface. The phoenix sweeps from Sonia's shoulder to down her back, its tail began as the form reached the lower curve of her spine, several long and delicate feathers spreading on each side to the outer curve of her hips. The tattoo moves with Sonia and seems alive, it’s soft glow sometimes illuminating through lighter clothes.
Vocabulary and Speaking: Being from New Orleans and spending a lot more time among the populace than the rest of her family, Sonia’s accent is thick, like her father’s, but her use of slang in conversations dominates her everyday vocabulary. There was a slight fear with her parents that their daughter’s eccentric language might make them appear bad in public, especially if they were at an important event for their company. They, however, did not let that fear get the better of them an instead decided that anyone who didn’t approve of their only child in any form was not someone that they wanted to do business with anyways and laid those fears to rest after talking it out. The same could not be said for Sonia’s Grandmother, Lily, who was Sonia’s teacher in the ways of the Quincy. She would absolutely not deal with Sonia’s slang and constant swearing for any reason and decided to put an end to it…somewhat. While uncaring of hos Sonia conducted herself outside when she was on her own, she told her Granddaughter that while in her presence, and in the presence of her parents, she would use proper English and any slip back into her ‘Sailor talk’ would result in a severe lash to her knuckles. So Sonia spent more time with her Grandmother learning to slow her speak, enunciate correctly and properly so as to not sound like ‘an absolute hooligan’ while representing her parents at important events. Even so, Sonia still slips now and again, her habit of ending sentences with ‘savvy?’ or ‘dong ma?’ and combining words that shouldn’t be combined coming to the forefront when talking about something she feels strongly about, or when she’s simply talking a bit too fast. She still can’t really smooth out her thick New Orleans accent, however, but in truth she hasn’t really tried. But she can switch between her slang filled banter and proper tone flawlessly depending on the situation she’s in.

Personality: Sonia is probably the most laid back person you'll ever meet. She takes life one day at a time and doesn't sweat the small stuff. Of course this gives her the appearance of someone that doesn't care but in reality Sonia likes coasting through life and taking whatever comes her way on her own time and in her own fashion. She doesn't like being weak and it does bother her when others show off weaknesses of their own. This has to do with her upbringing by her Grandmother, who believes that Sonia is destined for great things and wanted to teach her Granddaughter how to be strong in the only way she knew how.
Sonia doesn't raise her voice and talks in a cool, calm fashion that fits her New Orleans accent well. It does surprise most when they hear her speak considering how impeccably she normally dresses, though most get by it when they see how easy Sonia is to talk to or witness one of her dashing smiles. Her mother and father are in business together in the fashion industry and Sonia seemed to get the best of both worlds; charm, good looks and the ability to make the people she talks to swoon. However, Sonia doesn't really take advantage of those features. Sure, she learned them because it would please her parents. But for Sonia, nothing beats out her training with her Grandmother, who impresses on her only Granddaughter just how important her training is.
To Sonia, feeling special has nothing to do with her looks, class or money. It has to do with her being a Quincy. Her Grandmother only briefly explained that her training would be harder thanks to her mixed heritage, a topic Sonia only briefly wondered about before dismissing it as something they could discuss later. Sonia is a master at wearing masks and puts those up only when she feels the necessity to do so. But when she's training by herself or with her Grandmother, she feels more like herself than she does in any other aspect of her daily life. And while she knows her mission to protect the world of Humans from Hollows and other such threats, Sonia feels that her first mission would be to herself, and to feel more comfortable being and accepting who she is before she can protect those around her.

Background: Her Grandmother always used to say that foresight was one of the most important abilities that the Bond family had ever learned.
Generations ago Sonia's family escaped the massacre brought down upon them by the Shinigami on what most would call a hunch, and yet others would call cowardice. But Sonia's Grandmother, Lily, would always tell the good and bad of any given situation. She didn't leave out the grimy, unsettling details because it made her or her family look bad, oh no. She wanted Sonia to learn a skill that she deemed more important than any others; to look at both sides of any given conflict and empathize. To know motivations and understand, because with understanding comes better knowledge in bringing down any given foe.
Lilly told Sonia of Gestaph, a man with much conviction and pride as any other Quincy, begging any of those that would listen of the impending conflict and doom their actions were bringing those around them. Their methods were tipping the balance, and the Shinigami had warned them. And while their truce had worked for a time, that 'Quincy Pride', reared the ugly side of its head, with most of the Quincy believing that the Shinigami simply were not doing a good enough job. Gestaph was one of the few that knew they were heading in the wrong direction and begged the Elders to stop. When his cries went unheeded, he simply took his family and fled.
They ended up in America where it was relatively quiet. Any Hollow that made their way to the area they'd settled (New Orleans) was quickly dispatched by the Bond family, though Hollow attacks were so few and far between it was hardly relevant in the grand scheme of things, even in the spiritually awakened world they lived in. Instead the family decided that the next best thing for them to do was establish their new life and find something to do that would make themselves a better part of the community. And so, Sonia's Great-great grandparents became farmers, something they did until the day they died. They only had one daughter, Lily, who was trained in the ways of the Quincy by her parents.
Lily was more ambitious that her parents, who never begrudged the fact that their daughter had grander visions of her life than living on a farm, just as Lily never took for granted the morals and skills she needed to make it in the world. She was a hard worker, dedicated and strong. She went to school and pioneered her way through higher education doing what she loved; clothes. Lily had been taking to fashion ever since she was a small girl and had never lost sight of that goal. She went on to be a very sought after adviser to more and more people, even celebrities seeking her for her unique and flattering designs.
It was on a trip to Japan that she met a man by the name of Bakin Akito, a slick young man with an eye for talent and a hunger to make it in the fashion industry as his mother before him. A single, Bakin would tell people years later that he almost instantly fell in love with Lily on sight and would try for the entire week she was in Japan to simply get her name. She eventually gave in, though it was on her last day in Japan and she figured it would make him happy. Little did she know just how determined he was, though she soon found out when Bakin showed up on her doorstep a month later with tickets in his hand to see her exhibition later on that evening.
Bakin sadly passed away almost fifty years later, though his life was full and rich. He only had awe for the family he had married into when he was told and shown about the Quincy heritage and took their secret to the grave with him. They bore one son, Akira Bond (Bakin having taken his wife's last name after realizing just how important her name was to her), who took after his mother in just about all manners, including what was now the family business. Bond Industries had taken off under the guidance of Lily and Bakin, with Akira growing up in the business and having a passion for it. He also learned of his legacy as a Quincy and embraced it with the same passion as his love for his family's business.
Akira never thought he'd have time for a family, despite his mother and father's hints and pushes in that general direction. He believed he would never have time as he was always so busy but, alas, life is what happens when you're looking the other way. Gwendoline Royce was an aspiring model that took Akira completely off guard in all aspects of her personality. Akira had been around models his whole life but none were as brash, rough and tough as Gwendoline Royce. Her no-nonsense attitude and rough speech (when she wasn't acting for the cameras) immediately caught Akira's attention. And while Gwendoline only agreed to date him because of his connections and his status under his mother, she would later come to love everything about Akira. Their union was a powerhouse for the family and the business, with Akira taking over for his parents and his wife becoming the face of the industry.
Gwendoline took the Quincy Legacy in stride, though a part of her never quite believed it. It seemed like a fairy tale to her, even when shown proof by Akira and Lily. She knew it was a coping mechanism, one used to deal with information that was far too grand for her brain to assimilate. But in truth she was scared, scared because she knew the life she had growing inside of her would be a part of that world whether she wanted it or not, a world that was so much different than it was even ten years ago. Akira and Lily were strong people with intense personalities. And while Akira would move Heaven and Earth for his wife, the only time he was stern with her to the point of boiling anger was when she asked him not to teach their child the Quincy Ways. After that she knew just how important to not only Akira, but Lily as well.
Sonia Bond was born January 1st and was, according to the doctors, an extremely quiet baby. She hardly cried, her eyes were inquisitive and took in her surroundings with much interest. Through most of her childhood that was the one thing most people commented on; just how quiet she was. Akira was never a quiet child, something that Lily pointed out every time she got the chance, and Gwendoline's own parents would claim that their daughter was just the roughest, meanest tomboy you could ever hope to have. Sonia hardly ever cried and hardly ever spoke above a whisper until she was older and more in control of her voice. Even then, her tone was calm, even. Akira would often joke that she sounded more like an adult than most adults, though Gwendoline would often agree.
Her training started when she was five, but only on the insistence of her Grandmother. Akira thought that any form of training could wait until she was at least ten, but Lily convinced her son with a vision; she told him of dark skies and hellfire brimming up from cracks in the Earth. She told him of violent weather and the souls of the living being torn asunder as if they never existed. And while Akira thought that sounded like madness he could only agree, as his mother had never lead him wrong before and her advice was always sound.
Sonia took to her Quincy training like she took to anything else in her life; with ease and much dedication and intensity. As she grew older and the teachings of her Grandmother became more violent and complex, Sonia took it all in stride. She was never angry with her Grandmother when she was hurt and never cried when she couldn't get a technique down just right. While her Grandmother wanted her to perfect everything that was thrown at her, Sonia knew such a thing was impossible and would instead strive to please her Grandmother, then move on.
If she wanted perfection, Sonia would achieve it on her own time.
She was the type of girl that most other girls hated; beautiful, wealthy and attracted a lot of attention. Bond Industries, by this point, had branched out into the world of business and handled a lot more than just the fashion world. Everything from technology to cars, Bond Industries was a household name and Sonia was next in line to take over the business. But as she grew older her parents began to realize that perhaps their daughter wasn't the best to take over. While her studies never faltered, her attitude and outlook on life made them think she simply didn't care.
And, in a way, she didn't.
But Sonia would do anything for her family, and regardless of who they chose to take over the business Sonia wouldn't mind. In truth the blond was very much bored with everyday life and even the occasional Hollow attack did nothing for her past the first few dozen times any actually showed up, nor when their numbers began to increase by an alarming amount. She hardly even had to lift a finger, what with her Grandmother being exceptionally talented and her father able to shoot his bow from over a mile away with concentrated arrows that could tear several Hollows to pieces...and that was just by grazing them. But after she few times she'd taken them down with her simple little spirit bow she'd lost all luster for the fight.
Even her accomplishments in her training didn't do much for her. She kept training because she was dedicated to being strong like her Grandmother and father, but even that started to become more of a chore every day. Any of the training she did under other instructors, from martial arts to yoga to acrobatics were mundane. Which left her with an unfamiliar feeling; frustration. It was during this period of her life that her mother suggested that Sonia use all that charm and wit to go find herself a nice young man, someone she could spend time with. Maybe, she suggested when Sonia brought this problem to her, she just needed someone to chain up like she'd done to Akira.
It was a joke, of course, but Sonia took it to heart. And while she would take that advice, what really drove her was that her Grandmother showed her a Quincy Relic, called the Sanrei Glove that would take her training to the next level. But with all the raging emotions that Sonia had inside of her, Lily told her that under no circumstances could she continue unless she dealt with them. The amount of concentration and willpower needed to master the Sanrei Glove was out of her reach at that point, and as many would later learn there was nothing, nothing, that motivated Sonia more than a good challenge.
Sonia wasn't all clinical with her search. She heeded her mother's advice and started to hang out with her friends more, much to their surprise. But it was hard to dislike someone like Sonia, someone so laid back and chill. With the free time she got from not training with her Grandmother Sonia now spent doing what she liked doing best; nothing.
Well, more or less. She did hang out with friends and did things that any normal kid would do. She never truly stopped training, she just did it on her own time. She still attended school and was already getting offers from various colleges. But Sonia liked the ability to do nothing best, often sleeping the day away if allowed or simply bumming around the mall with her friends. There was no shortage of things to do in New Orleans, after all. And it was on a particularly rowdy Mardi Gras that Sonia found the one, the person that could help her.
She didn't know how, but she'd heard the stories on how her Grandmother met her husband, and how her Father had met her Mom. They just knew, and it was in this manner that Sonia knew the woman before her was the one. Maybe it wasn't the best of ways, as she was participating in the traditional use of the Mardi Gras beads and flashing a group of college boys to get more, but that hardly mattered to Sonia. She was the vision of lovely, with dark skin and a body that rivaled her own. Her hair was dyed red and her eyes a sparkling green that captured the young blond and held her tight.
Her name was Donna McKnight, and she was Sonia's first love.
Their romance was short lived but passionate, and it was in her that Sonia found something else she could pursue; girls. Her parents hardly cared and her Grandmother was far too open minded to be concerned with it, but that did leave Sonia with somewhat of a vice. And while she still continued to function properly in everyday life, Sonia found herself thinking of more and more ways she could experience the women she saw all around her in as many ways as possible. Donna had spoiled her; the dark-skinned beauty was well traveled and had much experience in the ways of making love. She taught Sonia everything she knew and like the apt pupil she was, Sonia absorbed that knowledge and ran with it.
Up until she first entered college at the age of nineteen, Sonia bound from girl to girl, just as happy with one as the other. Her Grandmother deemed her worthy to undertake the challenge of the Sanrei Glove when she saw just how even and balanced her Granddaughter was. She didn't know exactly how she'd gotten there but it was enough. Sonia didn't pass with test with the Sanrei Glove with flying colors as she did most things, but she learned later that that was the point. You had to be strong enough, to make the glove accept you. And accept her it did.
It was Lily's suggestion that Sonia venture out into the world, free from her training and restrictions to finally learn her own techniques and practice what she knew every day. The world was a dangerous place and any corner she turned might have Sonia face the fight for her life. For in reality Lily knew that Sonia, despite how mature and strong she was, was quite sheltered in many aspects of life. She'd never be poor or on the streets, would never know true hardships. So, in the guise of a final task, Lily told Sonia that she must go and learn on her own, to become her own person that wasn't in the shadow of her parents. Her last words were something that Sonia carries with her always.
“Make your own destiny,” she said. “And remember your Quincy Pride. Just don't be a stupid idiot about it.”
She didn't do much, really, upon entering the world around her. She still had the backing of her family and her own credit card so living life wasn't all too hard for her. Sonia loafed around for a good long while, watching television and continuing her training at her own pace in her own way. It was in this time that she learned she loved to people watch, often making up storied or dialogue in her own head when she watched certain individuals. She remembered her Grandmother telling her storied of how things used to be, before the wars and the immense changes the world had gone through.
It was in this fashion that she met Kaido, a friendly young man with nothing more on his mind than to get in pretty girls’ pants. He saw Sonia sitting on a bench, as she had been for almost two hours, and mustered up the courage to go spit one of (admittedly lame) one liners at her. Instead the conversation they got into was one that he enjoyed, Sonia's accent and demeanor making him laugh and enjoy her company all that much more. Sonia had regarded him during their conversation, taking his rather simple appearance and strange bandana he wore. When asked, he told her he was a part of the Street Monks and invited her to their 'Base of Operations'.
It was nothing more than a spruced up abandoned factory but one that had been rebuilt for their own purposes. The Street Monks were a group of spiritually aware or awakened humans that had taken to the martial arts as something more than a past time. They deviated from what 'normal' gangs were often perceived of doing and instead did what they could to help their own community out. They were well respected and well known, living by a code that was as strict as any 'actual' monk. Their leader, Titania Jones, was a large woman, standing well over six feet tall with her bandana covering up a ruined left eye. Kaido introduced the pair and almost immediately the two were fast friends, sharing the same lopsided smirk and strong grip. Titania knew she would like Sonia as soon as she took the blonde's hand, feeling the spiritual energy she was familiar with. There were those that didn't recognize the spiritual energy of a Quincy, but it was one she was familiar with.
And so Sonia spent much of her days with the Street Monks, training and living as they did. It was an oddly refreshing change of pace for Sonia, who was mostly bored with a lot of what was going on in life in general. Titania suggested that perhaps she was simply looking for a bigger challenge, something that she could throw her entire being into. With her usual shrug of indifference and nonchalant response, Sonia merely waggled her eyebrows in response before going about her day as usual. It wasn't a bad existence and she was better honing her hand to hand combat skills. Sure, she was a Quincy but that didn't mean she had to rely on her bow all the time did it?

Human Skills: Martial Arts: Sonia is a skilled dancer of many different styles of the world, but breakdancing (though sometimes likened to capoeira) is her favorite. She loves how unpredictable it can get and, when combined with martial arts seems to make and endless flow of erratic movements that were hard or often impossible to predict or scout. Sonia's thought on her style is 'If you never do the same thing twice, how can someone tell what's coming?' She still takes bits and pieces from all the martial arts she does know (thanks to her own training combined with that of the Street Monks), but she's never mastered a single one of them. Instead she takes what she believes would benefit her own style and adds it to her ever growing list of moves (already at an impossible amount) that she can summon up at any time in battle. And while her mind can recall the moves necessary to pull off the amazing feats she does in battle, what Sonia doesn't admit to anyone is that a large part of what she does is simply 'making it up as she goes', which adds more unpredictability to her fights. While her style is still roughcut at best, Sonia believes it to be a supreme form that, if used properly, cannot be beaten. Of course, that's her own opinion.
Marksmanship: When a Quincy becomes more skilled using their Bow and Heilig Pfeil, they gain more power and precision with their arrows. This is similar to how a marksman gains skill, and hits the target more frequently. Like most Quincy, Sonia began her training at a young age and was taught how to fully control her bow and any exercise she might need to make her shots picture perfect. She took to the task with as much zeal as anyone her age could muster. Her bow was always small, however, and eventually she learned to fire her arrows from her Quincy bow one handed in a technique her Grandmother called 'Klavier'. While some may believe that the more arrows you fire shows off just how powerful a Quincy may be, Sonia believes that accuracy and precision are the keys to victory, not how many arrows one can blindly fire. As such Sonia will use her inhuman speed and perception to fire only a single shot (or a few depending on the situation) to hit the exact spot she would need to end the fight quickly. That doesn't mean she doesn't know how to fire off in the trademark Quincy way, what with a thousand arrows raining death upon her enemies. Sonia just prefers to be more elegant about it.
Miscellaneous: Cooking, Mending any type of clothing, Fairly talented at karaoke, Skilled dancer of multiple styles, Olympic level flexibility.
_________________________________
Quincy Items: Seele Schneider: The Seele Schneider is a thin sword that can be fired similarly to an arrow. It's much longer than a standard arrow and functions something like a chainsaw: the reishi of its blade vibrate at ultra-high frequencies, loosening the molecular bonds between any spirit matter it cuts so that the Quincy user may easily absorb the freed reishi. Sonia hates using it but it does help him increase in spiritual power reasons that he hates the weapon because she truly believes it a judgment kill. Truthfully a merciless piece of metal used by Quincy still unless it a dangerous situation, Sonia will not hesitate to pull out her Schneider if in close combat.
Ginto: Small containers which Quincy use to store their Reiryoku. They are utilized as components in Quincy spellcasting, resembling Kido. Sonia usually carried a couple of these around though she is unskilled in most of the techniques, knowing only one.
Quincy Cross: The Ruby of Eternity is a pendant given to Sonia by her Grandmother. It was a present to her Granddaughter in an effort to get the young girl into training to harness her Quincy powers, one to which young Sonia took to with gusto. The material used to make it is unknown, but the six rubies that adorn it have special properties that even Sonia's Grandmother isn't aware of. It's a pendant that has been passed down for generations and Sonia wears it around her neck, never taking it off for any occasion.
Sanrei Glove: Titan's Grip
Other Skills: Heilig Pfeil: The primary attack used by Quincy. It is basically the same as an average arrow, but if the arrows are shot continuously they will eventually injure the wielders hands. The arrows can be created by collecting Reishi, absorbing Reiryoku from an opponent or gathering spirit energy, giving the Quincy many ways to form their bow and arrow. The power of the arrows vary in power and size, while some arrows are more powerful than others, for every Quincy it is different, and normally comes down to skill, since the total amount of arrows fired also showcases the amount of skill, while those who use only a few arrows at a time have more of an impact than others. Depending on what one spirit weapon is, the arrow shape can change, as if one was a blade, then the arrows fired would appear as blades. Since Sonia herself only fires her bow with one hand the type of arrow she fires are typically needle thin and long, capable of penetrating joints in armor or precise targeting of vessels in the victim's body, allowing her to pinpoint how to hit someone in just the right spot so as to incapacitate rather than kill...or kill rather than incapacitate.
Negation of Attacks: If a Quincy can use these arrows precisely, they can to a point they can negate another attack on impact. To do this, they charge the arrows with a sufficient amount of power, and fires them to strike an incoming projectile. However because of modern Quincy style, this use has fallen out of use though a few old school Quincy still use this technique. Sonia's Grandmother Lily taught Sonia how to use this technique as she knew her Granddaughter was more prone to precision rather than the ability to fire off a thousand shots at once. All it takes is one shot, after all, and while the technique is rather outdated, she would rather Sonia know the technique to be on the safe side.
Spiritual Awareness: As a spiritual being, the Quincy can sense Hollows and other spiritual beings at a significant distance or tell in what direction they are in. Quincy are well known to sense the distance to any Hollow, and capable of telling how much spiritual power a person has from a simple glance, making them living radars. Only a small handful of beings are capable of not being able to appear to a Quincy. While not particularly skilled in this area Sonia is still honing it as best she can and uses it to sense if there is any danger around her.
Hirenkyaku: An advanced Quincy moving technique. It allows for high speed movements by riding on the flow of reishi created below the user's feet. To perform the technique, the user gathers spiritual particles under their feet and rides them to the desired location. Like the air-walking skill displayed by most Arrancar and Shinigami, it can also be used to hover or fly for long distances. Hirenkyaku enables Quincy to keep up with, and overpower faster opponents depending on the user's skill. Sonia's skill in Hirenkyaku is such that even her Grandmother was impressed, which in that point of her training was very hard to do. At this point Sonia can now use this to leave an after image of herself while she seemingly 'teleports' to another location (usually behind or to the side of her opponent) to line up her perfect shot. This method has also improved her perception, enabling her to keep up with opponents that may try and outrun her.
Einweben: As suggested by its name, Einweben is a binding Ginto technique. It creates a large, man-sized energy web that is useful for either trapping or deterring an opponent. It is activated by the command "The silver strands bind you to your place - Einweben." This technique can either be used up close or by throwing the Ginto at the opponent. At this point it is the only Ginto technique that Sonia knows as she usually uses it to tie up her opponent she can line up a pacifying or killing shot.
Skills Shot/Techniques
Name: KlavierItem Used: Bow
Type: Offensive/Passive
Range: Any
Description: Allows Sonia to fire off her arrows one handed. Due to the nature of her bow, Sonia had no choice but to learn this when she was younger. At first she could only do this for short durations but has since almost mastered it's use and can fire a multitude of arrows (usually around five dozen) before she has to stop for a short duration to 'recharge'. The recharge duration increases if Sonia pushes herself beyond her limits until she eventually has to stop for rest. However, the more she pushes herself the longer she can keep up her Klavier ability until she can fully fire arrows without recharging.
Name: Endless Waltz
Item Used: Bow
Type: Offensive/Defensive
Range: Around fifty feet around Sonia or her target.
Description: By taking her small bow and punching it onto the ground, Sonia fires arrows that come up from the ground at extreme speeds around her target or, if used defensively, in a radius around herself. The arrows will follow the path of her vision and initially have the three times the strength of her normal arrows. The longer she keeps the ability going, however, the stronger the arrows get and the more damage they do. If done under herself there is a foot radius around Sonia herself that the arrows do not enter, as it's her 'Safe Zone'.
Name: Point Blank Zero
Item Used: Bow
Type: Defensive
Range: Medium/Long
Description: Sonia fires off a normal looking arrow that silently explodes before twelve smaller arrows burst from that and fly towards their target at five times the speed of the original arrow. The smaller arrows explode when a foot or so away from the original target and flash brightly, blinding her opponent. Note that the explosions are heatless and cause no damage and are only meant to blind and incapacitate. Sonia usually fires off a normal barrage of arrows as decoys and hides the special arrow somewhere in the mix.
Name: Bola Shot
Item Used: Bow
Type: Offensive/Defensive
Range: Any
Description: A trick that Sonia used when trying to pass a test for her training under her Father. Concentrating on her target, Sonia fires off a volley of arrows with a singular one as the trick shot. The arrow transforms into a bola and attempts to twirl around it's intended target and capture it. While the capturing part can be easy, it's the aftereffect that can cause damage. Almost invisible to the naked eye is a small string of spiritual energy that connects the bow to the Bola Arrow, which is tied to Sonia. This string is what feeds the next part of the attack.
Any attempt to escape, teleport, body switch, ect. from the bolas around the victim will cause electricity to surge through their bodies. The stronger the opponent, the more easily they can escape from the bolas. If they are weaker than Sonia, the bolas can be held on longer. Sonia can pump more of her reiatsu into the string and therefore into the bolas to attempt to make it stronger should her opponent prove difficult. If, however, her opponent's speed is at a level she cannot contend with they can and will slip out of her Bola Shot, though not unscathed.
Name: Shine Spark
Ability Used: Hirenkyaku
Type: Offensive/Defensive
Range: Any
Description: A different form of Hirenkyaku, Sonia uses her blinding speed to keep phase shifting around an unpredictable intervals at a faster and faster rate. Eventually her speed reaches a point where she actually begins to shine a golden aura, at which point she will fire off the max amount of arrows per 'jump' she does. The result is a barrage of almost a thousand arrows every half second or so if done right. This being a relatively new technique Sonia hasn't perfected it yet but is trying her best to maintain the 'Shine' to better effect. At the current moment her ability to reach the actual Shine Spark status is almost sixty seconds, which would be far too long in actual battle. Her goal is to get that time down to acceptable levels to make the ability more deadly.
When she actually obtains her Shine she can keep it up for, at this current point, a maximum of five minutes before she's completely drained and is almost physically unable to move. She can, and thinks it is smarter, to stop her Shine Spark before the time limit is up so she doesn't end up half dead on the floor.
Also note that Sonia can use any of her special shots during Shine Spark.

Type: Shortbow
Appearance: Sonia's bow, named Nicht Ablösbar (Irredeemable), is small, compact and, if described fully, wholly unimpressive. It does what it needs to do and that's about it. However, because of its size, being almost half of what a full sized bow would be, Sonia had to learn to fire her arrows one handed (A technique known as Klavier) before her training could fully continue. The bow itself is very simple and to the point; something that Sonia wouldn't have any other way. And while she does wonder at times why her bow is so small she pushes such thoughts from her mind as her bow does its job without fail.

- [NOTE: This is a solo roleplay I did on a Mass Effect site.]
“You still smoke?”
The question as simple and standard. She was asked every time she came to these appointments ever since she came back from her time in Freedom Squad. Of course her government appointed shrink was one of the few people that even knew of that particular op, but then again she was privy to a lot of intel that many on Earth were not. She had to be to help the soldiers she sat on her proverbial couch, and at the moment Rellan Shard was her only patient. Which was fine, as her shrink (a lovely woman by the name of Sylvia Salgado) spent a lot of her time in combat training with new recruits in boot. However, her success as a therapist with soldiers coming off of particular stressful ops was what she really had a passion for, and Rellan was proving to be...difficult.
“Ya cher...ah still smoke.”
Sylvia looked the marine up and down, taking in the muscular, sculpted form and blank face that stared out of the window. The view was less than spectacular but it was a view most marines were familiar with; the training grounds. It wasn't the serene setting she would have had with 'normal' patients but it was a view that brought comfort to a lot of marines in the corps. There they spent weeks upon weeks, rain or shine, running and doing pushups and a plethora of other physically exhausting exercising that pushed them to the limit. And while something like that would have stressed out your average Joe, to a seasoned marine it was a reminder of a simpler time when all you had to do was listen to the person that was spraying spittle all over your face and then do what you were told to do.
Rellan was one of those that took comfort in it. She was, by no means, the 'seasoned veteran' that dominated the position of power in the military. She hadn't taken part in the War nor any of the skirmishes that plagued the Earth or any other planet. She had been in a tube and was in a deep chemically induced coma for most of it. If one counted the time she'd spent in actual society she'd only be several years old, no more than a child. There were still things that others thought commonplace but to Rellan...well, they were still rather new. But she took things in stride, learned what needed to be learned and moved on. She adapted, and whatever her parents had done to her made her that way. Because to Sylvia Salgado, Rellan was an oddity that simply shouldn't exist.
It was a worry she'd shared, personally, with several other higher ranking officials, though any and all concerns of hers were directed to the person that had recommended Rellan Shard to the N-Program in the first place; Commander Charlie Roberts. She wasn't surprised, not really. He was there when they found the girl, the one to watch her every move as she progressed through her time in boot and beyond. And even when Freedom Squad had spent a year of their lives sifting through the lowest form of humanity in slavers, Commander Roberts had somehow been able to keep in touch with the squad through Rellan. The young woman's experience on this Earth was hardly something that most people would go by, much less clear someone so go into active duty with. Her view was skewed and jaded and Sylvia only hoped that she could break even with this woman because, in her professional opinion, Rellan was broken.
“Tha Commandah told meh ya talked ta him,” Rellan spoke, turning those disturbing mismatched eyes onto her, though they were soft and nonthreatening at the moment. She knew, however, that those eyes could freeze boiling water if Rellan was angry enough. “Something abou' mah not bein' qualified fer active duty.”
Her voice never wavered, never went above pitch. Even when prompted, her squad mates never could recall if Rellan had ever raised her voice for anything other than to be heard over loud noises. It was almost amusing to see them rack their brains as the question took them off guard. They would squint slightly, open their mouth, then close it and look down. They'd put a hand to their chin in contemplation and then screw up their faces in concentration. Some would bite or chew on their lip before simply smirking and offering a small shrug before responding that no, the First Lieutenant never really raised her voice. Never really had a reason to.
“I'm...concerned...” Sylvia paused, her soft British accented voice clashing with Rellan's rough New Orleans drawl. “You should know that any problem laid out for Commander Roberts has nothing to do with your performance on the field. As a soldier you are excellent. But mentally I do not believe you are fit to be out there, regardless of what your psych evaluation says.”
“Guess dey weren't doin' dere jobs right den, hm?” Rellan sighed, rolling her eyes before they snapped back to the training grounds five stories down. “All dat time spent diggin' in mah head an' all dose doctors runnin' dem tests an' shit dun mean nuttin'. Dat's whatcha getting' at?”
“I...trust the conclusions of my fellow colleagues to a certain degree, yes.” Sylvia sighed, setting down her pad and pen before standing up herself. She smoothed out her blouse before clasping her hands behind her back. “But I have drawn up a number of conclusions of my own about you, First Lieutenant. You have a lot of bottled up anger inside of you and you channel it well. Better than most I see, and believe me when I say that's something. And while I know there's no way to erase that anger completely...I have to voice my concerns to your superiors when I feel that it would get in the way. Lieutenant Gordon, for example...”
“Gordon was out o' line.” Her response was sharp, probably the closest anyone could say that Rellan ever came to raising her voice. “We ain't da armeh. What we were doin' had ta get done. Dere was no otha reason fer us ta be dere. An' we were undah da grid, yeah. So what? It dun mean dat we get ta treat dose we considah enemies anyting less den human. He was told ta stand down. He refused. Ah put him in his place. Dat was all dere was to it.”
“You kept him on the mission.”
“He learned his lesson.” Rellan narrowed her eyes as she observed the squad outside begin their hand-to-hand combat training. “Sidelinin' him woulda cost us time we din have. He got meh an' ah got him. An' even doe we nevah saw eye ta eye, he followed mah orders.”
“And The N-Program? Do you feel qualified for it?”
Rellan didn't answer for a while and instead mentally went through how the recruits on the training grounds could improve on their hand-ho-hand. After a moment she closed her eyes and crossed her arms. She ran her tongue over her teeth in a nervous gesture before letting out a breath and slumping slightly. It was a question that Commander Roberts had asked her and one that Rellan only smirked at. The Commander had taken that as a cocky affirmative but, when he wasn't looking Rellan could only downcast her eyes and wonder herself if she was ready for it. Physically she was probably one of the more capable of the marines going into the program. Mentally...she still wondered.
She lived, to be sure. She liked the military life more than most did because...well, it was what she knew. Fighting, tactics, strategy...everything she'd been building up to since she was a child. The people that found her called it cruel, called it a life no child should have to go for. And part of her mind could see why after seeing how other, more normal children were raised and treated. But Rellan didn't consider her childhood something worthy of the word tragic. It was different, to be sure, but to think it would have some sort of impact on how she viewed the world was quite silly to her. And while it slightly irked her that others thought she was the one with an odd view of the world, Rellan kept it to herself that they were the ones that made her cock her head in wonder.
So maybe being out of that tube for a little more than a year was a bad example on how one should live. It was basically how she lived her life down in the bunker with her family and Raye, only with slightly more freedom. Her schedule was still strict, she was still told what to do. She knew she was being prepared for bigger things though, they all were. Soldiers were always following orders but Commander Roberts wanted something more out of Rellan and the thought that she couldn't deliver scared her to death. So she did what she always did and put on a mask and went with the flow. They wanted cocky and confident? She had a mask for that and wore it with pride. It was all she could do, because maybe she wasn't cut out to be in the N-Program. But she wasn't one to go down without a fight.
And so she merely looked at Sylvia, straightening up to her full and considerable height, and shrugged, that cocky half smile she was famous for plastered on her face. After a moment the therapist nodded, not convinced but not wanting to push the sensitive topic.
“And your relationships? Still...” The therapist made an off hand gesture before continuing. “Exploring around, I suppose the term is?”
Rellan barked out a laugh before pulling a case from her back pocket and opening it. Gold Label cigars, best on Earth as far as she was concerned. She took one out that she'd been working on earlier and lit it up, inhaling with a blissful look on her face before pointing at Sylvia. “Well, ya know meh doc...gotta keep mah bed warm.”
“I see...” Sylvia pressed her lips together and simply watched as Rellan took to looking out of the window. Rellan rotating cast of women was a sure sign, to her, that mentally the woman still suffered more issues than could ever be solved. But it was also another one of those points that Rellan simply refused to talk about and instead ignored, much as she was doing now. “We won't get far, First Lieutenant, if you ignore the issues at hand.”
“Whatcha see as 'issues' ah see as nuttin' mo' den ere'day occurrences.” Rellan responded smoothly. “Occurrences dat dun need ta beh spoken 'bout. Cause if'n dey ain't problems ta me, why would dey beh problems fer you?”
“Rellan, I simply...”
“Time beh up, doc.” Rellan looked at her imaginary watch on her left hand then pointed said wrist at the therapist before giving it a playful wave. “Ya can go 'head an' request ah beh pulled from whateva ya see fit. Ah tink we both know dat tha Commandah ain't gonna do it. Ah'll continue with mah trainin' an' when I hit da top at N7, ah'll be sure to write cha ah lettah an' make sure ya know ah'm still alive and kickin'.”
She left swiftly, as she usually did. Sylvia sat down in her chair, folding her hands in her lap with a sigh. Rellan certainly was a...difficult project, and one she would dub a 'ticking time bomb' were she not almost positive Rellan's anger was more of a driving force behind her determination than it was a hindrance. She wanted to push more buttons and get bigger reactions but their time was limited. Rellan was an N1, and therefore the woman should be spending any free time she may have during the day recovering from the hell they put their soldiers through, not in an office being shrunk by someone. Sylvia knew that Rellan hid her feelings well. Her time in Freedom Squad had more impact on her than probably the rest of her team. But, as Commander Roberts told her, it was the fastest way he could see to get Rellan qualified to be in the N-Program. Bringing back everyone alive, if not a little banged up, was definitely eye catching.
“Good luck soldier.” Sylvia whispered, leaning her head back. “You'll need it.”[/color]

First, i would ask, if she were to encounter targets like Shadin, who specializes in area of speed, how can her Bola capture its target or even catch the target into the area of effect? Get that issue done and it'll be good to go.Sonia Bond wrote:Name: Bola Shot

While i have no actual issues with it, i would like to know if she can perform this technique once or twice? Reading it over and over again, it seems like an ability that is quite taxing in terms of using her spiritual energy. Just explain how the entire system works and how many times can she use this when the entirety of the technique is successfully performed once.Sonia Bond wrote:Name: Shine Spark
